TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What exactly does the Equal Rights Amendment say?

Has the Equal Rights Amendment ever been passed?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

For baseball fans: What is the "Baltimore chop"?

The "Baltimore chop" refers to a batted ball that bounces so
high that it cannot be fielded successfully before the
batter makes it to first base. Supposedly, the Baltimore
chop was named after John McGraw and Willie Keeler, two
Baltimore players circa 1890.

What was the "Lucretia Mott Amendment"?

The "Lucretia Mott Amendment" was the name given to the
Equal Rights Amendment when it was first introduced to the
US Congress in 1923. Lucretia Mott was a renowned Quaker
pacifist, abolitionist, and supporter of women's rights.
Advocates of the ERA may have hoped that associating the
constitutional amendment with her good name would help it to
be passed.

Gratitude is The Attitude of Altitude

Gratitude IS the attitude of altitude. Every day needs to be
Thanksgiving Day.

Being thankful is a good way to begin each day. Even before
you open your eyes in the morning, spend a minute or two in
gratitude, reflecting on all things large and small for
which you are thankful. This provides a positive framework
for the day and assists in keeping the day’s events in
perspective. Sometimes, it is easy to become mired in the
small details of daily living and forget the bigger picture.
We all need some altitude adjustment!

The result of one Reader’s Digest report indicated that the
two words people most like to hear are ‘Thank you.’ How
liberally do you use these words in your vocabulary? Are you
in the habit of “catching people doing things right?” A word
of thanks and appreciation never goes amiss. Many people
seem to have difficulty accepting our gratitude, however,
this is not reason for not offering it.

Catching children doing things right is the most effective
way to shape their behavior patterns. Emphasizing the
behavior we feel is useful and appropriate is far more
efficient than condemning the behavior we feel is not.
Children, and adults, too, respond more quickly and more
favorably to positive, loving care. Letting them know how
much we appreciate the ways in which they show care and
consideration for us and for others is important. Children,
too, will often fail to do what we say, but, they seldom
fail to do what we do. Modeling appreciative behavior is a
great start!

Consider how our news media would be altered if the majority
of the news was taken up with what went right in the world
today. What if the letters to the editor were filled with
positive, constructive, supportive comments? A commitment to
acknowledge what we like in the community by calling or
writing the people involved would make a remarkable
difference. Gratitude becomes a way of life with
far-reaching, uplifting effects!

In ‘The Power of Praise”, Richard Carrothers reminds us that
praise, expressing our gratitude for all things, is basic to
the practice of our spiritual beliefs. Not in a bargaining
frame of mind, but rather as an honest expression of our
limited understanding. Try it. In all things, in all
situations, in all circumstances, practice thanksgiving and
praise. This shift in perspective and perception will change
your life.

Let’s cultivate this attitude and practice gratitude. It
makes our lives much happier and our world a more positive,
forgiving environment for growing positive, loving people.

Health Question About
Fibromyalgia & Arthritis
PART 5 of 5

HEALTH QUESTION: Hi there, I have a question. I had an x-ray
confirming I have "degenerative lippings" in my neck. Is this
Osteoarthritis? I am 32, what can I expect to happen in the
future as I age?
(1) Will this cripple me?
(2) I also have fibromyalgia.... which is painful, but at least it isn't
degenerative!
(3) Any help you can offer in answering my questions is greatly
appreciated... as I have searched a bunch of different websites,
but none actually specify what "degenerative" lippings are.
(4) Since I have had the Fibromyalgia in my upper back, I have the
degenerative lippings, I have had constant "bloatedness"
(5) I now have a sluggish bowel, occasional swelling of my
leg calves, eyes sore & swollen, jaw aches, inflamation in
my shoulders, neck & upper back. I never sleep well, wake
sore and unrefreshed. I feel like I am 90
(6)! Thanks so much for you're time.

(4) "Degenerative" lippings is a term I could not find, but if
you think about the wearing out of the soft and bony tissue, it
should be easy to see how these would develop. I can easily
picture "sandblasting" your joints and bones wherever they are
exposed to the disease process (free radicals). Our reader
mentioned many of the classic signs of Fibromyalgia. If you
think this could be of more interest to you as well, I urge you
to study what can be done to halt this condition and how you can
take back control. There are many links included here. Please
use this information only as a stepping stone to more research
and a visit to your health care provider.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

That is to say all but one saw what Billy meant. "Why
can't we play with this power Mr. Billy? I see what you are
saying but I'm not sure of it all."

"Let's look at it another way. When we broke yesterday I
asked each of you to go home and do something for your
parents. It might be looking after the cattle to give your
Dad a break or it might be going to the well for water for
your Mom. How many of you did that?"

About half the hands went up, just as Billy expected.

"For those of you who did not do something like that,
why didn't you?"

The answers came back, everything from there were no
chores, to my folks were busy or someone came over to play
and I forgot.

"That's why you don't play with this power. How many of
you really, truly want to have the very best life can give
you?"

All their hands went up.

"Yet, from what I see, only about half of you are
willing to pay the price."

"What do you mean, Mr. Billy? What does going home and
doing a chore for Mom or Dad have to do with this?"

"Are there things at home your Mom and Dad don't let you
do?"

"Yeah. I'm not allowed to go to the bathroom in the
hut."

All the kids laughed. There was a smart aleck in the
crowd and they thought it funny.

"Good, there's one rule. Any others?"

"My Mom and Dad always want me in bed early. Sometimes I
don't want to go, but they make me."

"Good, more rules. Anyone else?"

"My Mom makes me go for water every morning and again
every night."

"Wonderful. Do you see what is happening?"

"What do you mean, Mr. Billy?"

"In order for us to get along we have to follow the
rules. You follow rules at home and that makes things fine
at home. I imagine life isn't very pretty when you don't
follow the rules, right?"

In unison, "Right."

"Well it is the same in your Maker's world. If you want
the best from your Maker you must follow the rules. There
are quite a number I will teach you as we go along but there
are two very important we will learn today. The first is
that you are to love your Maker, inside you, more than
anything else in the world. You are to permit nothing to get
in between you and your Maker, nothing.

The second rule is the rule you should have followed
last night. 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap.' That means that
whatever you do will come back to you. If you are lazy, you
will reap the fruits of that laziness. If you love someone
and you give to them, help them, make life easier for them,
that, too, will come back to you. When you went home last
night and you did not do the task I asked you to do you were
showing yourself that you did not want to live your Maker's
life, that you don't really want to earn the ability to do
the things I showed you can be done. Only if you work and
follow your Maker's rules will you reap the rewards of your
Maker's promises.

If you play with the power you are frivolous, playing
with a great thing as if it were not important to you except
to make you look like a hero. What, now that you know the
rules, do you think will come back to you if you live your
life that way?"

"Y . . . you mean we will get bad things if we don't
follow the rules?"

"Mostly, yes, that is what I mean. To receive good
things all the time you must be doing good things all the
time. That is the rule. If you go off and play like one who
thinks everyone else will get his supper or clothe him or
keep him in times of danger, then one day you will pay a
very heavy price for that. And it will be because you made
the choice to be foolish. Is that what you want?"

Again, in unison, "NO."

"Right. So the rule is from now on every day when you
leave here you go directly home and do a chore for your
parents that they have not asked you to do. That will begin
to train you mind in the act of doing good and what are the
rewards for doing good?"

"Good things will happen to us."

"That's right. Now, do any of you have any more
questions on why you don't play with this power?"

He waited and there was no one stepping up to the
question.

"The reason you don't play with your Maker's power is
exactly the same reason your parents don't want you playing
with food, or with something valuable that belongs to the
family or a friend. You just plain don't take advantage of
your gift that way. It is not acceptable behavior."

Billy stood. He took his time in looking out over his
charges. They were all looking at him and he made sure he
made eye contact with each one, including the adults. Then
he brought his arms up and waved them over the entire
group. "Know this, your Maker loves you and accepts you and
your sins are forgiven."

To some of the kids that didn't mean much, but one of
the adult women immediately broke into a cry. She had not
expected forgiveness. She had been carrying guilt for some
action she had taken and now found herself forgiven. That
she was free was such a surprise and shock she broke down.

Garrison Finish: Where does the expression "garrison finish"
come from?

From horse racing. a jockey named Garrison made it his

HA! HA! HA!

Murphy approached Mulligan's bar.

On the step outside he was accosted by a preacher who said,
"Surely a fine man like yourself is not going into this den
of iniquity? Surely you're not going to waste your hard
earned cash on the devil's brew. Why don't you go home and
feed and clothe your wife and children?"

"Hang on, Padre" spluttered Murphy. "How can you condemn
alcohol out of hand? Surely it's wrong to form such a rash
judgment when you've never tasted the stuff?"

"Very well," said the man of the cloth. "I'll taste it just
to prove my point. Obviously I can't go into the
pub, so why don't you bring me some gin. Oh, and just to
camouflage my intent, maybe you should bring it in a cup not
a glass."

"Okay," said Murphy and into the bar he breezed.

"I'll have a large gin," he said to the barman. "And can you
put it in a cup?"

"Good grief," said the barman, "that preacher's not outside
again is he?"
