What two animals need fleas to survive?
The hedgehog and the armadillo, which require flea activity to
stimulate their skin, may be the only creatures grateful for fleas.
Deloused armadillos and hedgehogs do not live very long.
How many planets were known to ancient astronomers?
They may not have had the high-tech telescopes we have now,
but ancient astronomers were no slouches. They knew of the
existence of six of the known planets: Earth (of course), Venus,
Mars, Saturn, Mercury, and Jupiter. Uranus was discovered in
1781, Neptune was found in 1846, and Pluto was discovered
in 1930. Give 18th century astronomers partial credit for Neptune,
though. The planet is believed to have been observed as far
back as 1795 by astronomers who thought it was a star.

Effort First Rewards Second!
by Deborah Maxwell
So many people are always looking for that 'quick fix' the
scheme that will make them rich for no other reason than
they want it! Interesting but is it realistic? I personally
spent many hours and many more $$ looking for such a
thing, until I eventually realised that life's not like that.
Life rewards us based on what we 'put in', not what we
wish to 'take out' . You must first become the person who
deserves to earn more, you must first become successful
in your mind, before success hunts you down.
Lack of opportunity is never the issue, lack of belief is! If
we believe that only luck will make us wealthy, then your
personal belief system is failing you. If you believe that
you lack the skills to be successful, then you will never
allow yourself the opportunity to learn those skills. If you
believe that you can earn a full time income with a part
time attitude you may be setting yourself up for
disappointment.
Only you will change your life, its not dependant on
your surrounding, upbringing, education and the like. It
depends only on you. Value yourself and bring value to
the market place and wealth will follow you. Poverty
thinking breeds poverty.
Change your life today and live until you die- take charge
of your own future!

Your Immune System: Delicate Yet Critical
How It Serves You And Why You Need To Keep It Healthy
Why a carrot is good and a chocolate bar is not...
PART 3 of 9
"THE IMMUNE SYSTEM The immune system protects the body from
potentially harmful substances by recognizing and responding to
so-called antigens. Antigens are large molecules (usually
proteins) on the surface of cells, viruses, fungi, or bacteria.
Some non-living substances such as toxins, chemicals, drugs, and
foreign particles (such as a splinter) can be antigens.
Substances that contain these antigens are recognized and
destroyed by the immune system. Even your own body cells have
proteins that are antigens (these include a group of antigens
called HLA antigens). Your immune system learns to see these
antigens as "normal" and does not usually react against them."
IMMUNE RESPONSE
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000821.htm
"The immune response is the way the body recognizes and defends
itself against microorganisms, viruses, and substances
recognized as foreign and potentially harmful to the body."
THE BODY'S FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE
http://www.niaid.nih.gov/final/immun/immun.htm
"The immune system is a complex of organs--highly specialized
cells and even a circulatory system separate from blood
vessels--all of which work together to clear infection from the
body. The organs of the immune system, positioned throughout the
body, are called lymphoid organs. The word "lymph" in Greek
means a pure, clear stream--an appropriate description
considering its appearance and purpose."
RECOGNIZING INVADER
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/19331.htm
"An allergy occurs when the immune system reacts to substances
(allergens) that are generally harmless and in most people do
not cause an immune response. Antibodies are formed by the
immune system in response to the presence of an antigen such as
pollen, mold, dust or dander." These are important definitions
and descriptions.
Recognize that these definitions and links come from
well-respected and trustworthy sites. (I think I have said those
words before, but it IS really important that unless you have
this kind of reliable knowledge, you can be so easily misled.)
All of these sites have research studies attached. This is Step
One in the care and feeding of your Immune System.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
The evening wore on and covered many of the
topics of concern surrounding living by higher
law. As always there was an effect occurring that
went unnoticed by Darryl and Evelyn Sparks. Their
presence, amongst those living by higher law, had
the mesmerizing effect of having them begin to see
higher law as the natural state. Even if they had
been talking of things other than higher law they
would have begun to think higher law the natural
state. That is what happens when people bunch
together. They begin to act like the group acts.
That is why, when one places a parent in an old
folks home it isn't long before they begin to act
like everyone else in the old folks home.
The same is true of all mankind. Once you take
yourself out of one group and place yourself into
another, you begin to act like those members
within the new group. That was happening to Darryl
and Evelyn.
"And then we met Sien at the monastery where
he lives, that is to say if he lives anywhere."
Susan Miles was half way through relating her
story of her adventures in China. She was telling
them of the monastery hidden in the cliffs of rock
along that escarpment in China that seems to
separate the warm climate from the cold climate.
"You certainly have seen a lot." Evelyn was
listening in awe as Susan told her story.
"I like to travel this way Evelyn. It gives us
time to see the real China, not just the high
points. Oh, yes, it is nice to see the great wall,
I suppose, but the real China is it's people
living their daily lives. They are a wonderful
people, kind, giving and very hospitable. I love
them dearly."
"If you did not live by higher law would you
take such a trip?"
"Yes, Evelyn, I would. Although I might be
less capable I still find the people to be
wonderful, helpful and, yes, I would do it
anyway."
"That, then is the real test. Darryl and I
should consider doing such a trip, but walking?
That's a long way to go."
"Yes it is. That's why it takes so long. We
think we'll be between three and four years doing
that trip. We could take it much faster by
vehicle, I suppose, but we would miss so much."
"I think," said Darryl, "that some folks
travel only so they can tell their friends they
have been there. Others travel because they have a
genuine desire to see things. I get that concept
from the articles people send me to print in the
paper. As I read them it becomes clear there are
those who wish to share their experiences and then
there are those who really only want their name in
the paper."
"I'll bet you get a lot of that, Darryl. It's
my bet you find it tough to get articles from
those who really care to share, even without their
name being spread around."
"That's true, Sam. Well over 75 per cent of
the material we get is that way. We have to do a
lot of reading before we find articles of value
for our readers. It seems as if everyone wants
to be, or at least look like, a hero. They are all
after their moment in the sun."
"The world of man is like that Darryl. That is
one thing you must learn when living by higher
law. We want no recognition, no thanks, no notice.
The joy is in the giving for by law it only makes
our own lives better. We really prefer to do the
good deed then disappear before anyone has a
chance to say even thanks."
"I noticed that. I also notice you are shy
about having your name in the paper."
"Sure, because everyone can do what we do. All
they need do is look. When you print our name in
the paper or we appear as a television article it
only serves to sensationalize what we do. It takes
it out of the hands of the common man and we don't
want that. The more the common man sees, the more
he will emulate. The more he emulates the sooner
we will have a lot of people living by higher law.
That's what Billy, here, is all about, and Sharon.
They did not come to higher law because it was
sensational. They came because they could see it
as a way of life they wanted. All men can do the
same. In truth that is what you will do in the
final analysis. You won't come because you want to
be a hero. You will come because it logically
looks like the way your Maker within you wants."
"I think you're right, Sam. I have been
around. I can see the end for men. I like to think
my experiences up to this point have led me here
and that life is so much more enriched living by
higher law that my choice to do that would be
based on my desire to live better. I want to help
the world of man just as you do. The more I am
around you the more normal and natural I see
living by higher law is compared to the greedy way
of man. It is a strange thing that the more
material goods a man has the less of a life he
has. He fights for all the man made riches he can
lay his hands on yet, if he were to relax, give up
all material goods, give up all his desires
therefor, he could have it all, much more than he
will ever have in his present attitude. Why can't
man see that, Sam?"
"All men must see through and cross over the
veil of simplicity, Darryl. The laws of the spirit
are simple, too simple for most men to accept.
They cannot believe the entire universe functions
on laws so simple. They continue to look for the
hard, the complicated, the control."

HA! HA! HA!
A really huge muscular guy with a bad stutter goes to a
counter in a department store and asks, "W-w-w-where's
the m-m-m-men's dep-p-p-partment?"
The clerk behind the counter just looks at him and
says nothing.
The man repeats himself: "W-w-w-where's the m-m-m-men's
dep-p-p-partment?"
Again, the clerk doesn't answer him.
The guy asks several more times: "W-w-w-where's the
m-m-m-men's dep-p-p-partment?"
And the clerk just seems to ignore him.
Finally, the guy storms off in anger.
The customer who was waiting in line behind the guy asks
the clerk, "Why wouldn't you answer that guy's question?"
The clerk answers, "D-d-d-do you th-th-th-think I
w-w-w-want to get b-b-b-beat up?!!"
