Why do dolphins whistle?

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Why do we call the hottest days of summer the "dog days" of
summer?
It's not because we're panting like dogs on those days. The
phrase dates back to ancient times when astronomers noted
that the hottest period extended from about 20 days before
to 20 days after the conjunction of Sirius (the "dog star")
and our sun. That's from about July 4 to August 11.
What is the difference between a dolphin and a porpoise?
Dolphins and porpoises are both mammals and are very closely
related. Both are members of the toothed whale family, among
the most intelligent of all animals. The way to tell them
apart is that the porpoise has a rounded head while the
dolphin has a protruding snout. However (and here is where
it gets confusing), we're talking only about bottle-nosed
dolphins (like Flipper) here. There are also several fish
called dolphins. So if you see dolphin on the menu at one of
your finer restaurants, don't get upset. It's the fish that
is being served.

Accept The Inevitable!
Early in my flying career, I had my first night flight.
Looking down into the darkness, I asked my instructor what
we would do if the engine failed.
"Get the plane gliding in a controlled descent," he said,
"then attempt to restart the engine and make a 'Mayday'
call. The only difference between day and night flying is
that the terrain below will not be clearly visible, so you
should point the aircraft toward whatever looks like a clear
area and it should be pointing into the wind."
"Then what?" I asked.
"Conserve your battery, so don't turn on your landing lights
until you're close to the ground. If you like what you see,
land."
"Okay, but what if I don't like what I see?"
My instructor gave me a compassionate look inside that dim
cockpit, then said softly,
"Turn off the landing lights."
Sounds scary doesn't it? Yet there are times in life when
all you can do is sit back, relax, and let things happen.
Over the years it has come to my attention we should do that
more often than when we are forced to.
When a farmer works his land, plants his crop and ensures
the insects aren't eating it up, there are many days when he
does nothing but watch it. He realizes that not only is
there a time for planting and a time for harvesting, but
there is also a time for waiting.
The point is that when you do your planning right, when you
have done all the work, when you know there is not much more
you can do - - - you can wait.
It can be a unique situation, often is. I have a web site I
put up simply because truth must be told. I do very little,
almost nothing, to promote it, yet it regularly gets
attention by those who are interested.
That is the way your business can go, too. Work hard at it,
yet realize there are times when you can only sit back and
let things happen.
There is a saying, amongst Christians, that says "Let go and
let God." Many times that is far more appropriate than we
like to think.
One of the difficulties with the way we live life today is
we give no attention to the real spiritual side of nature
and ourselves. Yes we go to church, but that does not deal
with our spiritual side, That deals with church stuff.
When you take the time to go inside yourself and meet your
Maker, then you are dealing with the real spiritual side.
There you can learn to be comfortable with letting go.
There, too, you can learn to relax on a regular basis,
knowing that all will be well, that you cannot build Rome,
or your business, in a day, that there is a real need for
time for things to "grow" so to speak.
Your enthusiasm, your eagerness to make things happen will
take over you and make you think that if something isn't
happening then you must make things happen. Bear in mind it
takes time for people to learn of what you offer, it takes
time for them to come to trust you, it takes time for them
to make a decision.
Let not your eagerness get in the way of real progress.
Learn to sit back and wait. Learn to go through the period
of blending, mellowing, growing, maturing. Learn to - - -

Anatomy And Physiology (A&P)
The Make Up Of Your Body And
How It Functions
PART 3 of 9
Do you ever look at pictures in medical books or sites and
wonder why the patient is always facing to the front, in an
upright position? That's called the anatomical position. From
that viewpoint, everything is identified. So a medical person
anywhere in the world can relate to the picture or person. It
allows everyone to determine how "deviant" the situation is from
the normal. Everyone in the medical community studies this in
detail. It is the roadmap for their decisions. Each must learn
and understand and then apply this knowledge. The truth is the
truth. And remember that when a health care professional is
checking you in person, they are facing you. Same as the picture
person. So the doctor's "left" is actually your "right". They
will immediately "translate" this to the correct side. There are
also imaginary lines drawn all over your body. They describe
different parts of the body in quadrants or planes. Each has a
specific meaning. So if you directed me to a pain in your left
upper quadrant, I would know what structures lie underneath that
point. And cavities ("hollow" or "unoccupied" spaces) exist in
your body. They are not solely holes in your teeth. Everyone
has an anterior and a posterior side: front and back. Because
everyone's anatomy is virtually identical, you can see how
quickly someone can make a medical assumption. Granted once in
while someone has an anomaly or an unusual position or no organ
at all but here we are only dealing with the normal anatomy for
the general population.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
"That's pretty blasphemous isn't it?"
"You decide. Jesus spoke those words. The real question
is do you believe them?"
"I . . . I don't know. I never thought about it."
"Right and isn't that the point? What will your life
amount to? Are you going to work all your life, raise money
so your kids can go to college and you pay your house off?
Then what?"
"I always thought that was enough."
"Hank, that is certainly a daunting and expected
responsibility, yet is that all you can do?"
"Do you know how tired I am at the end of a day?"
"That is only an excuse, Hank, especially when we are
talking of the possibility of living a life that removes you
from all work and effort such as you expend now. That is the
first thing all those on the path must realize. They and
they alone are exclusively responsible for who and what they
are. That accident the other night was no blind coincidence.
That was your soul telling you to get on with life, make
some decisions and do more. Wake up to what life really is,
then make a decision. You can decide no, if you want to.
That will only delay the inevitable. In this lifetime or
some lifetime in the future you will face the path and you
will take it. That the opportunity is before you would
indicate you already know it is the way."
"You drive a hard bargain."
"Hank, Kathy, I am only here to let you know what can be
available for you. I refuse to listen to your whining and
crying excuses that are so feeble they won't hold air, let
alone water. You can lie if you want but by law 'As ye sow,
so shall ye reap' you will reap the rewards of such a lie.
Think on that. Then you will know you are responsible for
all that happens to you."
"Tim, isn't it, Tim? Do you mean to say that all who
have heart attacks actually think them into existence?"
"Exactly, irrevocably, unequivocally."
"That's absurd."
"Kathy, is it? Can we look at the typical scenario by
which that happens?"
"Yes."
"Good. Let's consider that everyday of your life you see
sickness, illness around you. You hear of stories that this
friend is in hospital with cancer, that friend had a heart
attack. Everyday you are literally bombarded with what you
think is reality, that man is supposed to get sick, ill,
die. You don't think one thought to the contrary. Then you
sit down in the evening and watch television. What you see
is news that shows you all the terrible things happening in
the world. Then you watch hospital shows and police shows,
all of which deal with the very worst conditions of human
life. Then there are the commercials. Have you ever watched
a commercial dealing with cold medicine? Have you seen that
they do not say,'if you get a cold' they say instead, 'when
you get a cold'. That subtle change repeated continuously
soon has you realizing you are going to get a cold. You are
already planning on it and, you they are giving you the
solution.
A heart attack is the same way. There is so much of it
around you futiley give up saying there is nothing you can
do about it. If you are going to get one then so be it. You
don't even do this at the conscious level. You are simply
pre-conditioned by all you see around you that this is going
to happen. You do not see yourself as pure, perfect, young.
You do not see yourself as being the perfect being of your
Maker. You haven't even thought about seeing yourself that
way, and until you begin to inform your mind that is who you
are it will act on the junk you've been feeding it. It is
all a system of absorption and acceptance. You will become
what you accept. That includes heart attacks or cancer or
any other condition less than perfect."
"You mean I can change that kind of a future?"
"Certainly you can change that kind of a future. You and
only you are exclusively responsible for what happens to
you. Change your thoughts and you change your life. It is
exactly that simple."
"You're kidding."
"No, Kathy, I'm not kidding. You will have visited upon
you all that you have permitted yourself to believe. And you
can choose what you wish to believe. I made a mistake
earlier. I told you to read Matthew 22: 21 & 22. The verses
are Matthew 21: 21 & 22. In them Jesus tells you that 'All
things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye
shall receive." Your job is to make the decision as to
whether you believe him or not."
"Is he like this at home, Susan? It is Susan, isn't it?"
"Yes, Kathy. It is the law. We are each responsible for
what happens to us. One must accept that and then make right
choices. At first I didn't want to believe it either. But
that is the way it works. I have no choice. Neither has any
man. Those are the laws of your Maker. Whether you like them
or not isn't even part of the question. Those are the laws.
One has a choice to accept them and work with them or fight
against them all one's life. You, too, have that choice."
"You mean, you're the same?"
"I mean, Kathy, that the laws of your Maker are
irrefutable. They have not and will not change. It is up to
you to see them and use them or in the absence of that
knowledge you will be using them against yourself. Remember,
no decision is the same as a 'no'."
"I'm not sure I like where this is going, Hank. These
people don't budge an inch. It's my way or the highway with
them."

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Economy: Where does the word "economy" come from?
From the Greek word for "house manager". The one place where
we generally insist on the careful expenditure of money is
in our own home.

HA! HA! HA!
Twas the Month After Christmas
'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste As the holiday
parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I
walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared; The gravies
and sauces and beef nicely rared.
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese And the
way I'd never said, 'No thank you, please.'
As I dressed myself, in my husband's old shirt And prepared
once again to do battle with dirt--.
I said to myself, only as I can 'You can't spend a winter
disguised as a man.!
So-away with the last of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the
fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished 'Till
all the additional ounces have vanished.'
I won't have a cookie - not even a lick. I'll want only to
chew on a long celery stick..
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread pie, I'll munch on
a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore-- But isn't
that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot Happy New Year to all and
to all a good diet!
Diet?? What Diet!
