What is the New Year's Eve ball made of?

The original New Year's Eve ball was made of iron and wood,
decorated with 100 25-watt light bulbs. It weighed 700
pounds and measured five feet in diameter. The current ball,
designed by Waterford Crystal, is a geodesic sphere, six
feet in diameter and weighing 1,070 pounds. It's made up of
504 Waterford Crystal triangles attached to an aluminum
frame. The exterior of the ball is illuminated with 432
light bulbs of varying colors and 96 strobe lights, as well
as 90 rotating pyramid mirrors to reflect light back into
the audience. Both the lights and mirrors are computer
controlled to create a dazzling light show.

Values Change With The Generations!

When my father-in-law decided to move after his
retirement, he invited us to his home to take a few pieces
of furniture he wanted us to have. One item was beautiful
but very heavy, an antique dining-room set. Our teenage
son helped us wrestle the set into our truck. It took the
whole day, but finally the table, chairs, and china cabinet
were sitting in our dining room.

"Just think," I said as I admired the furniture while my
son sat resting. "This set is 100 years old. And someday,
it will belong to you."

"Oh, no!" he replied with a stricken look on his face.
"You mean I'm going to have to move this thing AGAIN?"

And that is what happens. The things you value now you
may not have valued when you were younger, that's true.
However, your values have also changed from what your
parents values were. And you can bet your children's
values will be different than yours.

This article is not saying that is good or bad. I am only
saying it is. My concern is that you might pronounce it
good or bad. Don't.

You see, if we insisted that our children do everything
we do, the way we do it, there would be no progress at
all. Oh, yes you must provide guidelines and the discipline
to keep them within the guidelines, but they should be set
for your children's benefit, not yours. In other words they
should be set to permit growth and imagination in your
children.

Yes you want to teach them the principles of honesty,
integrity, manners, courtesy, politeness and, hopefully,
humility, but let their imaginations roam. Encourage them
to do things you, at their age, wouldn't think of doing.
Encourage them to do things beyond their ability levels.
Encourage them to develop their own set of values,
which might not match item for item with yours. Show
them how to be resourceful, to make their way in the
world, not your way in the world.

It is true you must prepare them to live in the adult world.
Yet the adult world they will grow into will be entirely
different than the one you grew into. Keep that in mind
when yo are preparing your children to take over
government and industry. Keep in mind these are the
people you want to continue your pension.

You cannot expect them to live in the same world as you.
Show them early that values change and that's okay. Just
because you like that dining room suite you moved today
is no requisite your children must like it. Know that.

These days, my life revolves around explaining how the immune
system works, how it has broken down, and why you really need to
keep it healthy. This is not some far off ethereal, wishy-washy,
"tip toe through the tulips" concept. It is a very practical
choice you have to make consciously, and apply to your health
NOW. We have made giant steps in understanding our bodies: how
they die (slowly and painfully) and how to keep them alive
(happily and healthily). Ponder this...why do some people live
healthily till they die and why so others limp along painfully
to a sad ending? Why wouldn't we all die the same way? And that
is what I want to share here. This is about living everyday and
every minute to your best possible potential. Not living in
anticipation of your death, but taking an active role in
creating a good life for yourself. And the factual part is that
only YOU can create it for yourself. Neither your doctor nor
your spouse, nor anyone else, can do this for you. This is a
brutal, but real fact. The other scary part is that the choice
to take control is YOURS. So if you choose to move forward in
health and longevity, you need to learn how to do this.

I am going to give you a variety of descriptions, definitions,
and research sites. I urge you to start paying attention to what
is going on ...or not going on, in your own body. This is how
you can prevent many degenerative conditions from getting a
foothold. That includes cancer. One marvellous place to find all
sorts of information is "Medline". It is a site used by many
health care professionals and the research community.

Over the course of the last week and a half we have been
including a daily topic of something you as a person can do,
all by yourself, to aid in the cause of reducing greenhouse
gasses.

While you remain one person you should understand that if
you and others follow this plan it would have a truly
staggering effect. Give it a try.

On other matters I see the topic of “Bird Flu” is coming
back. The medical community and those concerned about
epidemics are considerably concerned about the idea that the
H5N1 “Bird Flu” virus is “still smoldering”. In another
article not too long ago I told you the US government had
ordered $200,000,000.00 worth of vacine. While this is not a
vacine that will kill the virus it has shown to have a
beneficial effect if taken within two days of contracting
the virus.

The “Bird Flu” is a killer. It kills 75 percent, maybe more,
of those who come in contact with the virus.

Between of this and global warming there is quite a picture
developing.

Oh, I know some of you are running to your bibles and saying
“See! I told you so.”

Wake up and smell the roses. Predicted or not get yourself
ready. Do you honestly believe that some “person” sitting on
some “throne” in some place you call “heaven” is going to
reach down and pluck you up out of all this while letting
other members of your family perish?

Think on these matters.

It's a nautical term. When the sails of a square-rigged
sailing ship are suddenly carried by the wind back against
