What exactly IS "sea level"?
"Sea level" is the position of the air-sea interface, to
which all terrestrial elevations and submarine depths
are referred. Most people think "sea level" refers to
some uniform, never-changing height of the ocean
surface. In fact, all the seas of the world are not at
precisely the same level. Even in a single ocean,
the height of the water changes constantly according
to tides, wind, atmospheric pressure, gravitational
pull, and climate. Since there is no single "sea level,"
the concept of "mean sea level" is used. The US
Geodetic Survey makes regular measurements at
many locations and determines the AVERAGE sea
level for a particular location, taking care to measure
over all stages of a tide over a long period of time. It
is this figure that is used when referring to that
specific location.
What (now extinct) bird was once so numerous that
flocks of them could block out the sun?
A little more than a century ago, the Passenger Pigeon
(also called the Migrating Dove) was the most numerous
species of bird on the entire planet. They numbered in
the BILLIONS in the Eastern United States - more than
ALL other species of North American birds combined
(it's estimated that four out of every ten birds in North
America at the time of its discovery was a Passenger
Pigeon). Passenger Pigeons flew in enormous flocks
that could take days to pass by and could actually block
out the sun and make it seem as though an eclipse was
occurring. In 1870 (when their numbers had already
been considerably diminished), a flock flew over
Cincinnati that was a mile wide and 320 miles long. It
is estimated to have contained over two billion birds!
Flocks of Passenger Pigeons were reported to have
sounded like thunder. Their nesting sites covered
hundreds of square miles of forest, each tree holding
numerous birds and up to a hundred nests (with branches
frequently snapping under the weight of the birds).
Passenger Pigeons were fast (they were estimated to
fly about a mile a minute) and graceful. They were larger
and more colorful than the domestic pigeons you now
see on street corners, with pinkish-red breasts and
blue-gray heads. In shape, they most resembled the
Mourning Dove.

You Just Never Know
When You Are Going To
Need Somebody!

A motorcycle cop was rushed to the hospital with an
inflamed appendix.
The doctors operated and advised him that all was well.
However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling
at the hairs on his chest. Worried that it might be a second
surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got
enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough
so he could look at what was making him so
uncomfortable.
Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide
strips of adhesive tape, the ultra sticky kind. Written in
large black letters was the sentence, "Get well soon! Luv,
from the nurse you gave a ticket to last week!"
I know the policeman was just doing his job, but the
joke does show us you just never know when you are
going to run into someone with whom you dealt before.
It is always good policy to be polite, courteous, sincere
and genuine, honest to an infinite degree, and clearly
socially acceptable. Sometimes, when we aren't that
way, we inadvertently stumble across the path of
someone we hurt or treated unfairly.
If there is one thing that is perfectly clear it is that "What
goes around, comes around." The chickens you send
out, are the ones that come home to roost, only they
are much bigger then.
I know I have written about being nice to people, before.
Yet the topic cannot be overemphasized. It is not so
others will benefit from you, that I say this. It is that you
will benefit from this policy, big time. That, after all is the
law. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." It could not be
otherwise, and the person who has an acute
understanding of this law, has much better control
of their life than those who do not.
So it is wise to remember, if you don't want real sticky
tape, three rows of it, stretched across your hairy
chest, be nice.

A BOIL is a localized swelling and inflammation of the
skin resulting from bacterial infection in a skin gland. It
has a hard central core, and contains pus. It is also
furuncle. It looks shiny and red, but the center of it will
look whitish. Once it is lanced (cut open), drained and
cleaned, it looks like an empty red hole. Again, this is
not a place to experiment, but if you did look closely,
you would see the center of a pore.
MELANOMA is a benign (harmless) or malignant
(harmful) skin tumor containing dark pigment. That's
the crucial colour. If it is a tumor of high malignancy
it starts in cells of normal skin or moles and metastasizes
(spreads) rapidly and widely. This is one reason that
you want to check your body and learn its real appearance.
If something like this arises, you should now recogise
it and seek medical help immediately. If it has a hair
growing out of it, it needs prompt attention. These all
starts as innocent-looking moles…a little like a smooth
blackberry. As it grows, it loosed that shape, but keeps
the pigmentation.
WARTS are a rough projection on the skin usually of
the extremities (toes and fingers)said to be caused
by viruses. They look similar to calluses but are thought
to be contagious.
SUNBURN is an inflammation of the skin caused by
overexposure to ultraviolet radiation especially
from sunlight.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"What happened, Sam?" she asked.
"Ben tells me you slipped on some ice and in falling you
hit your head bad. The good doctors and nurses here
were about to operate to save your life. That was a close
one Helen." answered Sam.
The doctors came over to take Helen by the arm. They
turned her to look at where she had struck her head. There
was no longer any evidence of trauma. They were amazed.
"Mrs. Striker. Maybe we should take X-rays just to check
and make sure everything is alright!" said one of the
doctors, rather insistently.
Helen stopped. She removed the doctors hands from her
arm. She looked at Ben near the doorway, smiled, then
looked at Sam for a long serious look.
"No. If Sam Henry is here to look after me I need no more
attention from you. Thank you for all you have done. I
appreciate your care and concern." she answered politely,
calmly, but firmly, " I shall have my husband take me home.
Thank you."
Helen turned around slowly, looking at everyone in the
room, making eye contact. She was thanking all present.
Everyone knew she was well. They could not believe
what they just saw, but they knew Helen Striker was well.
The room became alive with talk. All were in awe.
Sam slowly walked toward the door, and Ben and Helen
Striker. He said nothing.
As they walked out the door of the operating room, the
nurse who was going to stop them was still standing where
she stopped. When she saw Helen walking she drew in
her breath and put her hand over her mouth. Everyone in
the area cleared a wide path for Ben and Helen to walk
to the exit doors.
Sam walked a circuitous route and made his way past
all the patients who were in there at that moment. All were
made whole and walked out.
Outside, Ben suddenly remembered his car was at Sam's.
He stopped Helen and they waited for Sam.
When Sam arrived he held out his hands, one to each of
them. They took his hands and vanished. They were
instantly they were at the Henry household.
They walked into the house to the waiting arms of Alewka.
She hugged Helen, passing the intense energies of love
into her entire body. It was nearly too much for Helen, but
good for her.
"Sam, I don't know how to thank you. I don't think she
would have made it if you had not come to the hospital."
said Ben, with a tear in his eye.
"Ben, it is fine. Helen is well. There is no need to thank me.
It is the energies of the universe you must thank, not me. I
merely directed them to specific use. It is all part of your
Maker's plan, Ben. It is not I, for I am only the
messenger." answered Sam.
Ben was too emotionally involved to hear that, at this
moment. He had had a big scare that set up a shock
condition within him and he was in not position to hear
much. He was just thankful he had his wife back.
"Helen! What happened?" asked Mae.
"I am not sure of the details, Mae. I was walking out of the
house to go get some groceries. When I stepped off the
stairs I somehow twisted my foot and fell backward, hitting
my head on the concrete step. Then I don't remember
anything. I don't even know how I got to the
hospital." Helen replied.
"Oh! Sam, I better drive home and talk to our neighbors.
They all saw the ambulance arrive to get Helen, and it
was our immediate neighbor that saw it happen and
called authorities. I heard because on the 911 service. I
should go tell her Helen is alright." said Ben.
"That would be fine, Ben. Can David and I come with
you, for the ride?" asked Sam.
"Certainly, I would appreciate that."
The three men were off to Ben and Helen's place, while
the three women stayed at the kitchen table talking.
