Do a mother and fetus share the same blood during gestation?
Many people believe a mother and her fetus share blood
during gestation, but this is untrue. The mother's circulation is
entirely separate from her fetus and at no time do the two
exchange blood; this is why mother and baby can have
different blood types without problems (except, of course, in
the case of Rh factor incompatibility). The mother provides
necessary substances -- such as minerals, vitamins, oxygen,
and protein -- to the placenta via her blood. The fetus' blood
then circulates through the placenta to pick these substances
up. But the mother's blood and the fetus' blood do not mix in
the process.
How did Frank Baum come up with "Oz" as the name for his
mythical kingdom?
Frank Baum claimed that he came up with the name "Oz" for
his famous children's book by looking at a filing cabinet
marked O-Z. Some biographers, however, think he was just
spinning another fantasy.

Study: Identity Theft Continues To Yoke E-commerce
by Gavin O'Malley, Tuesday, Feb 15, 2005 7:00 AM EST
NEARLY 70 PERCENT OF ONLINE consumers feel the
online merchants they do business with are falling short
when it comes to protecting their personal information,
according to a survey released Monday by
Bedford Mass.-based company RSA Security. The
study found that 25 percent of online shoppers
recognized that persistent security fears were crimping
their shopping behavior.
Challenging the notion that an informed consumer is
a happy consumer, 61 percent of respondents said
they feel more informed about identity theft issues, and
23 percent noted that they feel more vulnerable than
they did a year ago.
Twenty-one percent of consumers still refuse to use
online banking, the survey found--sad news for a
financial industry attempting to cut operational costs by
converting customers to online banking.
The third annual study asked more than 1,000 U.S.
consumers about how their attitudes regarding identity
theft, computer attacks, and other security issues had
changed over the past two years. The results were
released to coincide with the annual RSA security
conference in San Francisco this week.

Head Aches Or Headaches...Why?
PART 6 of 7
But once again, you are seeking clues for anything
interfering with the brains access to nutrients
(food), water or oxygen. Foods might be too salty,
attracting a lot of extra fluid. This will imbalance
the normal water levels. Food sensitivities could set
off allergic responses, bringing unwanted fluid or body
responses. Inadequate amounts of nutrients might come
about because of skipped meals or dieting. It might
mean an excess or inadequate adequate of water. Excess
water may result in washing out necessary balancing
chemicals (electrolytes). Can you see how fine the
balance in your body is?
You can do all this in seconds once you realise what
you are looking for. Now you are faced with a
decision
what to do about the findings. Are you going
to adjust your habits and make changes? As you mull
over this, your decision will naturally be based on
your underlying personality.
Are you an optimist? Do you have faith that something
is causing this symptom, and you will find the cause,
no matter what? Or are you a pessimist? (These people
also call themselves realists. I find that excuses them
from seeking more solutions.) You resign yourself to
not being able to find solutions. You accept the fact
that only drugs are the right approach for all
treatments. You tell yourself that you dont have time
to play around with this problem. Its easier and
quicker to take a headache pill.
Incidentally, chemicals are designed to do different
things. Some chemicals are made to have you feel good
and forget the headache. Some are designed to block the
natural action of the cells. Others are designed to
increase actions of connecting activities. Still, they
are all chemicals and any chemical in your body has a
side effect. And when the chemical actions wear off,
how will you feel? Will the headache returns? If so,
you will have more choices to make. None that I know
are designed to help you heal the problem. So it may be
up to you to decide to become your own detective: to
search for causes and ultimately discover new
solutions.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Susan appeared in her own living room. She
thought things were just as she had left them, and
they were. It was just that she had been away so
long everything was like new again to her.
She checked out the house and found everything
in perfect order. She had Sam and the boys to
thank for that. They kept the lawn mowed, or the
walks shovelled. They kept all the plants watered
and the house aired out. They looked after her
house as if it were their own. They even paid all
her bills for her in her absence.
After checking out the house she decided it
was time to go see her beloved neighbors, Sam and
Alewka. It was mid afternoon. The day was cool and
crisp, with a light touch of snow falling. It was
not cold like she had seen in China but it was
still jacket weather. That didn't bother Susan, of
course.
She knocked on the back door and then stepped
in as was her custom in the past.
"Susan!" Alewka called. She came running down
the steps and grabbed Susan as if she were
returned from the dead. Alewka was like that she
was a kind and loving person and would
enthusiastically embrace any friend anytime.
"Come, come, sit, have a coffee, tell us all
about your trip." The pair of the walked back up
the steps and into the kitchen.
"Hello Susan. How are you." Sam Henry rose
from the table and came to give Susan a big hug.
Susan always enjoyed Sam's hugs. Even though he
was bigger than her he was always gentle yet
loving. Susan liked that. She enjoyed her
neighbors, the Henrys.
"I'm fine you guys. Thank you for looking
after the house for me. Hello Tim, Tom, Billy, how
are you boys?"
"We're all fine Mrs. Miles" said Tim as he
came to hug her. The other two boys did as well.
Then they all sat down and waited for Susan to
tell them of the trip.
Again the stories took hours to tell. Susan
had them all enthralled with the telling of all
the events that has happened to her and Mae on
their journey.
And the Henry family were full of questions
just as the villagers were. Susan answered them
all. She enjoyed being the center of attention.
She felt the love this family offered. She felt
right at home here.
"More coffee, Susan?" Alewka was pouring her
third cup.
"So, what have you guys been up to? It's your
turn to bring me up to date."
"Same old, same old, Susan. We haven't been
anywhere much, other than the occasional trip on
some emergency somewhere. One day we will have to
do what you and Mae are doing, take a trip just
for the purpose of taking a journey." Sam was
always the conservative one and likely wouldn't
say too much about what he had done even if he had
single handedly saved the world from disaster.
"It's time for supper. You are going to stay
aren't you Susan? How long are you planning on
staying here this time?"
"Alewka, thank you, yes I'll stay for supper.
I am thinking of staying around for about a week,
maybe, then returning to the village. Mae and I
are only a third to half the way through what we
wanted to do with our journey, so we'll be
returning. We like the people in China. They're
warm, friendly, helpful, willing to share what
they have. They are nice folk. We want to return."
"Good. You know what, Sam. We should go over
and join them for a week or so. That would be
nice."
"I agree, honey. We'll do that, maybe a week
or so after they return. How's that?"
"Sam that would be wonderful. Both Mae and I
would like that." Susan broke into the
conversation.
"I think that would be great, Sam. Let's."
Supper didn't take long. Alewka had been so
interested in Susan's stories that she had not
prepared any food. When suppertime arrived she
merely manifest a dozen or more hamburgers with
all the trimmings. Her boys favorite meal was
hamburgers and she guessed Susan had not had one
since she had been away.
"We are expecting Darryl and Evelyn Sparks
over tonight for coffee and a visit. They are both
interested in higher law. They will love to hear
your stories Susan, and Darryl likes to spend time
with Sam."
"I think that will make a nice evening."
responded Susan. "So, boys, what have you been up
to?"
"Not much Mrs. Miles. Just hanging around. Oh.
Tim has a sweetheart. You may have met her, Sharon
Smithson?"

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
"The twin killers of success are impatience and greed."
---- Jim Rohn
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
Robert the bus driver was the best. He loved the kids that
drove to school each day and watched out for them when
they came to the bus and left it.
The one thing that Robert hated though was the paperwork.
Paperwork was an evil thing in his mind. All those forms to
fill out for any little thing. He needed to get the bus cleaned,
there was form, he needed to refuel, another form. The
school board had a form for every little thing you could
think of.
Well one Monday, the school board asked Robert to do
a field trip (another form to fill out). Needing the extra pay,
Robert agreed to haul the kids to the local museum
after lunch.
Monday's at this school were beans and weanie day,
and little Gloria just loved her beans and weanies. She
grabbed her a great big mound of those beans, and
heapin' helpin' of them weanies. She ate so much that
she felt her little tummy would burst.
As soon the kids finished their beans and weanies, they
boarded Robert's bus for the ride to the museum. As with
most cities, the road workers were out tearing up the road
they had to use, and digging up great gapin holes. Now
buses are not known for their great handling on bumpy
surfaces, and the kids got bounced around quite abit as
they rode to the museum.
Poor Gloria just kept feeling worse with every little bump.
Finally she could hold it no more, and let it go. Vomit flew
from her mouth covering the seats and the aisle of the
school bus. The teacher quickly shoved a bag in front of
her, but it was to late. Robert's bus was mess and could
not be used for the ride home.
While the children where at the museum, poor Robert
was forced to take his bus back to the garage and request
a new one. Before they would let him go though, he had
to fill out the paperwork as to why the bus was a mess.
The form had four questions, What: Where: Who: When:.
Being a man of few words, Robert filled out the form: Sick,
Transit, Gloria, Monday!
