"If you would spend 80% of your ad money making your
existing customers feel like kings, you could get one
customer to bring you another customer just like them -
by Word-of-Mouth advertising. That would double your
business and keep your customers loyal - what a concept."

When is Children's Day?
What is Universal Children's Day?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
So when did it become a worker's holiday?
May Day became a worker's holiday in the modern
era, evolving from a violent struggle for the eight-hour
work day by overworked and underpaid laborers. In
the US in 1884, the Federation of Organized Trade
and Labor Unions passed a resolution declaring that,
as of May 1, 1886, eight hours would constitute a full
and legal work day. (Workers were then working up
to sixteen hours a day!) On May 1, 1886, there were
national strikes by workers in the US and Canada. In
Chicago, police attacked demonstrators, killing several.
The day after the strikes started, a bomb exploded in
a crowd of police at a demonstration against police
brutality in Chicago. Police arrested eight trade
unionists for the bomb in Haymarket Square. At their
trial, the eight were tried for fighting for their rights as
much as for the allegations that they threw the bomb.
There is much controversy to this day as to the guilt or
innocence of the eight, but four were found guilty and
executed. Many saw their punishments as being a
"lesson" to others who would agitate for rights for
workers. In Paris in 1889, the International Working
Men's Association declared May 1st an international
working class holiday in commemoration of the
Haymarket "martyrs".
What do you call a group of turtles?
People who keep pet turtles often refer to a group of
them as a "herd," but the classic collective term for
turtles is a "bale" of turtles.

Business Is Coming Back Up.
by Ken Darby
It appears as if the economy is picking up again, and the
net is no exception.
I always took car manufacturing a a signal of what was
happening in our economy, but there is another one,
newspaper revenues. When the jobs are gone, the help
wanted revenues diminish. When the economy is on a
roll, those revenues are up.
As more and more of the nine million unemployed go
back to work, the newspaper revenues are beginning
to climb, with expectations of a heavy growth year.
According to NAA the newspaper advertising business
can reasonably expect a gain of about 4.1 percent this year.
Retail business is expected to exceed that percentage
with expectations coming in at five percent and
according to surveys business done on the internet
will increase by an even larger margin than that.
The latest online retail sales tally from comScore is
out -- the company reports that $17.21 billion was
generated online during the holiday quarter of 2003.
How does this estimate line up with eMarketer's
projection?
And, as you might expect, it appears internet
advertising budgets, getting larger, are hurting
those in the magazine industry.
Those are just some of the tidbits available today.
They continue to reveal why business should consider
very seriously, the Internet Marketing Package from
theNEWSSHOP. It is a very simple, inexpensive way
to keep in touch with your buying audience. With
time fragmentation occurring at increasing rates, your
newsletters can be a welcome, steady underpinning
in the lives of your readers.

Word 2000
The Word 2000 window is cluttered,, but you can
do something about that with options on the View menu:
To remove a toolbar, choose View, and then click on Toolbars.
In the submenu, check marks appear beside the toolbars
currently showing. Click a toolbar name to remove the check
mark and remove the toolbar from the screen as well.
Now choose View, then Ruler to get rid of the ruler.
Choose View, and the choose Full Screen if you want
to get rid of everything except the text you're working on.
When you choose Full Screen, everything gets stripped away
-- buttons, menus, scroll bars, and all. Only a single
button called Close Full Screen remains. Click it or press
Esc when you want the buttons, menus, and so on to come
back.

Stress And How It Affects Your Physical Body
A Few Ideas To Enhance Your Fitness Level.
PART 2 of 9
Stress affects your body negatively. For that reason, you really
don't want it to "hang around" for any length of time. Many
people say it's inevitable. I don't agree. I think you can learn
to behave in ways that protect your body from long term damage.
It isn't easy or fast, but it's doable. And once you think
through a few different concepts or change your perceptions, you
can move from a frozen or paralyzed state into taking control of
your future. In fact, it's really the only way you can protect
yourself, but most of us have to discover this for ourselves.
And usually we do this in isolation. Start by asking yourself
"how can I" instead of just accepting your situation. Really
believe you could possibly make some changes in how life around
you happens. Ways will appear. Imagine taking a tiny risk and
achieving one small new goal and then taking another and another
and winning each time. Would this not contribute to your sense
of freedom? And it would certainly lower your stress level.
Let's look at this from an anatomical viewpoint. If you feel
totally relaxed, all your body systems flow relatively evenly
and perform as they are designed to do. Your heart is relaxed
and it pumps in a nice, calm manner. It sends blood to all parts
of the body carrying life-supporting nutrients and oxygen. No
strain. No stress. Now just for a second, clench your fist as if
you are angry. Or what is much more common, act as if you are
fearful! Feel how your whole hand is clenched. Now feel your
entire body in the same stiffened manner. Check yourself...body
tight, hands clenched, facial frown. Your entire body is out of
its natural alignment. And you rightfully say "so what"?
Essentially, this misalignment, in all parts of your body causes
"dis-ease" or this "un-relaxed state". This causes many of our
degenerative conditions. These are abnormal.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Not as if following orders, Romano actually thought
going to the well to find Mombudo was a good idea. "I
think I'll just do that, seeing as how I'm being stoned
here." He rose, laughing at the girls, who tossed another
stone at him.
"If you see Hemno along the way tell him supper will
soon be ready, and to get himself home here." asked
Sonora.
"How is Hemno? I haven't seen him for as long as I
missed you." asked Oomano.
"He is fine. Growing like a weed. He is a good listener. I
think he will make a fine master. His heart is good. He is
not selfish, in fact he has a hard time getting on with a lot
of kids, because they take his gentleness as weakness.
He knows it is not, but that is how some of the village kids
react to him." said Sonora.
Romano casually walked through the village. A lot of the
women were bent over cooking fires, and the odors that
wafted through the village were beginning to tempt even
his taste buds. On a still day, no breeze, you could sure
tell it was mealtime. When there was a breeze you had
to be in a certain position to grasp the smells that were
coming to his nose this day.
The village was not large so his journey to the well did
not take long. As he passed all the huts, the women
stopped what they were doing and looked at him, as they
would any stranger. As he approached the well, the men
around it did the same. Mombudo recognized him and
came out from among the crowd. They embraced, then
Mombudo turned back to the crowd of men and introduced
Romano.
Broadcasting love as he always did, Romano found he
was welcomed into the group without hesitation. The men
sensed no competitiveness in him and so, he was no threat.
"The ladies sent me to get you for supper." Romano said
to Mombudo, "And from the smells that reach my nose
now I'd say it was suppertime all over the village."
The day had been a hot, breezeless day and it remained
so now. The men took one bucket of water from the
well, and one by one, splashed it on themselves for a
brief refuge from the heat.
Mombudo and Romano talked on their way home.
Romano brought his host up to date with events and the
reason for his coming. Mombudo was glad to hear of the
upcoming wedding, and he would be glad to attend.
"By the way, Sonora asked me to hunt down Hemno. Do
you know where he is?" asked Romano.
"Yes, he is right there." said Mombudo, pointing to a
group of boys running around some huts.
They walked over to the boys. When Hemno saw Romano
he came running and put his arms around him. Hemno
was much taller than the last time Romano saw him.
"How are you doing there lanky?" asked Romano.
"I'm fine Mr. Romano. What is this word lanky?" asked
Hemno.
"It means tall and gangly. All legs and arms. You are
growing tall my young friend. It is good to see. Come,
it is suppertime." said Romano.
Hemno said goodbye to his friends and fell in with
Mombudo and Romano. The three of them sauntered
slowly toward home amidst all the odors.
"Gee, I'm hungry." said Hemno as he arrived at the
cooking fire.
"You're always hungry these days. It's all we can do
to keep enough food around for someone who eats
like an elephant." Sonora teased him, and winked.
This young boy was no longer a boy but well on his
way to manhood.
"Do you think we should invite Hemno?" Romano
winked at Oomano.
"I don't know. I'll leave it up to you." she responded,
knowing what he was up to.
"What are you guys talking about?" asked Hemno.
"Oh were just thinking about whether or not we should
ask you to come or not. I guess it will depend on whether
or not you've been good. Has he been good Sonora?"
asked Romano, keeping up the teasing.

"At the store," she answered.
"Which one?" I asked.

"Both of them!"
