What's the difference between a funnel cloud and a tornado?

What is a waterspout?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

In the Nazi army, what was the difference between the
Brownshirts and the Blackshirts?

Brownshirts were ordinary soldiers. Blackshirts were chosen
to be bodyguards for high-ranking Nazi officials and
supervisors of concentration camps. They are better known,
perhaps, as the dreaded "SS" (short for Schutzstaffel, or
elite guard).

What's the difference between a hurricane, a typhoon, and
cyclone?

None, really. All three are names given to a type of
cyclonic storm (a storm with wind speeds usually greater
than 75 miles per hour which travel in a usually circular
pattern). Storm systems that develop over the Atlantic Ocean
or the eastern Pacific Oceans are called "hurricanes," while
similar storms in the Northwest Pacific are called
"typhoons." They're called "cyclones" pretty much everywhere
else around the globe.

ANNOUNCEMENT! ANNOUNCEMENT! ANNOUNCEMENT!

thePEBBLE will no longer be publishing on weekends, beginning
in 2006.

For those of you who are steady readers I thank you for your
support and loyalty. I also ask you to understand there is
considerable commitment required to get thePEBBLE out
on a daily basis. New and different things are happening
in my life that make that close to impossible some days.
Giving me a break on weekends will go a very long way to
relieving that pressure because it will give me some "spare" time
in which to organize.

I thank you for your continued loyalty and support.

By the way, for those of you who have not purchased the book
The Saga of Pinehill, I ask you to do that today. The publisher and I
are coming to terms concerning the next book in the series and I
think we'll see The Saga of Pinehill II on the market next year.

Our supermarket had a sale on boneless chicken breasts, and
a woman I know intended to stock up. At the store, however,
she was disappointed to find only a few skimpy prepackaged
portions of the poultry, so she complained to the butcher.

"Don't worry, lady," he said. "I'll pack some more trays
and have them ready for you by the time you finish
shopping."

Several aisles later, my friend heard the butcher's voice
boom over the public-address system: "Will the lady who
wanted bigger breasts please meet me at the back of the
store."

I truly love it when a joke makes a point. As funny as this
joke is, it points out that we most often should think
before we speak.

I had a lady say something like that joke to me the other
day and when I asked her to repeat her statement it suddenly
dawned on her what she had said. She became so embarrassed
she blushed for an hour.

We have a hard enough time speaking clearly to folks within
our own communities. We must speak in ways the reader
understands and to do that takes some skill.

However, in these days of internet marketing you are not
only speaking to the local community but to the whole world.

I have had the good fortune to travel to parts of the world
where folks are not computer literate, neither desirous of
being so. They live by primitive means by North American
standards.

In those places you will find that dialects change about
every twenty five miles in any direction. The same used to
occur right here in our own country, not too long ago.

So, when you speak, or write, you must be aware that even as
close as twenty five miles away there may be folks who look
at your words different than what you meant.

The Duke Of Edinburgh has been quoted, once, as saying that
the "English and the Americans are separated by a common
language". He's right. It is just this different way folks
look at the same things as you go around the world that
creates communication troubles.

So, as an internet marketer, it is wise to keep in mind the
different ethnic backgrounds even within your own community,
your State, your Country. All people may need your product,
but they and you will never find out unless you address them
in terms they understand.

Stress And How It Affects Your Physical Body
A Few Ideas To Enhance Your Fitness Level.
PART 7 of 9

This really happened to a friend of mine and she couldn't talk
about it for a long time, as anyone she should have been
telling, would harm the "friend". I'll call her Lori. She was
and is a beautiful gal: gifted as a child and very talented. And
now she is also very beautiful to look at, and of course very
talented. When she was in her early teens, Lori and her brother
were invited out by a family friend to have a ride in his new
car. She had to sit on the console, as this was a "two-seater".
Her brother was totally distracted by the blaring stereo.
Several times Lori felt this man's hand go up her skirt and rub
her leg. She would push his hand away and glare at him.
Eventually she was able to get away. Her brother was a little
suspicious but she didn't say much and he didn't ask. Over the
next many years leading into Lori's adult life, this family
friend continued to pursue her, in spite of all her rejections.
Eventually she was caught in a situation where she had to enlist
the help of a neighbour who ran to protect her. My point here is
that Lori had set her boundaries and had made her wishes known
very definitely. Yet persistently someone tried to override
them. She was successful, but the scars remain. And now her
stress is showing in other ways. But isn't this a very familiar
story? Isn't it sad that we have to be so watchful.

Once you consciously choose your boundaries you don't need to
announce them to everyone. But you will feel much more powerful.
In Lori's case, she was still a child when the first choices had
to be made. And all through her teens, she could have told
someone, but she also knew her family would be very harsh on
this "friend". So in protecting him, she violated her own
boundaries. But now she needs to be reminded and rewarded for
sticking up for herself at great emotional cost. She was
courageous then and she is still that same person today. It's
strange how people wake up to acknowledging this power once
someone brings it to their attention. They need to be given
personal examples and ways of expanding it, but one they get it,
they really "get it"! Once they feel consciously good about
their goals and futures, and recognize their abilities and
uniqueness, its' quite amazing to see them grow. We all have
this power, but the sad part is that we don't use it or even
know it's available as a choice. This is where recognizing your
uniqueness is brought into play. Use it and wonderful things
happen. I wish this recognition for everyone!

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

WHAM!

Hank's car was hit broadside. The road was so slippery
the crash sent him careening down the road and he hit two
other vehicles before jumping the curb, a barricade and
plunged down into a 150 foot gully.

The car bounced and plunged for what seemed to Hank to
be a week. His airbag had deployed and was now deflated. He
was still bouncing around. His seat belt hurt as his body
strained against it. He couldn't do anything about it. He
was being thrown this way and that within the confines of
his seat belt and every time it hurt.

All Hank could think of was the kids, his wife and
Christmas.

BANG! The car hit something solid. Hank's head banged
against the side window. It split his head open a terrible
gash. He was bleeding and bleeding and bleeding. Now he
couldn't see. His eyes were smeared in his own blood.

CRASH! With one final blow the car finally stopped
moving. Hank was hanging in his seat belt, upside down.
He was dizzy, confused, out of sorts. He couldn't
remember anything but Kathy and the kids. He hurt in a
zillion places. His head was still bleeding. He was loosing
consciousness.

Somehow, Hank knows not how, suddenly it all quit. He
didn't hurt anymore. All he could see was a brilliant white
light and all he could feel was peace and contentment like
he had never known before. He couldn't remember when he ever
felt this good. He felt love, calm, peace. Somehow he knew
he was all right. "Okay Father, if this is my turn to go,
I'm ready." These were words he uttered. He didn't know if
he spoke them or just thought them but as far as he was
concerned he had just given himself over to his Maker.

Hank didn't want to die. He still had much work to do
with Kathy and the kids. He wasn't ready. Yet he was a
fatalist. If this was his time, so be it. He felt his body
relax and he basked in the white light. It was warm, loving
and peaceful. He was getting so he didn't want to leave.
This was wonderful.

Then he heard it. "Hank! Hank! It's time to come back,
buddy. You will remember this Hank. It was supposed to
happen so you could meet your Maker. Time to come back,
Hank! RISE HANK!"

The words penetrated Hank like no other. He felt each
word in each cell of his body. Every part of him knew it was
time to come back to the living. He moved his hand. He was
still hanging upside down. His hand moved on a bunch of
broken glass on the ceiling of the car.

Whoever it was that called him back gave another
instruction. "Hank, watch your head, buddy. I'm going to let
your seat belt loose. Are you ready?"

Hank nodded and put two hands down onto the ceiling of
the car. Snap! Hank's hands hit the floor hard. He pushed
instantly but not before his head hit. Then his body, the
rest of it, was looking for a place to fall. He ended up on
the interior roof in the most grotesque of positions.

"Hank! You all right?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Who are you?"

"Never mind that just now. Your car is sitting on the
edge of another precipice and could easily fall some more.
The only way out is through this broken driver's window. It
is dangerously close to the edge of the cliff. I want you to
move slowly to the window and then reach out for my hand.
From there, I will take care of the rest."

There was something strange about this voice. It was
commanding, authoritative. Not like humans. It reached to
every part of his body. Hank began to move slowly. He could
feel the car moving but had not yet seen the position it was
in so all he could do was trust the voice. He finally got to
the window. He stuck his hand out. Someone or something
grabbed it. Instantly he felt whole. He felt love entering
and surging through his body. He was being energized. The
hand began pulling and pulling. Hank was being pulled from
the car. Just as his feet were about to come out of the car
the car toppled and fell into the deeper ravine. Hank could
hear it crash and tumble.

Someone still had hold of his hand. Hank tried to stand
but it was slippery.

"Hank, look into my eyes."

Hank did as the command told him. The moment he looked
into the man's eyes he felt himself as if on solid footing.
He stood up. The man still held his hand. The man waved his
hand in front of Hank like a security guard waves his metal
detector wand at an airport security gate. As the man was
doing this Hank felt his clothes dry off. He felt warm. He
felt clean. He felt whole and perfect.

Now he could hear others trying to get down the hill to
help him. He had no idea how long he had been there.

"About an hour. There is no way for rescuers to reach
you Hank. You can hear then trying now. Holler up to them
that you are all right. That all is well and that you will
meet them up top. We will come tomorrow and get your car
from the bottom."

Hank called out "I'm all right. Stay where you are. I
will meet you up top. The car has fallen further. There is
no one else in it. Go on back up and I will go up another
way."

Little did Hank realize it was "another way".

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Back Seat: Why do we use the term "take a back seat" when
referring to a lesser position?

Because those members of the British Parliament who belong
to the majority party take front seats. Those who are in the
minority "take a back seat" - either of their own accord or
because they are told to do so.

The Dog's Funeral

Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet
dog for company. One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to
the parish priest and asked,

"Father, my dog is dead. Could ya'be saying' a mass for the
poor creature?"

Father Patrick replied, "I'm afraid not; we cannot have
services for an animal in the church. But there are some
Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they
believe. Maybe they'll do something for the creature."

Muldoon thanked the priest and said, "I'll go right away
Father. Do ya' think $5,000 is enough to donate for the
service?"

Father Patrick exclaimed, "Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why
didn't ya tell me the dog was Catholic?"
