TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

How come hair on my arms and legs never gets that long?

Is it true that blondes have more hair then anyone else?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

How fast can sled dogs run?

Sled dogs can maintain average speeds of eight to twelve
miles an hour for hundreds of miles (and that includes rest
stops). On shorter runs, dogs can run more than twenty miles
an hour.

If I never cut my hair, how long would it grow?

Probably about three and a half feet. There have been a few
people (look in the Guinness Book of World Records!) who
have managed to grow hair all the way down to their feet
(some have even grown hair more than twelve feet long), but
those people are rare. Hair will not keep growing
indefinitely. Eventually, each hair falls out and is
replaced by new hair.

What Do You Want?

I love the dictionary! Yes, I know, you cannot really love
inanimate things, but that book surprises me, supports me,
and challenges me. Sometimes, I honestly believe a word is
just right for my purpose and I look it up and it is more
than just right. It’s precise definition is perfect! After
reading the definition, then, I am even more inspired to
write.

Today, the word ‘want’ jumped into my mind and I was curious
to see what it really means. I use it frequently in seminars
in the context of knowing what you want. Somehow, I felt a
little niggle that it might not express what I thought it
was expressing. So, here’s the scoop:

WANT -

• 1. to be needy or destitute
• 2. to have or feel need
• 3. to be necessary or needed
• 4. to desire to come, go or be
• 5. to fail to possess in the required amount: LACK
• 6. to have a strong desire for
• 7. to have an inclination to
• 8. to have need of
• 9. to suffer from lack

Some of those definitions would work for me, however, not
the first few! How about you?

WOW! Am I needy? Better find out what that means. I looked
it up and found it was all about lack. Now, then, this is
getting interesting. I clearly wish to affirm abundance and
prosperity in every way every moment and that requires clear
language. What language would be more affirmative?

Maybe, the word I’m looking for is “desire”. Aha! That’s it!
I have desires–things I long for, request, invite. Yes,
that’s it. My question to ask now is: “What Do You Desire?”
That feels better to me.

Too picky about words? Maybe. Words have vibrations and
create mental images for the subconscious mind to manifest.
Desire is a much more powerful image than want in my books.
How about yours? Will you join me in focusing on your
desires? (Now, don’t go there!!!!)

So, I have learned something today from simply listening to
what popped into my head. I wonder where that thought came
from???!!! There’s no question in my mind so I’ll just keep
listening.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 9 of 31

Cardiovascular Disease

Heart Attack Coronary heart disease results when
arteries are narrowed or blocked by plaque. Plaque
usually consists of cholesterol, blood clotting
proteins, calcium and other substances. This narrowing
is often referred to as atherosclerosis. When this
takes place in the arteries leading to and around the
heart, the result is coronary heart disease. Over time,
the blood supply to the heart muscle can be severely
reduced or blocked, depriving the heart of the oxygen
it needs, resulting in a heart attack. Basically,
coronary heart disease precedes a heart attack and
anything that contributes to it could contribute to a
heart attack. What is significant here is that a number
of studies directly link gum disease to coronary heart
disease and heart attack.

In one study, researchers found a relationship between
dental disease and the risk of dying. The study is
noteworthy for a number of reasons. It was conducted in
the United States and included 9,760 subjects, making
the study (at that time) the largest of its kind. In
addition, several important discoveries resulted from
this study.

The study concluded that those with periodontitis (the
more advanced form of gum disease) had a 25% increased
risk of coronary heart disease compared to those with
minimal periodontal disease. It is interesting to note
that in this study, decay (dental caries) was not
observed to be a factor in coronary heart disease. In
men under 50, periodontal disease was an even stronger
risk factor in coronary heart disease. In this group,
men with periodontitis had nearly twice the risk of
coronary heart disease than men who had little or no
periodontal disease. In the total population (men and
women of all ages) the degree of dental debris (dental
plaque) and calculus (tartar), as reflected in the oral
hygiene index, was a stronger risk factor for coronary
heart disease than was the severity of periodontal
disease.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

It was three days before Ben arrived home. The rescue
efforts were still going on but the worst was clearly over.

"I'm sorry I missed out on a fine evening at your place,
Sam." Ben was communicating telepathically with Sam.

"Come on, guy. We all know we have to go when called.
That's just fine, and a very small price to pay for all the
advantages we have. I'm glad you went."

"What a mess, Sam. I can hardly believe, sometimes, when
Mom Nature gets on a rampage she can do a lot of damage."

"You bet. Some of it looks pretty awful. Yet, you know
and I know that death is not a bad thing. It only seems so
to those who fear it."

"I know, Sam. Hey what are you up to?"

"Not much. Want to meet for a coffee? Why not come over
and we'll have a coffee out on the deck?"

"That's a great idea. I'll see you shortly."

Ben arrived maybe ten minutes later. Sam was already
sitting out on his back deck. It was a covered deck so they
were able to enjoy the warmth without the direct sun on
them.

"You know, Ben, I think we're going to see some hard
times coming. There are getting to be more and more books
published on the end times. That's not so bad but what is
creating fear is there are some scientists that are
providing a plausible explanation as to how it is going to
arrive. They are claiming the world has already used up half
of the world's oil reserves and with the increasing demand
they we can look forward to a world without oil by 2020 or
2030. One thing is for certain, they claim, there will be no
oil at the turn of the next century."

"I haven't been paying attention, Sam. Tell me more."

"Well, as nearly all the worlds chemicals are dependent
on oil, it means we will have less medicines, less
fertilizers, ultimately less food. There will be huge
droughts all over the world, and depressions that will make
the dirty thirties look like a picnic. Because of all this
writers are referring to end time prophesies in the bible
and elsewhere. It really amounts to fear mongering, yet it
is catching on both because it appears plausible and because
everyone thinks they know of end time prophesies."
"I can see that one. People will go crazy. They'll horde
food, thinking it will tide them over. Others will take to
guns and crime will run rampant in the streets, all in
pursuit of food. Thousands, maybe millions will die."

"That is what they are saying. Some think the earth
cannot support more than a billion people and as of this day
we have six and a half billion. Others say we have too long
neglected or thought little of the global warming that is
going on and the effects of that will strike at about the
same time we finally run out of oil. The effects of those
simultaneous occurrences with be catastrophic, at least in
the eyes of most of the world's population."

"I can see that, Sam. What do they say will ultimately
happen?"

"They are envisioning a world mentally retreated to
tribal instincts, fighting, killing, robbing, stealing,
raping. All things will be justified in the name of pursuit
of food. Until we get to that point the oil companies will
continue to tell us we have nothing to worry about. They
will pursue their profits to the very end as if having all
the world's money will be their solution. Those men and
women who have money will doll out food for favors. There
will become little savage fiefdoms here and there, all
controlling the people with the false belief they have money
and can solve everything. In the meantime they will hand out
a few scraps here and there enjoying the picture of grown
men and women willing to do anything to get their hands on
those scraps. The picture is not a pretty one."

"So, Sam, I guess we will have our hands full!"

"We will, Ben. We will. Only those wise enough now to
take the true spiritual path will be able to survive.
Survival will not be based on food man has manufactured or
stored. Survival will depend entirely and exclusively on
one's relationship with their Maker inside them. No church
will be able to help. Religion, all religion, will fail the
people dramatically and traumatically. The silly and foolish
will look to them for help they will be unable to give."

"Yes, I suppose. There is another group who think
technology will pull us out, that maybe somebody will think
of something and all will be well. In the meantime they
party, have sex, use drugs and liquor. They party on as if
there was never anything serious to think about."

"You've introduced some pretty serious stuff, Sam. Where
is all this coming from?"

"I'm just bringing you up to date, Ben. We have a global
view of things now and we are able to see further afield
than most. Publications such as I have described are being
bought up as if they were gospel. More and more people are
becoming aware and afraid. Fear will be their biggest enemy.
It will prevent clear thinking and logical action. None will
give a thought their Maker has already provided a way for
them, the way Jesus and others spoke of so long ago. Most
will think this idea preposterous and place their faith in
science, technology, the church and the men in control. Few
will think the men in control are the ones who brought us to
this place. The masses will look to them for answers,
leadership and solutions. The time is rapidly approaching
when governments will become too disorganized to be able to
help. The only solution for anyone will be to go inside,
commit entirely and without equivocation, to living the life
their Maker wants for them."

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Indian Giver: Why is a person who gives someone a gift and
then expects to receive something in return called an
"Indian giver"?

At one time Indians were not well thought of and their
customs were not well understood. The Indian who expected
the white man to follow Indian custom and make a return gift
was considered to be more interested in gain than in being
generous.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

A new doctor had arrived in town. He could cure anything and
anybody. Everyone was amazed with what he could do -
everyone except for Mr. Thompson, the town skeptic.

Grumpy old Mr. Thompson went to visit this 'miracle doctor'
to prove that he wasn't anybody special. When it was time
for his appointment he told the doctor, "Hey, doc, I've lost
my sense of taste. I can't taste nothin', so what are ya
goin' to do?"

The doctor scratched his head and mumbled to himself a
little, then told Mr. Thompson, "What you need is jar number
47."

So the doctor brought the jar out, opened it, and told Mr.
Thompson to taste it. He tasted it and immediately spit it
out, "This is gross!" he yelled. "Looks like I just restored
your sense of taste Mr. Thompson," said the doctor. So Mr.
Thompson went home.... very mad.

One month later, Mr. Thompson decides to go back to the
doctor and try once again to expose him as a fake, by
complaining of a new problem. "Doc," he started, "I can't
remember anything!" Thinking he had the doctor stumped now,
he waited as the doctor scratched his head, mumbled to
himself a little, and told Mr. Thompson, "What you need is
jar number 47, it's......"

But before the doctor could finish his sentence, Mr.
Thompson was cured and fled the room!
