What is the origin of the word "dunce"?
Poor John Duns Scotus! He hoped to go down
in history as a wise scholar, but instead he gave
us the word "dunce." John Duns Scotus was a
thirteenth-century scholastic theologian. His
teachings couldn't have been TOO lame, because
he still had followers, called "Dunses" or "Dunsmen,"
as late as the sixteenth century. Unfortunately, the
Dunses were laughed at by the sixteenth-century
humanist scholars and religious reformers who felt
the followers of Scotus were behind the times and
resistant to the new learning. By the time the
sixteenth century had drawn to a close, the word
"dunce" had come to mean one opposed to
learning or "a stupid person."
Is a "wizard" a "wise man"?
It's true that the word "wizard" is a compound formed
from the adjective "wise" ("learned") and the suffix
"ard." Unfortunately, the suffix "ard" is generally not
a nice one (think of all the words ending in "ard" like
drunkard, coward, laggard). Technically, "ard" means
"one that habitually or excessively is in a specified
condition." But it's almost always used in a pejorative
sense. Adding "ard" to "wise" may have been a way
to be contemptuous and imply the wise man wasn't
so wise.

Sometimes We Ask Too Much!

Emily Sue passed away and Bubba called
911. The 911 operator told Bubba that she
would send someone out right away.
"Where do you live?" asked the operator. Bubba
replied, "At the end of Eucalyptus Drive." The
operator asked, "Can you spell that for me?"
There was a long pause and finally Bubba
said... "How 'bout if I drag her over to Oak Street
and you pick her up there?"
It's true, sometimes we ask too much. Have you ever
been to a trade show, like a Home and Garden show,
where, as you pass by booths the folks there call you
in and begin to show you their wares? Then when
you are there they begin to ask questions like your
name, your phone number, and the like? Soon, if you
cooperate they want your address, sometimes they
want more, like age, sex, occupation. All this is done
under the innocent auspices of a "survey" and at the
end of it you will get a chance at a free draw where
you will get some fabulous prize, like a set of steak
knives.
Leaving that now, have you ever been confronted,
say in a shopping mall, with someone who is doing
the same kind of thing? Maybe they are asking you
for your information so you can get a store credit card.
If you are anything like me, these situations make
me uncomfortable and I do not participate.
It is a condition often seen on the internet, too. A
merchant will want to sell you something, but beyond
the simple here it is and here is how much it costs,
they seem to think they want to study the
"demographics".
Studies have proven this kind of "sale" actually
fails and they lose more sales than they get.
The point here is that often organizations will use
one action to "get in the door" and then promote
another action. Is that you? Do you do that?
I know that when that happens to me I immediately
terminate the condition. If you say to me you want my
attention to do one thing, then come on strong on
another course, I ask you to leave my presence, fast.
In a subtle sense, that is fraudulent.
In the joke above, the 911 agent must surely have
had a map. The point is that is a dumb question
to ask under the circumstances.
Let us not be against surveys. Simply let us be
truthful about our intentions, what we need the
information for, and give our prospect the opportunity
to decline, without embarrassment. Every person
on the face of the earth has a right to say yes please,
or no thank you to everything that confronts them.
Respect that and you will get a lot further.

It all sounds very difficult, and confusing AND time
consuming! However, once you see how easy it is
to provide your body with these positive factors and
eliminate harmful or negative ones, it's not so
complicated. But up till now you have probably taken
your body for granted. It may be running on "empty".
You moved without any consideration for the
consequences to your joints. You probably didn't
realise that just your (external) home, you body
needs regular maintenance or a breakdown will occur.
Now that you have a greater understanding, you will
find questions to your answers. If you recognize some
possible allergies, find out why you have them and
why the entire world doesn't have them. Yes, many
do, but again, they are not a natural phenomenon.
Find out what is going into your body via foods, drugs,
or environmental "irritants". Ask why your body
puts up a fight (asthma attack or sneezing) when
something gets into your nose or lungs. Your
respiratory system is trying to protect you. Yet for
convenience sake, you take a drug to kill your protective
defence mechanisms. If you find your elbows stiff after
tennis, ask yourself why.
I am really glad we are on an anti-aging crusade but
I think it comes from the wrong sector of society. Rebuild
your own body with common sense and healthy choices.
Ask yourself how you can feed and nurture every cell
of your body's systems. Your entire body needs adequate
and appropriate nutrition, and the elimination of harmful
intruders. (Drugs, allergens, unhealthy environments, etc.)
You are the gatekeeper. RSVP your way back to health.
Read all you can. Study what you really don't understand.
Visualize yourself in full health (no matter what your present
state is.). Then get practical. Follow proper eating habits
and exercise your body. You don't have to run a marathon.
A gentle walk will do and you can increase the pace as you
feel like it. Make the changes you know are necessary. And
please remember you are NOT your spouse, your parent,
or anyone else. You are strictly you. Only you have been
privilege of living in this body for now. It is your responsibility
to nurture it so we can all benefit from your mission
through life.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"You are looking on that through the eyes of mankind, not
the eyes of a Master. Do you recall the time when Jesus
brought back to life his friend Lazarus? That was a number
of days after he had died. Someone will always come and
the matter will always be resolved, Ben. Think not with the
mind of earthly men. Live in the world but be not
of it." said Sam.
"That will take practice, Sam." said Ben.
"Yes. That is exactly what it takes. That and knowing I and
others are available to you anytime. Tell me, how would
you like to take me to see my daughter?" asked Sam.
"That would be neat. But how do I do that? You want me
to take you? Let me think on that for a minute. This is all
new to me, Sam." answered Ben.
"Good, while you are doing that, let's have a bite to eat.
Here, have this fruit. I'll wait until you are ready with the
question I asked." said Sam.
The two men ate some fruit, looked out upon the opening
of the day, and chatted about a lot of things. The "new life"
was beginning to settle in on Ben. It was peaceful here,
amongst the chatter of birds and other jungle noises.
Ben lay back on the ground, with his hands beneath his
head, and studied the sky, through the overhanging
canopy of trees. The day would be a warm one.
"Sam, when you brought me down here, it was as if we
traveled with light speed. There was no time passed
between the time we left Pinehill and the time we ended
up here. Right?" asked Ben.
"That's right!" Sam responded.
"Then that must also be because of this underlying
spiritual matrix you speak of, correct?" asked Ben.
"That's right, again, Ben."
"Then you must have known this spot, envisioned it,
seen both of us here, and, there we were. Is that
right?" asked Ben.
"In a manner of speaking, Ben, that's right. However,
sometimes you are called upon to go where you have
never been, and you have no idea what things look like
there. What you do in that case is concentrate on the
caller. You may never have seen the caller either, but
they emit the call, so you 'home' in on the energy of that
call. and appear at it's source." said Sam, "That is why I
asked you to take me to see my daughter. The first time
you do this it helps if you have been to the place and
know what it looks and feels like. Additionally, I will show
you how to remain invisible, and to remain 'in the ethers'
so to speak, so you will be able to see and know the
situation before you reveal yourself."
"Wow! This gets complicated." observed Ben.
"Not really Ben. It is simply prudent sometimes to be
fully aware of what lies ahead before you
'arrive'." said Sam.
"Are you ready?" asked Ben.
He took Sam's hand, then closed his eyes. He
envisioned the village where Eloise and Mazunta lived.
He remembered it well from the time he was there at
Eloise's wedding. He got the vision, the feeling of the
place, then he "KNEW" he was there. He saw he and
Sam standing near the fire circle in the village common.
He opened his eyes because he heard excited chatter
around him.
"Mr. Sam, Mr. Sam, and Mr. Ben! It is good to see you
said the villagers. Much to Ben's pleasure they were
now in the village where Eloise and Mazunta lived.
There was much talk around the village that Sam and
Ben had arrived. The villagers were always pleased
when Sam showed up, plus, though Ben was a surprise,
they enjoyed him too.
Soon they were standing in front of Eloise and Mazunta.
"Well, you two, it's good to see you!" said Eloise as she
jumped up and gave her Dad a big hug. Then she stepped
over and gave Ben a hug, and whispered in his ear,
"Good work, Mr. Striker. Welcome to our world." Standing
back and holding Ben's hands, transmitting love unto him,
she smiled and looked him right in the eye. Ben knew
he had arrived.
