TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

Why did people FormStone their houses in the first place?

What are painted screens?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

In men's underwear, what do the initials "BVD" stand for?

"BVD" stands for Bradley, Voorhees, and Day, the founders of
the company that produced them. BVD does NOT stand for
"Boy's Ventilated Drawers," as is commonly believed.

What is FormStone?

According to film director John Waters, FormStone is "the
polyester of brick." Visit Baltimore and you'll know what he
means. In the 1930's and 40's, FormStone became very popular
in the city and whole city blocks were covered with this
strange, gray artificial "stone." FormStone, made out of
cement that is hand-sculpted over chicken wire to resemble
stone, is so ubiquitous in Baltimore that it has come to
define the city - that, and marble steps and painted window
screens. Many of the original brick row houses that were
covered with FormStone are becoming brick again as new
owners tear down the cement "stone."

Shocker? Nope. Oprah Winfrey Most Popular Personality--Again

For the fourth consecutive year, Oprah Winfrey topped the
Harris Interactive poll of most popular television
personalities, The Wall Street Journal reports this morning.
Winfrey has been in the top three ever since the poll was
initiated in 1993, a remarkable run that helps explain the
unflagging ratings of her syndicated show. The poll revealed
no major surprises, although Jon Stewart, who appears only
on late-night cable TV, emerged as the No. 2 most popular
personality, passing CBS' David Letterman, who placed second
last year. Jay Leno took the fourth-place slot. And Conan
O'Brien, who is set to replace Leno as “Tonight” host later
in the decade, came in seventh. Interestingly, Jerry
Seinfeld, who has not had a fresh TV program since the ‘90s,
ranked eighth, and Tim Allen, also a no-show when it comes
to current TVdom, ranked 10th. In other words, not being on
TV--except in endless reruns--appears to be little
impediment to popularity with the American viewing public.
In specific groups, Letterman was tops among American men,
Winfrey with women. Bill O'Reilly claimed the top prize in
two categories in the Harris poll: Conservatives and
Americans 30 to 39-years-old. We'll be hearing lots about
that on “The Factor,” no doubt.

Gates: Internet Censorship Won't Work

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates on Wednesday said any
government's attempt to censor Web sites or blogs would
ultimately fail. The spread of private e-mail, for example,
means online users could distribute banned news items
despite government efforts. "If there's a desire by the
population to know something, it's going to get out," Gates
said in a news conference in Lisbon. Microsoft recently
pulled the blog of a critic of the Chinese government in
December after getting an order from Beijing to do so. Gates
said that where his company is concerned, it must meet the
legal requirements of the country where it's doing business.
Microsoft's Chief Counsel Brad Smith said on Tuesday that
the company is creating rules to deal with government
complaints about Web sites hosted by Microsoft.

Health Question About
Fibromyalgia & Arthritis
PART 3 of 5

HEALTH QUESTION: Hi there, I have a question. I had an x-ray
confirming I have "degenerative lippings" in my neck. Is this
Osteoarthritis? I am 32, what can I expect to happen in the
future as I age?
(1) Will this cripple me?
(2) I also have fibromyalgia.... which is painful, but at least it isn't
degenerative!
(3) Any help you can offer in answering my questions is greatly
appreciated... as I have searched a bunch of different websites,
but none actually specify what "degenerative" lippings are.
(4) Since I have had the Fibromyalgia in my upper back, I have the
degenerative lippings, I have had constant "bloatedness"
(5) I now have a sluggish bowel, occasional swelling of my
leg calves, eyes sore & swollen, jaw aches, inflamation in
my shoulders, neck & upper back. I never sleep well, wake
sore and unrefreshed. I feel like I am 90
(6)! Thanks so much for you're time.

Now let's look at Fibromyalgia. Is this normal aging or another
degenerative condition? Medline defines Fibromyalgia is a
"common condition characterized by widespread pain in joints,
muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. Some other problems
commonly linked with fibromyalgia include fatigue, morning
stiffness, sleep problems, headaches, numbness in hands and
feet, depression, and anxiety. Fibromyalgia can develop on its
own, or secondary to other musculo-skeletal conditions, such as
rheumatoid arthritis, or systemic lupus. Does this sound like
our reader's situation? " (So if our "hockey player has
arthritis, he would have very achy joints, but would have some
energy to play. If (s)he had Fibromyalgia, they would have
tremendous difficulty just getting out of bed or even being
motivated to play anything!)

Here we have a condition mainly to do with soft tissues, but
also involving the joints. And arthritis has been mentioned in
relation to Fibromyalgia. That would be mainly the bone tissue
connection.
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000427.htm#Definition
I quote the reader "I also have fibromyalgia.... which is
painful, but at least it isn't degenerative!" (3) Does this
sound like an abnormal condition like degeneration or a normal
"aging" process? Does everyone get this as they get older? No.
So it is a degenerative condition.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Billy rose and stood tall.

"From this day, whenever you are thirsty you will be
able to make your own cup of water. Whenever you take your
hands away from the cup the cup and the water will
disappear. If you are giving a drink to someone else you
must keep touching the cup for it you remove your hands the
cup will disappear. This is not something to play with. You
shall not tempt your Maker. You are to use this only to
drink yourself or to help someone who needs water. You will
not do it for show or for play."

Billy looked at each of his charges, including the two
adults. Each one he looked directly in the eye until he had
their attention. Each knew they could do this when they
wanted. They also grasped the gravity of using it only for
the purposes of drink or to help others.

Billy waved his arms across the group once more. "From
this day you shall never again be hurt or harmed, neither
will anyone in your family or in this village, by black
magic. No black magic will have power over you. You are free
from harm by those who claim to practice that art."

There was a murmur and whispers throughout the group.

One of the adults spoke. "What you mean Mr. Billy?"

"I mean that no black magic will affect you or hurt you
or harm you ever in your life anywhere at anytime. Never."

"You can protect us from this?"

"It is done."

It was clear Billy had grasped their interest and
imagination. They liked coming to class. One or two kids
were now experimenting with manifesting cups filled with
water. It was fun. They had no idea they were able to do
this.

"Tomorrow morning we will talk of all the reasons why
you are not to use this for show or for play. I will show
you the laws at work and we will talk of the things your
Maker will let you do when you believe. Go now and each one
of you, I want you to help your Mom or your Dad with the
chores at home. Your Dad might need help with the cattle or
your Mom might want some fresh water from the well or some
wood, or help cooking. Make a practice of doing something
good in your family, every day. See you tomorrow."

They all got up and came to Billy. They were full of
questions. The young were keen on this new thing. They had
not known before of what this was going to be.

Billy knew he had their attention. The kids began to
leave for their homes after Billy had answered a few of
their questions. The two adults stayed behind.

"Mr. Billy. You scared us when you talk of black magic.
Then you tell us black magic no longer touch us. Are you
true?"

"Yes. I am true. Black magic can no longer harm you or
be used against you or anyone in this village."

"Mr. Billy, when the village hears of this they may not
believe."

"I know. They will want to but it will be hard for them.
Yet it is true. No black magic will ever harm anyone from
this village again, no matter where they are or who they are
with. Never again."

"Mr. Billy, do we have your permission to tell the
villagers this?"

"Yes. And each can come to see me if they wish to speak
on that."

"Thank you, Mr. Billy." The two adults were almost ready
to bow to the ground. The idea they were forever safe from
black magic scored deeply into their hearts.

"No, no. Don't bow to me. Later you will learn how and
why this is possible. You, too, will be able to help others
get free of this terrible belief. Go and tell the village
their Maker has set them free."

The two adults nearly bolted away from Billy. They
couldn't wait to tell the others.

Before long the whole village was talking about it. Many
came to see Billy. They came in groups and they came alone.
Billy had to place his hand on the top of each head and
utter his short "freedom" speech, so that each person would
believe.

The effect this had on the village was nothing short of
amazing. The fear of black magic had been so deeply
ingrained into their psyche it was as if Billy had lifted
the weight of the world from them.

That night all the fires around the village were a
little higher, a little brighter, a little happier.
Conversations were more buoyant. There was more togetherness
in the village.

The elders came to see Billy.

"This thing you do, is that right?"

Billy knew he had to satisfy the elders. It was wise to
do so. He bid they sit in front of him as the kids had
earlier that day. He gave them all a beverage. All the
village elders were here.

"It became apparent to me when we held our meetings in
the lodge house, that black magic was a belief system this
village held. It is clear the villagers were afraid of black
magic, so they are vulnerable to anyone who comes in here
trying to cause them to give up their young women and their
young men. As I have given you this beverage, I have placed
a shield around every man, woman and child in this village.
They shall never again be harmed, hurt or affected by black
magic. Never."

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Gat: How did we come to call a revolver a "gat"?

The name "gat" was originally applied to a machine gun
invented by Dr. Robert Gatling and first used during the
Civil War. But this gun had a cluster of ten barrels that
looked something like the chamber of a revolver - and so the
name was transferred to the revolver.

Miss the experience of skiing? Try the following to get
that feeling back.

10. Visit your local butcher and pay $10 to sit in his
walk-in freezer for half an hour. Afterwards, burn two $50
dollar bills to warm up.

9. Go to the nearest hockey rink and walk across the ice 20
times in your ski boots carrying two pairs of skis,
accessory bag and poles. Pretend you are looking for your
car.

8. For ski boot simulation at home, put a pebble in your
street shoes and tighten a C-clamp around your toes.

7. Buy a pair of gloves and immediately throw one away.

6. Go to McDonald's and insist on paying $6.50 for a
hamburger. Be sure to wait in the longest line.

5. Clip a lift ticket to the zipper of your jacket and ride
a motorcycle fast enough to make the ticket lacerate your
face.

4. Drive slowly for five hours - anywhere - as long as it's
in bad weather and you're following an 18 wheeler.

3. Fill a blender with ice, hit the pulse button and let the
spray blast your face. You'd almost believe you're skiing in
front of a snowmaker!

2. Dress up in as many clothes as you can and then proceed
to take them off because you have to go to the bathroom.

1. Repeat all of the above every Saturday.
