TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

How do insects walk up walls?
What are "snapping shrimp"?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Do insects have immune systems?
Insects actually have very effective immune systems for
fighting illness, not too different from ours. Their "fat
body" (similar to our liver) produces numerous antibacterial
proteins. When bacteria enter the insect's body, blood cells
immediately surround the germs and digest them. Insects'
immune systems are so similar to ours that scientists have
studied the fruit fly to learn information about the human
immune system. Insects DO suffer from illnesses, though.
Like us, they are susceptible to bacteria, viruses, and
fungi. In fact, humans have used disease-causing organisms
as pesticides.
Could insects be cured with antibiotics?
No drug company seems to be focusing on the insect
population (they're poor consumers and rarely carry
insurance), but technically, yes, insects could be treated
with antibiotics just as we are. They could also, in
principle, be treated with gene therapy if the disease is
genetic.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!
with Dr. Rhoberta Shaler
---------------------
Are You "Spiritually Minded"?
Are you spiritually minded? Im not simply speaking of
interest in spiritual things. Its much more than that. Are
you basing your thinking every moment on the spiritual
principles you hold dear? Thats the real question!
How do we determine if, in fact, we are spiritually-minded?
First, lets look at the concept of a mind. Where is it?
Can you point to it? Can it be surgically isolated? Even
though you cannot indicate its whereabouts physically, you
do understand that you have one, or more precisely, that you
use one. Its more than your brain, isnt it?
The truth is that you actually have two if we consider two
very important aspects or states of mind separately, the
objective or conscious mind, and the subjective or
subconscious mind. The conscious mind thinks it knows and
the subconscious mind knows. So, its tricky.
Good news! It is impossible to have a mind by-pass
although many people behave as though it is not. Everything
you think creates. Its that simple. If that doesnt clean
up our mental acts, I dont know what would!
OK, so, if every thought is creative, why does every thought
not manifest? Its a question of where you let your mind
rest most frequently. Consider what would happen if every
thought you have all day manifested:
I wish I had a sailboat I think Ill sell everything and
hitchhike around the world. No one likes me. Everybody wants
something from me. This job is too boring. I wish it were
more exciting. No one will every marry me. I think that
person finds me attractive. Im never eating chocolate
again. I wish I had a pound of Turtles right now.
Sound like a familiar inner dialogue for you? If every
thought manifest, chaos would reign. Sometimes, it seems
chaos does. That is because the conscious mind is unfocused.
The direction the conscious mind gives to the subconscious
is fractured, contradictory and inconsistent. When OUR
thoughts are chaotic, our life is chaotic
because all
thoughts are creative.
Truly spiritually-minded people understand the title of my
book, What You Pay Attention to Expands. When you understand
how your mind and MindUniversal Mind, Infinite Supply,
Divine Source, God---works, you know that within you is a
creative field called the subjective mind that is a mental
law. Thats where we get the idea that positive thinking is
a good idea.
Only hold in mind what it is that you want to be, do and
have. Its important to note: Particularly eliminate any
thoughts about things you do not want. The subconscious
mind works in pictures and it does not have a picture for
abstract words like not. Create word, as well as mental,
pictures of what you want. Scriptures for most major
spiritual traditions say the same thing about our thoughts:
BIBLE: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
and of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think on these things.
BUDDHIST Dhammapada: We are what we think. All that we are
arises with our thought. With our thoughts we make the
world.
HINDU UPANISHADS: Ones own thought is ones world. What a
person thinks is what he becomesThat is the eternal
mystery.
CHINESE ZEN MASTER HUANG-PO: When thoughts arise, then do
all things arise. When thoughts vanish, then do all things
vanish
.
Being truly spiritually-minded means holding in mind the
beliefs, values and principles that we chooseall the time.
The mind dwells on spiritual matters. Thats possible at all
times. No need to go into a cave or cloister. Take the time
each day to direct your mind to what is most important to
you. Lift your thoughts to how you most want to be and be it
everywhere every minute. Focus on what you want and
eliminate all thought of what you wish to avoid.
It takes time, focus and attention. Become
spiritually-minded and see what a difference it makes!

Cancer
You Can Beat it or It Can Beat You
PART 3 of 3
Please recognize that I have only WRITTEN some words here
and they CREATE the feelings. You haven't DONE anything at
all yet! I'm going to come to my point with another example
and it's one I'm sure you have already done.
I am asking you to go to the fridge, get out a lemon, take
it to the counter, cut it into five even pieces, and arrange
these on a small saucer.
Is your mouth watering a bit? Is your mouth producing extra
saliva?
I want to demonstrate the POWER of words
depression makes
you think darkness, gloom, but if I suggest hope, you would
perk up and think
what can I do
what if
Your body
interprets this as a relaxed, hopeful "posture, or a
defeated, hopeless attitude. It then "translates" that into
inner activities. You didn't have to speak a word: you just
read my words.
So I suggest that if you do a get a diagnosis of cancer, or
gallstones, or diabetes, you add one additional step to your
treatment regime. And that step is to MAKE a decision as to
what will be your mental attitude.
And once you make that decision, announce to everyone that
you are now part of your "treatment team"
along with doctor,
and medical support. And PLAN for the positive outcome.
Yes, there will be some unpleasant times as you go through
this experience. However, your choice determines the
outcome. Negative thoughts drag your down and backward
...positive thoughts will propel you forward.
So your personal plan should be to choose positive,
supportive thoughts, avoid negative people, and fill your
tummy with optimum nutrition
and that should really include
nutritional supplementation.
This is not holistic, alternative medicine. This is common
sense. It makes excellent use of your (under-utilised) mind,
and a tremendous way to give hope to many others who haven't
your courage.
Yes cancer can be beaten. We have many cases that
demonstrate that even the worst prognosis can be overcome.
And this is how you start. Doctors would love you to have a
positive hopeful attitude
they hate it when their patients
give up and don't fight to get better.
They LOOK good and you will BE better!

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

Another of the villagers spoke. "You teach our children
and they not like us anymore."
"Certainly not. You permit your fear to lead you. Your
children will, in fact, love you the more, and they will be
far more capable of looking after themselves when they are
adults, plus they will be far better equipped to look after
you in your senior years. All these things you must
consider.
One more thing you should think about. I did not have to
ask permission to teach your children. I could have created
conditions where that would be done. I asked because it is
only fair, honest and right that you make any decision based
on your own clear thinking. Because I have asked is an
indicator of my honesty and my concern for your full
knowledge and cooperation. It should ease your minds some."
An elder rose, turned around to face the villagers and
spoke. "I have visited Mr. Billy at his new home near Miss
Sonora's place. He gave me some drink and we talked for a
long while. My eyes and my ears tell me this man is an
honest man and he has a concern for our children. I believe
he will teach them right. There are other elders here who
also have visited and talked with Mr. Billy. They, too,
think this man speaks truth. I will not tell you which way
to vote. But I will tell you that you have nothing to fear
from this man or those sitting on the floor in front of
you."
The room went quiet. The villagers had a great deal of
respect for this elder. After a bit there was murmuring
amongst them.
A villager stood. "How you do this?"
Billy knew then what the group answer would be. "I will
ask the children, and anyone else who wishes, to come sit on
the hill behind my hut. There we will talk. We will discuss
all things and the children will be allowed to make their
own decisions on what to do. They will be shown the laws.
They will be shown how greed and selfishness can lead them
away from their Maker. They will be shown how love, helping
one another, looking out for one another are things that
will aid them in their learning. As they become more
familiar with the teachings we will progress farther. It may
take years before the children are ready to make a decision
to live as Miss Sonora and I live. We will not keep the
children all day every day. They have work to do in with the
cattle and around the house. They will be taught to respect
their parents and to listen to them. At school we may teach
some things that are different than what you teach at home.
The children will come home saying I said something that
appears to be opposite to what you have told them. That
means they are thinking and may want to get into talks with
you on those subjects. I can promise you I will not tell
them anything that I have not learned myself. I live the
life and know the way. That is what I will teach your
children."
"Can we come to see what you teach?"
"Anyone can come anytime. You are all welcome. Please do
come. That would be wonderful. Please know the only reason I
asked about the children is because they have not yet formed
long and lasting opinions about the world. They know nothing
of black magic except what you have taught. Those young and
virgin minds can absorb more quickly the information we
shall teach them. All men and women can learn. Yet those who
have preconceived ideas must overcome some of those ideas.
With children we don't face that condition."
"Why you want to do this?"
"Because all are on a path back to meet their Maker. We
all come from God and shall return to God. Those of us who
do so willingly and consciously can make that decision
before we die. It is better that way. If I am to live among
you I wish then to serve you. You have placed upon me a
welcome and a trust. I will work to earn that trust
everyday. That is why I want to do this."
"What do you want for it?"
"You mean how many cattle?"
"Yes."
"I want no cattle, earthly possessions or anything. My
reward comes when I do good."
"Miss Sonora, is that true?"
"Yes."
"Will you be there to help this man?"
"Yes"
"Do you live this way?"
"Yes."
"Is this the right way?"
"Yes."
"You may teach the children."
With that the man sat down to a chorus of "Yes."
An elder rose and faced Billy. "You have been given
permission to teach the children and anyone else who wants
to come. That may include me. Go and you shall begin at
first light two suns from this day."
Billy, Sonora, Hemno, Kenyata and Mombudo all rose and
bowed to the elders and villagers, turned, then left the
lodge.
The rest of the villagers began to trickle out and the
lodge was vacated within the hour.
Billy and the group slowly walked home, discussing the
events of the day.
"They let their fears govern their lives. They know
little of worldly things, only this life. Most of the
villagers will never be further away from their huts than a
half mile, during their entire lifetime. Most live in huts
that were built well over a hundred years ago by their
ancestors. They have been repaired, of course, yet they are
that old." Mombudo was enlightening Billy.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Jerkwater Town: What is the reason a small town is called a
"jerkwater town"?
On a long trip a railroad train will have to stop now and
again to get water for the engine from an overhead water
tower. These towers are equipped with long nozzles that are
pulled down over the tender. When a train gets water in this
manner, it is said to "jerk water". If a town is so small
and unimportant that the only reason the train stops there
is to get water, it's called a "jerkwater town".
