Do identical twins share the same fingerprints?

No. They may be identical genetically, but they have
unique fingerprints.

How many spiders are in an acre of rural land?

If you suffer from arachnophobia (fear of spiders), beware
the countryside. An average of 50,000 spiders roam an
acre of land. Spiders reduce the number of other insects,
annually killing a hundred times their number.

The Cab Ride
Author Unknown

When I arrived at 2:30 a.m. the building was dark
except for a single light in a ground floor window.
Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk
once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away.

But I had seen too many impoverished people who
depended on taxis as their only means of
transportation. Unless a situation smelled of
danger I always went to the door. This passenger might
be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to
myself.

So I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute",
answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something
being dragged across the floor. After a long pause the
door opened. A small woman in her 80s stood before me.
She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a
veil pinned on it like somebody out of a 1940s movie.
By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment
looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the
furniture was covered with sheets. There were no
clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the
counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with
photos and glassware.

"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I
took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist
the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward
the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness.

"It's nothing", I told her. "I just try to treat my
passengers the way I would want my mother treated".
"Oh, you're such a good boy", she said. When we got in
the cab, she gave me an address, then asked,  "Could
you drive through downtown?"

"It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

"Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my
way to a hospice". I looked in the rearview mirror. Her
eyes were glistening. "I don't have any family left," she
continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long."

I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What
route would you like me to take?" I asked. For the next
two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the
building where she had once worked as an elevator
operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she
and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She
had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that
had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as
a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a
particular building or corner and would sit staring
into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she
suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now." We drove in
silence to the address she had given me. It was a low
building, like a small convalescent home, with a
driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies
came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were
solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They
must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and
took the small suitcase to the door.

The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

"How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into
her purse.

"Nothing," I said.

"You have to make a living," she answered.  "There are
other passengers," I responded. Almost without thinking,
I bent and gave her a hug.

She held onto me tightly. "You gave an old woman a little
moment of joy," she said. "Thank you." I squeezed her
hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind
me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a
life. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift.
I drove aimlessly,  lost in thought. For the rest of
that day, I could hardly talk.

What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one
who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had
refused to take the run, or had honked once, then
driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I
have done anything more important in my life. We're
conditioned to think that our lives revolve around
great moments. But great moments often catch us
unaware--beautifully wrapped in what others may
consider a small one.

People may not remember exactly what you did, or
what you said, but they will always remember how
you made them feel.

HOW TO CHOOSE A NUTRITIONAL
SUPPLEMENT: A "Multivitamin" Safely And Wisely
Part 1 of 5

Please know that all vitamin and mineral supplements are
NOT alike! You may be tempted to buy the biggest bottle of
Vitamin C from the "big box" store pharmacy. But the perceived
value may not be reflected in your desired outcome or result.

What follows are some questions and answers on
HOW TO CHOOSE A NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT. There
will be a brief mention as to why you need to start taking
supplements, but mainly this will be how to buy something
that will help you support your immune system. And this
immune system is the very framework for your health and
ultimately your life. It should be treated like gold!

Why Do We Need To Supplement If We Eat Carefully?

Your body needs macronutrients as well as micronutrients.
That means the broccoli (macro) and carrots (macro) you
eat must have adequate amounts of both vitamins (micro) and
minerals (micro). But our food value isn't nearly as abundant
as it was 20 years ago. Many studies are available. These
studies also include why your foods are so depleted in the
appropriate nutrients.

What Are "Free Radicals" And "Anti-Oxidants"? Why should
you know about them? The most important medical discovery
of the last half-century concerns "free radicals" and
"anti-oxidants". Free radicals have been linked to (at last
count) to at least 60 diseases. And we now have evidence
that anti-oxidants can stop and (in some cases) can even
reverse the damage done by free radicals" Dr. Robert D. Willix Jr.

Here is a definition of the term: "chronic": A chronic condition
is continuous or persistent over an extended period of time.
A chronic condition is one that is long-standing, not easily
or quickly resolved.
"Chronic" is the opposite of acute. Do you go to the doctor for
fatigue, diabetes, heart problems, elevated cholesterol levels?
Those are chronic illnesses.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has already
reversed its position on the use of supplements. 'Policy-Reversal'
of the American Medical Association - who now consider
supplements to be a very important aspect in preventing
disease. JAMA Recommends Taking Supplements! Please
draw your own conclusions.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Romano was finished with his speech. He caused
the gang to have movement once more. Looking over
to his wife he saw Oomano had Juanita up and
dressed. All was well.

"What do you think you are, a witch doctor?
You think you can come in here and tell us all
these things and then walk out? You're full of
crap. You have no power over me." Pedro was
insolent.

He reached over to grab one of the women of
the gang. Instantly he and she were in terrible
pain. Pedro fell to the ground writhing in pain
and holding his testicles. The woman was holding
her groin and had to sit. Both were screaming.

With that Romano winked at Oomano. She put her
arm around Juanita and the three of them walked
out of the room, down the stairs and out of the
building.

"That will give them something to think on for
a while." Romano was dead serious. "They will no
longer be harmful to anyone. Their power has been
consumed by their own habits. Juanita, you met my
wife, Oomano?"

"Yes, she is very lovely."

"We want you to come stay with us for a while,
at least until you have made up your mind what you
want to do with your life. Do you want to talk
about what just happened?" Oomano thought she
might.

"Yes! What did happen?"

"You were beaten. They sexually used you many
times, then Pedro stabbed you, once in your belly
and once in your chest. This they did after
carving you up in spots."

Juaninta suddenly grasped at her breasts. She
remembered.

"No, Juanita, there are no marks left. You are
perfectly whole and without blemish. They left you
for dead and were going to haul you to the dump
just as they did so long ago to my husband. Just
before you lost consciousness you called Romano.
He knew immediately what was happening and asked
me to come along. When we arrived you were lying
on the floor slowly bleeding to death. The rest of
the group were at that makeshift table laughing
over what had happened to you."

"Why do they do these things? I never hurt
them or did anything that would bring harm."

"Such gangs and the people in them live in
fear, Juanita. Pedro thought you now knew his ugly
secrets so now you had to go. Men who live this
way will only take advantage of the weaker or
incapacitated. They will never fight on equal
terms. They are all cowards and by doing such
things to you they think they show how tough and
brave they are. It is the way with all men. Once
they are in a position to harm someone, with no
possible harm coming to themselves then they will
do anything. Man's world is full of prisons where
that principle is practiced by inmates and guards
alike. It takes strong, courageous men to deal
fairly and with justice. These men are not it."

"But how could I hurt them?"

"That does not matter Juanita. Pedro first of
all blind sided you. Once he had you weakened and
on the floor he could then do anything to you and
with you. That is what he did. The object was not
to get at you but to show the others what a mean
man he was so they would keep that in mind when
they thought of going against him. He was putting
on a show to appear tough."

"What will happen to him now?"

"He will become preoccupied with his present
infirmity. His mind will always be on wanting
sexual practice but he will be unable to touch a
woman. The moment he does, even by accident he
will experience this terrible pain. It will
incapacitate him for days. Even if he pets a
female animal he will experience this pain. He
will have no trust in himself enough to ever lead
the gang again. None within the gang will be able
to lead. That is the end of the gang and they will
no longer bring harm on any man, woman or child."

"What about the two girls?"

"They, too, enjoyed what was happening. They
were a full part of what was going on. They, too,
shall now suffer and will never be able to touch a
man, or have a man touch them, again."

"That is a little rough isn't it?"

"What do you call what they did to you?"

"Well ... we ...?"

"It is the law, Juanita. "As ye sow, so shall
ye reap."

"But what about me? Shall I not reap the
rewards of my actions?"

"Did you not already pay the price? You were
left for dead after being abused and cut up like a
roast pig. Is that not enough? That we came to get
you and give you a new life means not that you
must continue to pay. It means you now have a new
life and from this day what you write on the pages
will be read and rewarded. You have a new
beginning, Juanita. The moment you make the
commitment to live by higher law you begin a new
life. The old one falls away and you can now start
life anew. If you do not commit to higher law, in
your case, you still begin anew because you have
been brought back from the dead. You already paid
the price for your past."

HA! HA! HA!

A Mexican bandit made a specialty of crossing the
Rio Grande from time to time and robbing banks in
Texas. Finally, a reward was offered for his capture,
and an enterprising Texas ranger decided to track
him down.

After a lengthy search, he traced the bandit to his
favorite cantina, snuck up behind him, put his trusty
six-shooter to the bandit's head, and said, "You're
under arrest. Tell me where you hid the loot or I'll
shoot you."

But the bandit didn't speak English, and the Ranger
didn't speak Spanish.

The Ranger asked a local to translated his message.
The terrified bandit blurted out, in Spanish, that the
loot was buried under the oak tree in back of the
cantina.

"What did he say?" asked the Ranger anxiously

The local answered, He say, "He no afraid to die!"
