When is Children's Day?
According to my mother, EVERY day is children's day.
At least that's the response I always got when I whined
about it as a kid on Mother's Day. But in Japan, there
really IS a children's day. It's called "Kodomon no Hi"
and it occurs every May 5 (that's today, of course).
Originally a day to pray for the healthy growth of boys,
it's now celebrated by flying carp-shaped streamers --
one streamer for each member of the family. Dolls of
samurai warriors are displayed and rice dumplings
wrapped in bamboo leaves ("timaki") and rice cakes
wrapped in oka leaves ("Kasiwamoti") are made.
What is Universal Children's Day?
Also called International Children's Day, November 20
is celebrated as the international day for children. The
United Nations General Assembly recommended in 1954
that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day. The
holiday is to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity
and understanding between children and of activity
promoting the welfare of children around the globe.
November 20 marks the day on which the Assembly
adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, in
1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child,
in 1989.

Make It Worth Their While!

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller.
He can see from her nameplate that the teller's
name is Patricia Whack. So he says, "Mrs. Whack,
I'd like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long
vacation."
Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how
much he wants to borrow.
The frog says $30,000.
The teller asks his name and the frog says that
his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger,
and that it's OK, he knows the bank manager.
Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount
of money and that he will need to secure some collateral
against the loan. She asks if he has anything he
can use as collateral.
The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a
tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall
that is bright pink and perfectly formed.
Very confused, Patti explains that she'll have to
consult with the manager and disappears into
a back office.
She finds the manager and says: "There's a frog
called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know
you and wants to borrow $30,000. And he wants
to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny
pink elephant. "I mean, what the heck is this?"...
The bank manager looks back at her and says:
"It's a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan.
His old man's a Rolling Stone."
WOW! I love it.
I laughed at this, and snickered, several times today.
This is one joke that gave me a real tickle.
And that is the point of the article today. In all my
writing I keep in mind always that the reader, the
person I want to reach, is a very busy person. That is
to say my readers are busy people if they are anything
like me. I respect that. I know how time fragmentation
means they have few minutes to call their own.
So, when I write I continually try to make it worth
their while. They are investing time, thought, energy
and emotions when they read. If they are willing to
invest that in reading any article I write then it is up
to me to make it worth their investment.
So should you, in everything you say and write. People
have their own lives to lead and it is critical you know
and respect that. It pleases me that people are like that.
It is the free and independent spirit that continues to grow
in each one of us that makes our lives great. That comes
from respecting each others time and attention when
they listen to us.
That anyone would take the time to read my material is
a very high compliment. It means I must absolutely
respect their time, and never take their reading of my
articles for granted.
That, too is a point for you to think on. When someone
listens to you there is an element of trust you must
earn, and keep earning every day. Think on that if
you would progress.
It is a simple formula - give them something.

Stress And How It Affects Your Physical Body
A Few Ideas To Enhance Your Fitness Level.

That is why I talk so much about stress and de-stressors. You
need to be aware of your body's ability to provide a negative or
positive outcome. It doesn't happen by chance. It happens
automatically. It's a learned response as opposed to your heart,
which beats automatically. Your heart beats until you die, but
the pace at which it beats can be controlled. If we realise just
how we get these negative results by our unconscious actions, we
would stop them immediately.
But you didn't even realise you were being programmed! We simply
think our stressors are this way and no one will tell us
differently. Now here is the good part...if you know you can
change the outcomes, would you do it? Of course! But you need to
be wise to the things that are helpful and those that are
harmful. It comes down to choices and they are yours. But it
takes courage to follow an unusual course of action. And being
less than 100% fit, it adds another dimension: a lack of energy
and possibly motivation to defend your independence.
Often, others feel it is their right to tell you what to do,
etc. But if it leads to undesirable health conditions such as
high blood pressure or arthritis, why would you listen to them?
As I answer health questions, I am quite aware of similarities
that underlie the actual questions. If you really knew you had a
choice to do something different, would you want to be sick? I
doubt it very much. Because I have had to learn to deal with
similar situations myself, so I thought I would share some of my
"lessons". One of the most important factors to always keep in
mind is that you are UNIQUE. There isn't another person in the
world like you. Bearing that in mind, know that not only are you
unique, but now there is also no one who has your feelings or
your exact experiences...similar: yes, identical: no. They may
be able to relate to or empathize with your results, but they
don't have all your experiences. And it's those experiences that
allow you to become who you really are. They are a very
important part of your growth as a "free" individual.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Well - - - - sometimes at least. I think he has earned
the trip." she replied.
"What are you guys talking about. I know you're teasing
me." said Hemno, with a calm that came from his
teachings from Sonora.
Romano told him of the upcoming wedding and that
he and the family was invited to come to it.
Hemno became excited. He was not so much excited
for the marriage for he was not yet of the age where he
realized what that really meant, but the idea of traveling
to South America and visiting Romano at his home,
that excited him.
Conversation continued over supper, and Oomano and
Romano both ate some, in spite of just having come
from breakfast. All in all it was a very pleasant visit,
and the invitation was accepted by all.
Saying their goodbyes, Oomano and Romano left
for Pinehill.
"Oh! Hello Romano, Oomano. How are you two today?"
asked Sam Henry as they touched down and became
visible on the driveway. Sam, as he often did, was out
polishing the family car. He could have done it with one
swipe or less, but he did it the old fashioned way to
occupy his time while Alewka was busy in the kitchen.
"What brings you here to Pinehill?" he asked, although
he already knew the answer.
"We came to invite you to our wedding Mr. Sam."
answered Oomano, "You and the family, of course, and,
if possible, the rest of the people from Pinehill that came
to Missy's wedding. We want to get that whole group
together. They seemed to enjoy each other so much we
thought it would be nice to do it all again."
"Well, that's wonderful." said Sam as he walked over to
Oomano and gave her a big hug, and to Romano and
also gave him a big hug. "Come, let's go in and tell
Alewka. She'll be pleased."
They walked into the house and Sam hollered to the
kitchen "Honey! We have some company."
Alewka stopped what she was doing because she had
long ago learned from Sam's mannerisms, this was not
the neighbors visiting.
"Oh! Hi you guys, Welcome." and she came over to give
each of them a hug.
"What brings you here?" although Alewka already knew.
Oomano and Romano told her and got another very
excited hug.
"You bet we will come. We wouldn't miss it for anything.
Thank you for the invite. Come. Sit down and let's have
a coffee while we hear all about what is going on with
your family, your plans and all." said Alewka.
They chatted for a while and the kids brought Sam and
Alewka up to date with all the events at home.
"We kept informed about Riata and the situation at the
shrine. Many there are who were watching the situation.
It appears to be working out well." said Alewka.
That surprised the kids a bit for they did not know others
besides the few who were there, were watching. It made
sense because all those who lived by higher law had a
deep and strong tie to all others who did likewise. None
of them could go anywhere without protection. It was a
comforting thought.
"If we wait a while, Sue from next door usually comes
over for coffee in about fifteen minutes. You can ask her
then. The others you will have to go see." said Alewka.
"Why don't you and I do that right now, Romano. We can
go see Ben Striker and Jim White both at the same
place." invited Sam.
"That's a good idea. That okay with you honey?" asked
Romano of Oomano.
"Certainly. I'll be here." she responded.
With that Sam and Romano vanished, only to reappear
at the door of the Police Station.
They walked inside and almost bumped right into
Jim White, who was on his way out.
