What kind of animal is an ermine?
An ermine is a weasel in the winter! A weasel and an
ermine are actually the same animal. The animal's coat
changes from reddish-brown to white during the winter.
When the coat is white, it's an ermine. When it's brown,
it's a weasel.
How many states can you see from the top of the
Empire State Building?
On a clear day, you can see the surrounding countryside
for distances up to 80 miles, looking into the neighboring
states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and
Massachusetts, as well as New York itself! If it's a cloudy
day, you can actually be ABOVE the clouds when standing
at the top of the Empire State Building. The observation
deck is on the 102nd floor, but the clouds usually hang at
about the 70th floor. If it's raining or snowing, you might
actually see the precipitation falling "upside-down!" Wind
has to go somewhere when it hits a building. It goes up,
down, sideways, and ricochets off other buildings. Constantly
shifting wind patterns around the Empire State Building
can actually make snow appear to go up instead of
come down.

What E-books Will Sell in 2004?

Face it. E-books are here to stay. Not only are
they continuing to sell at a phenomenal rate, but there
is no end in site. Revenues were up 30% in 2003 over
the same period in 2002. Compare that to the annual
growth rate of only 5% in traditional print publishing.
Some publishers are reporting an e-book sales increase
of 183% over printed versions of the same books.
E-books are in.
What e-books will sell in 2004? Looking into our
crystal ball, and based on our own successes with
e-books, here are the top ten categories we see a real
need for e-books to fill this year.
1. Alternative Living. Many need guidance on how to
live as a single person, senior citizen, disabled, or
gay. That includes cooking, dating, legalities tips,
and so on. They want info directed to their needs.
2. Money duplication. We need help on how to multiply
our existing money. Now that more people have learned
that a two-income household isn't enough to make it, we
need information on how to leverage what we have left.
3. Home schooling. More people are choosing to keep
their kids out of the environment of public schools,
and even private ones. They need information on how to
effectively educate their kids, right down to how to
have a science fair in the home, how to throw parties
for children, and so on.
4. Pet training. Many people are choosing to make their
best friend a pet. But they don't know which pets are
the best for their living condition and they don't know
how to train their pets. This includes the average dog
lover as well as those interested in exotic animals.
5. Safe sex. We still want it, but we're afraid to have
it. Information on safe sex, alternative approaches to
traditional sex, sexual arrangements, safe and natural
herbs, Viagra alternatives and so on, will do well. Sex
sells. Always will.
6. Anti-aging. It should come as no surprise that
people still want to live forever. The wellness
movement is going to make people rich. Clear
information on how to choose the right anti-aging
product, exercise, or lifestyle will be welcome.
7. Gadget alert. We're fascinated with high-tech toys
but not sure which will work. Guides on how to pick the
right multi-tasking phone, laptop, Dick Tracy radio,
MP3 player, etc, will be a relief to many confused
people. (Including us.)
8. Passion Instruction. People still want to have fun.
Information on how to learn a musical instrument, or a
craft, or any pastime, will continue to do well. This
includes subjects people are fascinated with, such as
tattoos, magic, scrapbooking, pottery, etc.
9. Eating Slim. We want to eat but we don't want to get
fat. Information on safe foods, safe recipes, guides
for eating out without getting fat, new weight-loss
formulas or insights, healthy desserts, will all sell.
10. Home Gardens. People want to know how to improve
their home, create a garden, build on rooms, fix broken
appliances, and so on. Good information on how to be a
home and garden handyman (or handywoman) will sell.

Here are some other terms and descriptions. It's very
interesting and much more meaningful for you to learn
about normal things happening on or in your body.
Sometimes you need to be your own diagnostician so
you know when to seek a doctor's advice. I chose a variety
of these terms for their appearance and common occurrences,
and then for general interest. I have gone to the Medline site
and clicked on the Merriam Webster Dictionary. And then I
went to the "skin diseases" site at Medline as well.

BURNS
A 1st degree burn is mild and recognized by heat, pain,
and reddening of the burned surface. But it won't show any
blistering or charring of tissues.
You will see the skin turning red and the pores will be very
distinct. If this is on your own body, it will feel warm and painful
and sensitive (very aware of) to anything on it. You will see
the tiny hairs and the skin just around them a bit dry. Your
goal should be to stop this process and the easiest and best
way (and cleanest) is to hold it under cold water. This will
feel very refreshing as the heat leaves. The spreading of
the redness also stops. This is a safe and helpful home
remedy. A 2nd degree burn is marked by pain, blistering,
(an elevation of the top layer of the skin) the epidermis.
This contains a watery liquid. Here you would see superficial
destruction of middle layer of the skin (dermis) with swelling
and red, and warmth (hyperemia) of the tissues beneath
the burn. A 3rd degree burn is severe. It is characterized by
destruction of the skin through the depth to and maybe
through the subcutaneous tissue and possibly into
underlying tissues. This results in loss of fluid, and
sometimes shock.
This is a state of severe "depression" of the vital activities
of the body. You would be or see a very pale person
(pallor). There would be a rapid, but weak pulse, and
rapid, shallow respirations. And throughout the body there
would also be reduced TOTAL blood volume, resulting
in low blood pressure.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.

on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

Eric was shocked. Again he was stunned. He just sat
there. How did David know his wife's name, his children's
name? How did he know of that affair at New Years or
about his affair with his last receptionist?
David had been right, of course, on all counts. Eric had
absolutely no idea who he was speaking with, nor the
abilities of his brother.
"That won't work Eric." said David noticing his brother's
thoughts, "There is no way you can deny what I have told
you. You know you did what I said. What you don't know
is the extent to which you have hurt your family. And you
really don't care. Your warped sense of pride is like
Father's. You think money is all and the fact that you have
provided it for those people in your life is the end of your
responsibilities."
"What are you doing, reading my thoughts now?" sneered
Eric.
"Yes." answered David matter of factly.
"You accuse me of things you know nothing about. You
lie. I've done none of those things you talk about." said Eric.
His voice was strong, yet it was lacking the conviction
needed to convince.
Suddenly, on one wall there were images, moving, as if
they were being projected from a movie camera. It was
an image of a party, containing many people all laughing,
drinking and having fun as people do at parties. The scene
shifted to another room, where there was only Eric and
another woman. They were making love, complete with all
the sounds and voices. Then the door to the room opened
and there stood Eric's wife, Sharon.
That scene left and was replaced by another. It was here
in this office. Again Eric and a woman were having sex, on
the couch. This was the receptionist he had just let go.
Both the scenes were as real as if they had been recorded
on video. Eric sank in his chair.
"Need I show you more? Or is this enough?" asked David.
Eric just waved his hand as if to dismiss the thought.
What was happening here? His brother knew things about
him no one else did and he had not been here. Who was
this man?
Eric was beaten, now, by his own guilty conscience, in front
of someone he held in higher regard than himself, his
Mother. He was completely unable to answer the charges
against him.
"You know, if you get off that arrogant streak of pride, if you
humble yourself completely and begin to have respect for
others and their rights, you may be able to save your
marriage." said David calmly.
"My marriage is not in trouble." snapped Eric.
"If you say so." responded David, again calmly.
Eric was having trouble dealing with this man. It was clear
to him he was superior in every way to his own intelligence.
He could not understand it. David had never been a brilliant
scholar. That was his, Eric's, strong suit. Yet here was David, his
brother, sitting in front of him now, obviously in receipt of
information even he, Eric, didn't know about.
"I think, Eric, it is best we leave. It would have been nice
to meet your wife and family, but your actions and retorts
have made it impossible to enjoy this relationship with any
degree of trust. I wish you a good life. I hope you get all
things straightened out. Good bye." said Mae as she rose
to leave.
"If you ever need help with any part of your life just think
of me, in your mind, and call me, in your mind. I will come."
said David as he rose to leave.
"But wait! There must be some way we can work this
out. Stay." stammered Eric.
"I don't think you understand, Eric." said David, "You have
hurt your Mother, your wife and your children. You are on
the verge of a major upset in your life. The only way you
can keep what you have is to swallow your false pride, in
a genuine way, and begin to care for others. Money will
not buy you what you want. Your humility will, and only
your humility will. When you think on that you now have
the opportunity to change your life around. Follow this
advice and you will save your marriage, your practice and
the things you want. Fail to follow it and you will reap the
rewards of what you have been practicing. We can do
nothing to alter that. Only you can change your life."
