What is the only bone in the body that does not connect
to other bones?
The hyoid bone, in the throat, is the only bone in the
human body that does not connect to other bones. Its
job is to support the tongue and its muscles.
Why do we call twins who are attached to each other
physically, "Siamese twins"?
We call physically-attached twins "Siamese twins" because
of a famous pair of twins in the 1800s who were actually from
Siam. Chang and Eng, brothers attached at the chest, were
brought to the US by famous circus promoter P.T. Barnum.
They eventually married Sarah and Adelaide, unattached
sisters, and had 22 children between them. They died in
1874, within hours of each other. If they had lived in the
twentieth century instead of the nineteenth, they might have
been surgically separated.

Life Just Gets Better, Don't It?
An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for
several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed
up nice; picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some
apple and peach trees. The pond was ideal for
swimming, although he rarely did that anymore.
One evening he decided to go down to the pond, as
he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He
grabbed a five gallon bucket with which to bring back
some fruit.
As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and
laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a
bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He
made the women aware of his presence and they all
went to the deep end.
One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming
out until you leave!"
The old man frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch
you ladies swim naked or to make you get out of the
pond naked."
Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to feed the
alligator."
Crafty old chap now isn't he? This particular joke tickled my
funny bone for quite a while. I love it and it makes me think
he is not unlike a lot of folks who get to be considered the
"older generation".
I think, because of his appreciation of life and for his quick
witted mind he is finding life is better and better every day.
That's the picture I would like to paint today, one of life
getting better and better as you age. It does, you know,
if you let it. The operative words here are "let it". Wisdom
sets in as a result of all your experiences. It brings with
it a joy and happiness that is not founded on material
goods or recognition from anyone. It lies within
you and makes you happy just to be you.
The old saying that "Life is always good this side of the
grass" is one born of wisdom and appreciation for life
itself. It is not because one accumulates more wealth or
is famous. It is because the years bring a wisdom and
happiness that is centered inside and wants to get out
to be spread to other people.
Be gracious and let that happen to you. They say the
retirement years are the golden years. I am not exactly
certain what that is supposed to mean but these years
are most certainly golden and wonderful if you allow
them to be. There is a feeling that wells up inside you
giving you peace, contentment, joy and happiness
unknown to any age previous. They are wonderful
years and yet they still permit one to contribute, which,
now, in itself, brings even more joy.
Look at these years as a reward. Envision them
coming upon you as a pall of joy, of worthiness,
completeness. In permitting that to happen you, too
will discover ...

Courage: How To Find It And Be Yourself
PART 7 of 8
The Power Pause was created by John
Harricharan http://www.insight2000.com But the person
who shared it with me was Darel Rutherford
http://www.beingsolution.com I would encourage you to
visit both websites. Darel taught me that I needed to
use my own abilities along with all I was already
doing. That allowed me to relax. It gave me the courage
and confidence to do things on my own. Doing this
doesnt take you from anything thing you already do. It
helps to develop the special person you are meant to
be. Darel is a phenomenal teacher: wise, gentle, yet
very persistent!
Lets combine the Power Pause and your hidden dream:
that glimpse of what could be or spark of interest in a
future, treasured moment. Unearth your desire to live
on a houseboat for a month or to take a tour of resorts
through the Rockies. Your dream might be to fish for
Alaska salmon or paint a mountain view in the Swiss
Alps or a thoroughbred on a Kentucky ranch. With this
tool, you are suddenly there! I had a bit of difficulty
seeing my tree-lined driveway, overarched with
branches of double cherry blossoms, feeling the warm
sun and gentle spring breeze as I jingled coins in my
jean pocket. But I persisted and found pictures in
magazines. Soon I had all I needed to create my
vision. So combine your vision with the actions of the
Power Pause, and you have an instant stress reliever.
Plus you can feel what it is like to be living this
dream! Try it. Its quick. The Power Pause only takes
minutes to learn, a few more to create your vision, and
youre ready. Its meant as a three minute distraction
or interrupt tool. However I use it frequently if I am
not happy about a particular situation and want to
escape. Now I ask you, would this take courage to do?
For most people it does until they try it. Then its
their secret hiding place, available at the drop of an
eyelash or a glance inward. Talk about relaxation! And
because this is you and because this is your own
creation, it connects the possibility of doing this at
some point in your life.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"He just smiled and began to talk with me. We
spoke of a lot of things. I wanted to know what
happened to the man I shot. I wanted to know if he
was the police. I wanted to know why he wanted to
talk with me. He told me who he was and he told me
what happened to the man I shot. He told me about
living my life using higher law, rather than
grovel in the garbage and continue the way I was.
He told me about a law, "As ye sow, so shall ye
reap." We talked long on that law and he showed me
how all my actions produce a predictable result.
He showed me if I acted one way I would get this
and if I acted another way I would get that. He
showed me how I was in control of my own life and
that if I knew this law I could change the things
that were happening to me."
Romano's story was captivating to Juanita. She
was beginning to become involved with the story
and was, inadvertently, letting her guard down.
"Then what happened?"
"We continued to talk. By the time we were
done I was confused. I did not know what I wanted,
but one thing was clear. I was spending my life in
fear. I did not like that. This man showed me it
was possible to live life without fear. It
intrigued me. I wanted to learn more. He then
thought we had done enough for one day and said he
would be back tomorrow at the same time and place.
We could talk more then, and he vanished, just
vanished. He disappeared into thin air and I had
no idea where he was. One minute he was there and
the next he was invisible."
"Come on, no one can do that."
"Juanita, did you see me leave yesterday?"
"No, I was too busy getting dressed."
"Now, today, I am here to talk to those who
want to listen. Only you appeared, yet, this is
the second opportunity for Pedro. He is afraid of
me. You see, I went back to talk to the man the
following day. It was that day I decided I wanted
to try to live like he did. So, I decided I no
longer wanted to be a part of the gang. Pedro was
the leader then, too, and I was the second in
command. There were more of us in those days. When
I told the gang I no longer wanted to be a part of
them they became angered. They thought I felt they
were no good for me and they took that as an
insult. Pedro had two members hold me with my back
against one of the posts and he began to carve me
up with his knife. He had me bleeding from all
over. I was a mess and in terrible pain. That
knife of his was dirty. Finally he just rammed it
into my gut and then again into my chest. I
collapsed, draining blood. They waited until
nightfall and then they carried me out to the
garbage dump and left me to die. That is what I
would have done had it not been for this man. He
told me, that day, how to reach him. All I had to
do was hold the image of him in my mind and call.
He said he would come immediately."
"Is that what you did?"
"Yes. I could see him in my mind and, in my
mind I called out. The next thing I knew he and
his woman were there working over me. She dressed
me for I was completely naked. He stood over me
with his hands facing me. I could see light coming
from those hands and I felt something inside me
taking away all my pain and the grogginess that
was within me. He spoke, again quietly, yet it
sounded like a drum within my head. He said 'Rise
up and walk.' It was then I was beginning to feel
better. I had forgotten what had happened to me
and I stood up. It was as if there was nothing
wrong with me. I was whole. He introduced me to
his woman and we talked for a while again."
"Did you go back to the gang to show them?"
"Not until yesterday. That is why Pedro is so
frightened. He was certain I was dead and the fact
I am walking around has him in a state of
confusion. He was afraid and tried to kill me
again with his knife and then with his gun. So
long as I am alive I am a symbol of his impotence.
If he cannot kill me he has no power within the
gang. That is what is going through his mind."
"What are you going to do about that? He might
try again and again."
"Yes Juanita. I am not afraid. He cannot kill
me. It is you I am worried about. You must be
careful of your thinking and what you say. The
same thing might happen to you as to me. Be aware
that if you decide you want to talk with me any
more then it might cost you dearly. That is the
risk you take if you want to talk with me. If you
do you can reach me by holding my image in your
mind and calling. I will come."
"I will think on the things you have said. I
will not do anything except what I decide to do.
You will not make me do anything."
"That is fine Juanita. I think we have talked
enough for this day. I will return tomorrow and be
right here if you want to talk some more."
Romano rose to leave. Juanita did, too.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
"A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds."
---- Francis Bacon
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
Juan comes up to the Mexican border on his bicycle. He
has two large bags over his shoulders. The guard stops
him and says, "What's in the bags?"
"Sand," answered Juan.
The guard says, "We'll just see about that. Get off the bike."
The guard takes the bags and rips them apart; he empties
them out and finds nothing in them but sand. He detains
Juan overnight and has the sand analyzed, only to discover
that there is nothing but pure sand in the bags The guard
releases Juan, puts the sand into new bags, hefts them
onto the man's shoulders, and lets him cross the border.
A week later, the same thing happens. The guard asks,
"What have you got?"
"Sand," says Juan.
The guard does his thorough examination and discovers
that the bags contain nothing but sand. He gives the sand
back to Juan, and Juan crosses the border on his bicycle.
This sequence of events if repeated every day for three
years. Finally, Juan doesn't show up one day and the
guard meets him in a Cantina in Mexico.
"Hey, Buddy," says the guard, "I know you are smuggling
something. It's driving me crazy. It's all I think about..... I
can't sleep. Just between you and me, what are you
smuggling?"
Juan sips his drink and says, "Bicycles."
