How intelligent are pigs?
Pigs are very intelligent animals. Studies have shown that
pigs are more intelligent than MOST other animals, with the
exception of primates. The can easily be trained to perform
simple tricks.
Do fingerprints serve a purpose, other than as identification?
They actually do have a function: fingerprints provide traction
for your fingers, making it easier for you to hold onto things.

Are You Disciplined?
For most people, the word "discipline" has an immediate
negative connotation. It implies something imposed from the
outside, doesn't it? It means that someone or something is
controlling or demanding, neither of which are particularly
appealing. When we do think about self-discipline, it, too,
often has a negative spin because it is seen as difficult and
contributing to failure. Can you think about it differently?
Self-discipline is nothing more than keeping your commitments
to yourself. If you say something is important and
significant to you, then take this little test:
Does that something that you SAY is important show up a
significant number of times in either your calendar, or your
checkbook, or both? If it does not, then, where is the
demonstration that it is important to you? Do you regularly
do what you say has value to you?
I'm sure you understand the picture. I believe behavior, not
words. How about you?
So, self-discipline arises from self-esteem and self-esteem is
enhanced by self-discipline. Then, it seems natural that you
take a look at your self-esteem. Do you believe that you are
worth spending the time and/or money on? Do you get the
"left-overs" of time and resources rather than filling your
own cup? It is not unusual to feel that you are being a
"good" person when you are self-sacrificing. That's because
our society often tells us this is so. Oh, good thinking! The
society says so because everyone else benefits from your
self-sacrifice. In fact, "sacrifice" itself is an interesting
concept. The dictionary says it means "the act of giving up
or destroying one thing for the sake of something else".
Do you really want to be SELF-sacrificing?

Head Aches Or Headaches...Why?
PART 4 of 7
So a normal brain would function as you would expect it
to: relaxed, consistent activities, controlled by a
healthy underlying set of programs. All you need to
provide are the nutrients, water and oxygen. You may be
familiar with the acronym: GIGO. In our case it means
Good (things) In: Garbage Out. And that provides for a
health lifestyle without head aches. An ache would be
abnormal: a distortion of routine activities. Then you
have to ask why. Something has obviously interfered
with the GIGO cycle. How does the body normally respond
to inadequate support? It aches or becomes irritable:
for a short period of time and long-term. But for the
sake of this discussion, it will simply ache.
Most people naturally instinctively look for obvious
causes but a few just reach for the headache tablet
bottle. They have little desire to do more, or maybe
they dont realise they could do more. Lets pretend
you are going to do some investigating.
If we use the analogy of a locomotive, we see it has a
long lifespan if it is well maintained. So does your
body. Just as the engine has hardware and software, so
does your brain. Only your brain is incredibly more
powerful! The odd glitch or ache in a locomotive is
quickly and easily corrected. But it does demonstrate
that if there is a slight interruption in its care and
feeding, it becomes less effective in pulling loads of
railcars and their products. Should the engine
present with some sort of hindrance or slowdown,
everyone immediately looks for possible causes: inside
and outside. Anything on the tracks? Anything blocking
its way? Wheels OK? Is it getting enough fuel? Are all
the engine parts working as they should? So it is with
your head. From what you already know, something is
preventing the regular distribution of the vital
nutrients, water and / or oxygen from reaching their
destination: the cells. Just as the locomotive engineer
would search for both internal and external possible
causes, so should you examine the outside environment
and the inside of your brain.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

The wind was still howling outside as Mae and
Susan first became aware of the day. They were
lying on their mats on the floor in the corner of
the village public house, having had a wonderful
night's sleep.
They were first awakened by the sounds of
little feet walking across the floor. Both the
youngsters, Long Stze and Ming Stze were coming to
see how the ladies had slept. Like all kids they
were up and at the day earlier than their parents.
"Good morning you two! How are you this
morning?" Mae saw them and asked.
"Goo-ood." The answer had a bit of a pause in
the middle as if they were still thinking about
it.
"Would you like to climb into bed with us?"
Susan was asking Long Stze who was the closer.
He didn't wait to answer. He simply lay down
beside her and she brought the cover over the both
of them. He snuggled up tight to her body and
stayed still.
Ming Stze did the same with Mae and all four
of them slept for another couple hours that way.
As was their custom Mae and Susan had rendered
their "beds" soft and comfortable. The kids didn't
think about it much but they sure did enjoy the
comfort. Mae and Susan broadcast love unto each of
them. They felt warm and secure.
Mae was laying there opening her eyes from
time to time. With the warm body of this child
lying beside her it took her memory back home to
the village where her own grandchildren used to
come over early in the morning and snuggled up
with her. Little Maz and little Mae Eloise would
be growing up now and she missed them terribly.
Maz would be five now and Mae Eloise would be
three.
It was all Mae could do to hold back the
tears. She had not realized she had been away from
them for so long. The kids in bed with them now
brought back poignant memories.
Mae knew it was about eight in the morning.
The house was beginning to stir. A light was
coming from the other room, which meant one of the
adults was up to light it. The building was warm,
in spite of the cold outside. True to Mae's word
it was comfortable, even though Long Chu had not
been up to stoke the fire.
That was the first thing Long Chu and Ming Lu
noticed upon rising in the early morning. The
place was warm and nice. They both stretched and
spoke of it, remembering the two guests in the
other room.
They looked in on the kids. They were gone.
Ming Lu called in a sort of loud whisper, wanting
to locate the kids without waking the guests. The
kids did not respond, at first, for they were
asleep. Mae answered by sending thoughts unto Ming
Lu's mind. "They're here, asleep with us."
The kids began to stir. It was their normal
time to rise. Bleary eyed and tousled hair they
responded to their Mother's call.
Mae and Susan rose, cleaned up the sleeping
area, made the mats vanish and were set for the
day.
Ming Lu appeared. "Would you like some
breakfast?" She asked of her guests.
"That would be nice Ming Lu, yes, we'll have
some breakfast."
"I see you are homesick." Susan was speaking
to Mae.
"I sure am Sue. The kids coming and sleeping
with us this morning put me in mind of Maz and Mae
Eloise. I suddenly miss them. Maybe we should go
to the village today and visit for a while."
"That would be nice. I might even take a day
to go home to see if the house is still standing."
Susan laughed a short snicker.
"Good. That's what we'll do then."
Ming Lu came with two bowls of some substance
that resembled porridge. It was rice cooked in
something sweet and containing some other grain.
There was no additional milk or sugar, only
ceramic spoons came with the meal. Mae and Susan
ate hungrily. The meal was very good.
The ladies waited a while until all the family
had finished with their meal. Then the two of them
walked over to door to the other room and knocked
on the door frame. The doorway had no proper
closing door but was strung with beads that caused
the separation to be respected. A voice came from
within the room, "Come in."
Susan spoke first. "Miss Mae and I are leaving
now. We wish to go to our homes to see our
families. Thank you for your kind hospitality and
for sharing your home with us. We will be back,
likely in a month so we can continue our journey.
Again, thank you." With a wave of her hand Susan
caused all the foodstuffs in the kitchen to be
doubled.
Ming Lu and Long Chu came over to them,
bowing. "Thank you. Please come back. We would
love to have you return to us."
With that Mae and Susan walked back into the
main room, leaving Ming Lu and Long Chu in the
doorway.
With a flick of Mae's hand the two ladies
disappeared.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
After just a few years of marriage filled with constant
arguments, a young man and his wife decided the only
way to save their marriage was to try counseling. They
had been at each other's throats for some time
and felt that this was their last straw.
When they arrived at the counselor's office, the counselor
jumped right in and opened the floor for discussion.
"What seems to be the problem?"
Immediately, the husband held his long face down without
anything to say. In contrast, the wife began talking
90 miles an hour, describing all the wrongs within their
marriage.
After 15 minutes of listening to the wife, the counselor
went over to her, picked her up by her shoulders, kissed
her passionately and sat her back down. Afterwards, the
wife sat speechless.
The marriage counselor looked over at the husband, who
stared in disbelief. The counselor said to the husband,
"Your wife NEEDS that at least twice a week!"
The husband scratched his head and replied, "I can
have her here on Tuesdays and Thursdays."
