TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

For baseball fans: What is the "Baltimore chop"?

What was the "Lucretia Mott Amendment"?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Why did people FormStone their houses in the first place?

FormStone was popular for several reasons. First, it saved
the working-class people of Baltimore time and money because
they no longer had to paint, "re-point," or otherwise
maintain the brick. Secondly, many people thought the
artificial stone made their houses look like stone castles.
Even churches and public buildings were FormStoned.

What are painted screens?

Painted screens are another common sight in Baltimore.
They're exactly what they sound like: window screens painted
with pictures, often idyllic nature scenes like alpine
villages and boats. Painted window screens were cheaper than
curtains for past eras' Polish and Greek immigrants.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------

Be Careful What You Wish For!

There once was this guy that got a dirty old lamp
for his birthday. He cleaned it up and POOF!--out
popped a genie!

"I shall give you three wishes. You may have
anything you like."

So the guys thinks for a minute and says, "I would
like a billion dollars."

"You shall have it," and the genie grants him the
wish. "Anything else?"

The guy thinks for a while. Then, "I would like a
VW Bug with A/C, power locks, power windows,
10-disk changer, you know the works."

"Your wish is my command. What is your last wish?"

"Hmmm. I think I'll save it for a rainy day."

"OK, suit yourself," says the genie.

So the guy gets in his new VW and goes for a
drive to show all his friends. He turns on the radio.
There's a very familiar commercial on. The guy starts
singing to it: "I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Wiener."

Wow! What a shock that would be. Funny isn't it.

Yet the warning is there. Be careful what you wish for
because you will most certainly get it.

Too few of us recognize the power of the spoken word
or the power of our minds. The things we think about
all day long will come to pass.

Many of those things turn out to be things we do not
want. That is why it is so important to control anger.
Those things we emotionally align ourselves with and
speak about are the things we get back.

It is fine if those things are positive, but what about the
times you slip and speak out in anger? Do you want
those things to come back?

In a very direct way these are the kinds of things you
wish for. You don't have to have "I wish" in front of
the subject.

That is also why those wishing for a million dollars
end up in trouble when they get it. Few people
recognize what happens when that kind of a windfall
arrives. It is deadly, to say the least. One is far better
to build up to it rather than have it dumped into
your life.

Do you realize that not one person thinks they will
have trouble if they won a million dollars, yet the
records are staggeringly dismal. It usually ends up
in broken marriages, delinquent kids, drug related
incidents and altogether ruined lives. The vast
majority end up like this.

Be careful what you wish for.

Those who wish for each day to be successful and
happy are the ones who win. Think on this for a minute.
If you wish for each day to be successful, and if you are
working on your plan to become wealthy, are you not
better off? Even if only seventy five percent of your days
were successful you would still arrive at your destination.

That way you build up your experience of handling
money. You learn the things you must do as you
proceed to your objective. When you arrive you not
only had fun getting there but you can have fun enjoying
it without fear of ruining yours or anyone else's life.

You also have the self esteem that goes with doing
it yourself, a vital ingredient for continued success,
happiness, poise, power, peace and joy.

Health Question About
Fibromyalgia & Arthritis
PART 4 of 5

HEALTH QUESTION: Hi there, I have a question. I had an x-ray
confirming I have "degenerative lippings" in my neck. Is this
Osteoarthritis? I am 32, what can I expect to happen in the
future as I age?
(1) Will this cripple me?
(2) I also have fibromyalgia.... which is painful, but at least it isn't
degenerative!
(3) Any help you can offer in answering my questions is greatly
appreciated... as I have searched a bunch of different websites,
but none actually specify what "degenerative" lippings are.
(4) Since I have had the Fibromyalgia in my upper back, I have the
degenerative lippings, I have had constant "bloatedness"
(5) I now have a sluggish bowel, occasional swelling of my
leg calves, eyes sore & swollen, jaw aches, inflamation in
my shoulders, neck & upper back. I never sleep well, wake
sore and unrefreshed. I feel like I am 90
(6)! Thanks so much for you're time.

Our reader also doesn't mention anything about medications.
Physicians typically place these types of patients on a
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for pain, medication for
sleep, perhaps a muscle relaxant and anti-depressant. What is
even more disconcerting is the frequency with which these
patients are being treated with narcotic pain medication. Now,
they not only have a horrible disease but are also vulnerable to
becoming addicted to their narcotic pain medication. Our reader
didn't say if they were prescribed any of this kind of
medication. You, as the present reader, MUST consider the side
effects, interactions, and long-term effects of all drugs.

(5)Abdominal bloating is a condition in which the abdomen feels
full and tight -- usually caused by excessive intestinal gas.
This could be a result of the intestinal involvement or the
medications.

Drugs/medications are chemicals and are not normally produced by
your body. They will have an effect...the desired one as well as
an undesired one.

So the degeneration aspect is pretty clear. Our environment,
lifestyle, and diet factors seem to be continually eroding our
health. One of the most significant findings through research has been
the value of antioxidants in "neutralizing the negative effect
of free radicals" in the human body. Free radicals are believed
to be the cause of many degenerative diseases through oxidative
stress activity. And this seems to be evolving from a variety of
factors including pollution, high-fat diets, exercise, and
smoking.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

"Mr. Billy you do not know what that does for this
village. Men and women are free. They thank you very much."

"That freedom is good, yet it might have some bad in it
if the people are not wise. You must tell them that now they
must think clearly. Where the men did not leave their wives
for another before it was because of the fear of black
magic. Now, if black magic is no longer a deterrent it must
be their own sense of responsibility, their own sense of
clear thinking. The people cannot use this freedom to behave
in ways that are not responsible toward one another. You
must go forth and teach them that. You must speak to all,
that this new freedom is not license to live immorally or
reason to hurt others. It is only reason to love others and
give to them, helping those who are hurting and teaching
their young kindness, truth and honor."

"You wise man, Mr. Billy. We can see where this new
freedom might do harm. We will speak to the village. Can
they come here to your class?"

"Yes, certainly. I, too, will speak to them of these
matters."

Then Billy had a visitor who was not so inquisitive.
Indeed, he was angry. It was the village medicine man.

"You have taken away my powers. Who are you to tell the
people not to listen to me?"

"Your anger betrays you my friend. I did not remove your
power. I may have made it impossible for you to instill fear
into the villagers, but I did not tell them not to listen to
you. I merely removed their fear of black magic. If you do
good things, if you learn how to look after them without
causing them to fear, then you have an opportunity to do
good. Is that not much better? Or is it that you want to
control the people? Check your motives before you reply."

"I . . . I . . . I want to do good." The medicine man
lowered his head. He was behaving like he had been caught
with his hand in the cookie jar. He knew he used fear to
control the village and that now he no longer had that tool.

Billy knew this man would, now, always talk against him.
Billy knew of no way he could get the man on his side.

In the eyes of the medicine man Billy had taken away all
his power and had caught him in the act of using fear as his
main weapon. There was a slow burning hatred that was
beginning to smolder in the medicine man. Billy had taken
away all his authority, his control. He claimed Billy took
away his honor.

Like all politicians everywhere he preferred to say that
Billy took away his honor rather than say the truth, that
Billy only took away his power to instill fear. He would do
his best to cloud the issue and make Billy look like a
charlatan. He preferred to spread smoke and smears rather
than look upon what Billy had done as an opportunity.

Yet Billy knew that in spite of the medicine man's
chants, reading bones and smelling urine, he was going to be
all right. Billy knew the medicine man would go deep into
his bag of tricks and do all he could to cause Billy harm.
That would include everything the man had learned in the
black arts, voodoo and the like.

Billy arrived at a decision that he would walk past the
medicine man's hut everyday, looking as healthy as he ever
had. He knew that would be irksome to the medicine man, yet
in the final analysis the medicine man would learn he held
no power over Billy and really, over the course of time,
Billy has power over him.

Classes started the next day pretty much as they had the
day earlier, but this time there were many more adults. That
Billy could control the Gods and had power over black magic
meant he was a much more powerful man than they had assumed.
If he was willing to teach this power, maybe they better get
to class and learn what it is.

"Welcome. I am glad all of you could join us." Now
speaking to the class he said, "Yesterday I sent you home
with the ability to make for yourselves a cup of water
anytime you wanted. Yet I forewarned you that you were not
to do this for play or to put on a show. How many of you
practiced last night?"

In all the people who were at class yesterday, all
raised their hands.

"Do you know why I told you not to go out and put on a
show?"

None of the class acknowledged.

"I told you that because you will do yourself harm. That
you can make water in a cup is the natural way of doing
things. It is your God's, your Maker's way of doing things.
Yet your Maker is not to be taunted any more than your
parents. If this is the natural way and you begin to show it
off as if you were a showman in a circus are you not making
fun, insulting, your audience? If they cannot do it and you
can does that make you a better man? I think not. You are
not to tempt your Maker. You do what is natural, you do what
you are supposed to do, what all men are supposed to do and
yet you want to flaunt it?

That you are fortunate you were able to learn does
not make you better than the next man. It only says you have
been most fortunate. It is better if you spread that
knowledge around rather than show off like a paper tiger.
Show off and you will be thought the fool. Be calm, peaceful
and you will learn the way to full power."

The children saw the wisdom of what Billy was trying to
explain.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Gargoyle: does the word "gargoyle" refer to the appearance
of these images?

No. "Gargoyle" is an Old French word and literally means
"throat". Gargoyles were originally used as projections from
the gutter of a building to carry the rainwater clear of the
walls, and they spurted this drain water through their
'throats".

"A person will not buy from you until he is convinced

interest. You must make this clear." -– Brian Tracy

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

An elderly couple toddled into the local McDonalds and
ordered one combo meal.

The wife carefully cut the sandwich in two and began to eat
her half.

The husband respectfully sat and watched. The eating did not
progress quickly, and soon the other customers began to
notice.

Finally one helpful person offered to buy the couple another
meal. The offer was rejected with the explanation, "We share
everything."

Eventually another could stand it no longer and made the
same offer. Same rejection: "No thank you, we share
everything."

After this had gone on for what seemed to be quite a while,
one bystander could no longer stand it and quizzed the man,
"Then why aren't you eating? What are you
waiting for?"

The reply: "The teeth."
