Why can't we see color at night?
After your eyes adjust to the dark, you can sometimes
see pretty well, even in the dead of night. But you can't
distinguish color. Everything looks like it's some shade
of black or gray. Why? The answer lies in the two types
of light-sensitive organs in the back of our
eyes - rod-shaped and cone-shaped. Cones are what
let us see color, but they don't work very well in dim
light. Rods work better in dim light, but they don't let
you distinguish color. When it gets dark, cones stop
responding to light. Here's something else strange: in
dim light, you can actually see more clearly out of the
sides of your eyes. This is because the light-sensitive
rods are more concentrated off to the side in the back
of your eyes.
Why do I sometimes see little black spots in front
of my eyes?
It can be quite annoying. You're looking at a white wall
or reading a book or simply staring off into space and
these little black specks are floating around in your
vision. These "floaters" are often described by those
who see them as "spiders," "spots," "soot," or "cobwebs."
They continue to move or drift for a short time after
the eye has come to rest after looking in a certain
direction. Floaters are more likely to be seen when
looking at a plain, bright background. Are they
dangerous? Not usually. They are simply collections
of collagen fibers in the eye's vitreous which cast a
shadow onto the retina. Normally they're not of clinical
significance and are felt to be a natural consequence
of degenerative changes (due to aging) in the vitreous.
The only time you SHOULD worry and go to see an
eye doctor is if there is a sudden dramatic change
in their appearance or number. Many new "floaters"
are occasionally a result of a vitreous detachment.
The vitreous jelly contracts with age, pulls loose from
its attachment to the retina, and peels away from the
retinal surface, sometimes producing the effect of
light flashes in the eye. Occasionally adhesions exist
that may result in retinal tears during vitreous
detachment. This could cause a retinal detachment -
a potentially blinding and very serious condition.

Estimated Political Web Ad Expenditures Reveal That
Money Is Still Miniscule

Political campaign spending for online advertising is
"chump change" right now, according to a George
Washington University academic who tracks such
spending. Campaigns' paltry online spending is
surprising, considering the numbers of people who
flock to the Web each day for news and information
regarding the presidential race and other contests.
As you can see things are still positive on the net these
days. It is true when they say the "net will disappear". It is
rapidly becoming such a part of out daily lives we no
long think of it as something new or different.
That the political campaigns are not using the net as
much as they could is only a reflection of them not
knowing how much they can do. That is common
amongst many. The single largest obstacle to using the
internet successfully is that folks don't know how to use
it. That, of course, is part of what theNEWSSHOP
newsletter service is about. It helps put a local business
on the "internet map".

Do you ever look at pictures in medical books or sites and
wonder why the patient is always facing to the front, in an
upright position? That's called the anatomical position. From
that viewpoint, everything is identified. So a medical person
anywhere in the world can relate to the picture or person. It
allows everyone to determine how "deviant" the situation is from
the normal. Everyone in the medical community studies this in
detail. It is the roadmap for their decisions. Each must learn
and understand and then apply this knowledge. The truth is the
truth. And remember that when a health care professional is
checking you in person, they are facing you. Same as the picture
person. So the doctor's "left" is actually your "right". They
will immediately "translate" this to the correct side. There are
also imaginary lines drawn all over your body. They describe
different parts of the body in quadrants or planes. Each has a
specific meaning. So if you directed me to a pain in your left
upper quadrant, I would know what structures lie underneath that
point. And cavities ("hollow" or "unoccupied" spaces) exist in
your body. They are not solely holes in your teeth. Everyone
has an anterior and a posterior side: front and back. Because
everyone's anatomy is virtually identical, you can see how
quickly someone can make a medical assumption. Granted once in
while someone has an anomaly or an unusual position or no organ
at all but here we are only dealing with the normal anatomy for
the general population.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

As they approached, Sam called to the cat, "Hello Tiger.
How are you? That's a nice cat, come here. Come Tiger."
They were on land now and Ben had not even noticed.
He was watching the cat. They had no weapons,
something Ben was used to in the world from which he
had just come.
Tiger decided to come to the men. This was his turf. If
these men were dangerous or threatening he would
make short work of them. Such was the law of the jungle.
But there was something familiar about these two. Tiger
did not know them, of course, but the love Sam broadcast
was like that of his friend Eloise. Tiger approached
without fear.
Ben was a little concerned, but Sam had not a fear in
the world.
Tiger brushed up against Sam's legs. He began to purr.
Then he went over and did the same with Ben. Ben
reached down to pet the cat. It was accepted.
"Look! He isn't afraid. He must be used to humans."
said Ben.
"He is Ben. He spent his youth with Eloise, David and
Boolanga, that season they were all here building a
canoe to go home. Midnight chased him off when his
time had come, and Midnight, herself, decided to follow
Eloise, David and Boolanga. That is why she now lives
with Boolanga." said Sam.
The men walked up to the camp and sat down on the
ground, campfire style. They were looking out onto the
lake created by the rains, and from which they had just
come.
"So, you can walk on water." said Sam.
"Oh! My God! I forgot. Yes we were out there weren't we.
My goodness, when I saw the cat I forgot all about it. Sam!
Is that how this works?" asked Ben.
"Ben, all the while you were looking into my eyes and
holding my hand you were trusting me. You knew you
were walking on water, but you were trusting me. You were
still apprehensive when I let go of your hand so you
continued to look me in the eye, being afraid to do otherwise,
for fear you would sink. The moment I was able to get your
attention on something other than yourself, you instinctively
trusted all was well and you then became concerned about
something else, in this case, Tiger." said Sam.
"So then, when I was busy with Tiger, I wasn't thinking of
something I couldn't do. In fact I was then doing it and I
thought nothing about it. I accepted it." said Ben.
"You got it. You took action and trusted. Now, notice. You did
not trust on the basis you were trying to continually talk yourself
into it. You just did it because that is what you had to do. You
gave not one thought to it once you were onto something else.
It is not a case of "selling" yourself on the idea, Ben. You just
did it. Now, of course you know you can walk on water and
there is nothing to it. Go on out there and do it again."
ordered Sam.
Ben rose and walked to the lake. He stopped at the waters
edge and looked back at Sam.
"Go on. See yourself as walking on water and just do." yelled
Sam from the distance.
Ben took his first step and his second immediately. He was
walking on water, all by himself. Something funny was going
on. He felt completely different. He knew he shouldn't be, or
couldn't do this, but he was. He "knew" he could do it.
From that time on Ben Striker was a different man. He walked
back to Sam, trying to control his inner excitement. "Sam, I can
do this. Is this what higher law is all about, believing?" asked
Ben.
"That's it Ben. It is just that simple. Most folks will not believe
it to be that simple and so, they miss it. They will fight about it
saying it is impossible. They will immediately go to their holy
books and find passages that say you are wrong, that you
must do what the rest of them are doing. They will immediately
chastise you and point you out as dangerous. They fight to
the last breath to defend what they believe in Ben, so be
prepared." answered Sam.
"Sam, I have much to learn. This is only one thing. Please
stay with me and teach me what I must know." asked Ben.
"I will, Ben. That is enough for the day, except I want you
thinking about one thing, the law "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
It is the most fundamental of all laws and must be understood
in the core of your being, before we proceed. We will speak of
this as time goes on." answered Sam.
