Who was the first woman to be commemorated on a US postage
stamp?
Martha Washington, George's wife, was the first, but she
wasn't recognized until the twentieth century. In 1901, she
appeared on the 8-cent stamp. She was also featured on later
stamps.
How closely related are cows and humans?
Apparently, humans are closer to cows than they think. Apes
are the closest human relatives, but cows may not be far
behind. After compiling a rough map (but not the completed
sequence) of cow genes, University of Illinois researchers
say bovines bear a surprising resemblance to humans. "The
extent of similarity is overwhelming, shocking in some
respects," Harris Lewin of the university's Keck Center for
Comparative and Functional Genomics, told UPI. "Very big
regions seem to be organized identically." The results could
be used to identify superior disease-resistance genes, which
could be cloned into cattle to lessen the reliance on
antibiotics in cattle production. "That's a very 'green'
thing to do," says Lewin. It might also be useful as a
comparison map to help pinpoint the locations of genes in
humans. "Genes that affect lactation will likely be one of
them. The protein content of cow's milk could be important
to human milk, too."

2006 Mardi Gras Bags First Sponsor: Glad
GLAD PRODUCTS, MAKER OF FAMED Glad trash bags, became the
first corporate sponsor of New Orleans' 2006 Mardi Gras, it
was announced Tuesday. As part of efforts to recover from
Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has formed a Mardi Gras Ad
Support and Sponsorship Program to recruit corporate
sponsors for the annual celebration. Glad is the first
"high-level" sponsor to join, promising 100,000 trash bags
and logistical support to lessen expenses associated with
the city's production of the revel.

Spyware Strains Triple In '05
An anti-malware developer says the spyware problem worsened
significantly in 2005, as the number of programs tripled,
became more sophisticated, and attached themselves to more
computers in the U.S. than any other country. According to
Boulder, Colo.-based Webroot, there were 400,000 spyware
distributing sites and a global count of 120,000 different
traces, or components, at the end of 2005. The latter number
had tripled from the beginning of last year, the firm said,
due to the increasing sophistication of spyware makers. The
percentage of infected business machines also tripled,
climbing from 2 to 6 percent. However, consumer machines
remained the most at risk, because a fewer number are
protected by anti-spyware software. The firm said an
astonishing 81 percent of consumer machines harbored at
least one piece of spyware, with the average machine
containing 25 traces. In spite of the gloomy numbers,
Webroot executives expect spyware to become more of an
annoyance in 2006, like spam is now, rather than a security
threat.
(Of course, folks, you could always get a Mac. No viruses, no spyware.

The rest of the people in class had returned to form a
tight group. They looked on in awe as the little girl and
Billy petted the lion.
Soon Billy stopped petting and took the little girl by
the hand, walking away from the lion. The cat just sat there
and watched, almost dazed, wondering what all that was
about. This was as foreign to the cat as it was to the
people. Slowly she rose and walked away.
"Mr. Billy, that was dangerous. That cat nearly attacked
and killed you and this child."
"No. The life that motivates you is also the same life
force that gives life to the lion. Once the lion knew we
were of the same force and saw it was not threatened, it
calmed down. I knew it was not going to attack because I was
sending love unto the lion that it might know we were
brother and sister. When the big cat was not threatened it
no longer had to attack. It is only when it sees fear that
it wants to strike out."
"This child is the only one in our village who has
petted a lion. She will be famous."
"She is not the only one. Hemno has done this many times
as has Sonora. When you truly, deeply love all around you
they are all your friends. When you are afraid they will
always give you a reason to be. They will do exactly as you
picture them doing, attack you. No fear, the animal will
hardly know you are there."
Slowly they made their way back up the hill toward
Billy's hut. All the way Billy was speaking with them,
showing them the similarities between them and their world.
He was trying to get to the point where they could see the
possibility of the life force within them being their Maker.
Once he had that established in their minds then he could
work with them on learning to communicate with their Maker.
When they reached the top of the hill he gathered them
all around him. "Today you have seen you have the life force
within you just as the grass, the rock, the lion. Each of
you is brother or sister to each other. When you love one
another you are interested in helping one another. That
means peace and prosperity will follow. When you hate one
another that separates and strife and pain are the result.
Each of you can make the choice on which way you will choose
to live. Which way will be more productive for you?"
"To love one another."
"That's right. So you see why I want you to go home and
do some chores even when you aren't asked to do them? The
more you do this for your folks and for your neighbors the
better life is in all the village. Now, I want to give you a
warning. I don't want you going down on the plain and
walking amongst the lions unless I am with you, okay?"
"Okay."
Billy raised his hands over the group and again looked
each one in the eye. "Your sins are forgiven. Go and serve
your Maker. See you tomorrow."
Again, the kids ran away laughing and jumping. The
adults stayed.
"Mr. Billy, how is it you can forgive our sins?"
"If you had been given the proper knowledge each of you
could forgive your own sins. As it is you go through life
believing you are doing wrong or you have done wrong and you
carry that as a guilt, within yourself. You must not do
that. You are each a child of your Maker. Each has the power
of your Maker. You are to concentrate on communicating with
your Maker first and always. If you carry guilt you cannot
do that. So I forgave your sins. Once you realize they are
truly forgiven you have a clear mind to do what you must do,
communicate with your Maker. It is in the communicating with
your Maker that you find the laws and the power to have
dominion over all things. Do not believe you have dominion
over the lion when you have a gun. That is foolishness. You
have dominion over the lion when you can walk among them as
a friend to each one and know they will not attack you. You
have dominion over all things when you can manifest water
wherever you need it. These things are of your Maker and
your Maker will show you the way when you honestly show you
are committed to living as your Maker wants."
"May we tell the village this?"
"Of course you may. Your Maker's way is for all men, all
women, all children."
The adults left, happy deep within their hearts. Billy
felt a set of arms go around his chest, from behind. He knew
who it was. "Hello, sweetheart."
"So, Mr. Billy, are you making headway? You nearly blew
the village apart the last couple days. How did today go?"
"I had to do those things to stimulate their thinking
and their conversation. We had a very good day today. From
now on I don't think they will be surprised at anything I
do. They have had their minds jolted and are thinking. That
is all I wanted. They are free to think as they wish but
now, at least, they have had the opportunity to look at and
question who and what they are."
"I know. I saw what you were doing. I am glad you are
here and that you asked permission to do this work. They
would not listen to me or the folks. You are good for this
village, but not half as good as you are for me." Sonora put
her arms around Billy and drove her groin into his. She
kissed him with a wet and sloppy kiss and before he knew
what had hit him he was breathing like a bull in rut.
Once she had him in a sexual fever, she turned and ran,
laughing.
"Why you little vixen you" and Billy was after her. This
time however he surprised her. He didn't catch up with her
on the ground as she expected. He projected himself in front
of her, and, waiting with his arms wide open, caught her
completely by surprise. She was laughing so hard she was
weak as a kitten. They lay down on the grass in the hot
noonday sun. Billy put a shield around them to protect them
from the sun and so no one could see them.
