The Bronte sisters -- Charlotte, Anne, and Emily -- used
male pseudonyms to publish their writing. What were they?
Charlotte was Currer Bell; Emily was Ellis Bell; and Anne
was Acton Bell.
What city was the first ever to boast a population greater
than one million?
Ah, the glory that was Rome. Hard to believe a city (or an
empire) that big could ever crumble, but they do, they do.

Anatomy And Physiology (A&P)
The Make Up Of Your Body And
How It Functions
PART 7 of 9
But there is another important factor to remember. We
often hear that we start to deteriorate when we are born.
True enough. It's called the "aging process". It's normal
and natural. It starts at birth and ends in death. No one
can avoid it. But we can really prevent speeding up the
process! And that process is called disease and it is not
normal. But how can you possibly prevent the disease
from getting a foothold in your body if you don't know
the basic structures, functions, and needs?
Chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, strokes,
osteoporosis, and arthritis, plus many more can all be part of
the breakdown: of degeneration. Let's look at the normal
aging process. Normal aging is a series of lower activities:
thinner skin, fragile tissue and decreasing production of
body fluids such as lubricants, and slower mobility. It's
finer hair and less sharp eyesight. (But it is not macular
degeneration.) the terms "lesser", "thinner", "slower"
describe the normal aging process. Fewer hormones
are produced and secreted. Bone density
is reduced, but it's not an accelerated reduction as in
osteoporosis. Your heart slows down and it shows up as
fatigue and this results in less blood being circulated. That
brings about less activity, including nutrients, all through
your body. The nutrients that drive the metabolism are
fewer and less available. This is all normal. But it shows
how completely interrelated every part of you is!
Now enters a cultural phenomenon. The body of a 19 or
25 year old can run a long marathon. All the cells are
functioning at top performance. Anatomically they are
healthy and complete. Everything should be pretty perfect.
But we don't expect our 68 year old to be able to do the
same. It's not meant to be that way and for the senior who
does do this, they are to be commended. But it's rare. It's
perfectly possible. I would hazard a guess that only a tiny
fraction of our society is anatomically prepared to do this.
Most people cells are aging normally and are decreasing
their output or production. What came first? Nature or
culture? Personally I would think everything we do is
either based directly or indirectly on our understanding
of nature. Our natural makeup, experience, and
expectations influence us greatly.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

Kathy once more began to sob. She was beginning to
realize the meaning of what had happened this night. She had
a deep and abiding guilt over how they had been living their
life.
Hank knew immediately what was happening and he, too,
felt guilty for having lived as he had.
Tim and Sharon knew this reaction might come up. They
had seen it before. It was a case of church people thinking
they had sinned. It comes from the teaching one receives in
church. Both Hank and Kathy were thinking, not consciously,
but deep down in their soul that they had lived their lives
wrong. They had not, but the thoughts were deep and were
emotional. There was no way any type of convincing was going
to have them see the truth.
Tim got out of his chair and walked over to them. He
placed his hands one on each of their heads and broadcast
love unto and into them. "Your sins are forgiven." He spoke
with authority.
Kathy's sobs now became vocal. Hank soon followed.
It was as if the weight of the world had just been
lifted from them. They felt cleansed to the depths of their
being.
The purpose of the meeting this night was now fulfilled.
Tim and Sharon had completed what they had come to do.
The pair of them sat still for a while until Kathy and
Hank settled down. Tim refilled the coffee cups and they
continued talking until the coffee was finished.
"We must now take our leave. Thank you for your
hospitality. I hope we will see you again. Remember you need
only think of us in your mind and then call us. We will come
if you need us, or even if you just want to talk."
Tim and Sharon rose, shook hands with Hank and Kathy and
then vanished.
There was an odd stillness in the Brown household. It
was an awkward moment where neither Hank nor Kathy knew
what to do next.
Hank reached over and put his arm around Kathy and
pulled her to him. The pair of them just hugged for a while.
"Hank, what do you make of all this?" Kathy whispered
into his ear.
"Honey, I think we have a lot of thinking to do on it.
In my heart I want to proceed with what we have been given,
yet I know it is different than any teachings around us. It
is possible we will be looked upon as weird, different, even
by your folks and mine. It will make major changes in our
lives as we proceed. We have to think it over and talk it
over."
"I know." She let go of the hug and sat up. "Hank, I
feel different now. I somehow don't feel like I did before
this evening. It's like I knew where I was going and what I
was doing and now I don't know any longer."
"I know. I feel that way too. I don't know about you but
I see what life can be. I have a clear vision of what our
lives can be like, honey. It appeals to me that much that I
want to work on getting there."
"I can't see, honey. I don't have that vision."
"Can you see yourself like Sharon?"
"Yes, I can see that. I like her. She must have gone
through all this, too, only we are older than she. I don't
even know if they have any kids. We don't know much about
them do we. Maybe they are frauds?"
"Honey, do you honestly think that? After all they have
done for us do you really think that is a possibility?"
"No, I guess not. It's just that we don't know much
about them."
"Do we have to? Did they not tell us that we are not to
believe them. Didn't they say that we were to go inside and
commune with our Maker and there ask if this information is
right? And what about the visit by Jesus, let me look at
your arm. See. Look. That heart was not there before.
Neither was there one on my arm. This, surely, is evidence
enough to have you believe it really happened. Does it not
tell you it is right? What more do you need?"
"Hank, it isn't that. It's just that it all seems so
unreal. We've never had anything like this happen in our
lives before. We can't tell anyone about it, they won't
believe it. I'm not sure I can even tell my folks. Yet I
know they will sense something has changed. They know about
your accident, and now the car is back and in better shape
than it was. We'll have to tell them about what is
happening."
"I guess you're right. Maybe we should just make up our
minds to sit them down over a coffee and tell them the whole
story."
"That's my thinking. They may not believe it but we have
to tell them or they'll keep asking us what happened. We'll
have to do that with your folks too."
"Maybe we should agree on a few things first. This has
affected us both, deeply. I am of the opinion neither one of
us is going to be the same. Our thoughts have changed, our
ideas have changed. We have to face that and deal with it.
Then we have to make a choice. Are we or are we not going to
work toward living by higher law?"
Kathy hesitated. "I . . . I don't know."
The real answer is no. Unless one is positively yes and
commits the automatic answer is - no.

HA! HA! HA!
I stopped at a florist shop after work to pick up roses for
my wife. As the clerk was putting the finishing touches on
the bouquet, a young man burst through the door,
breathlessly requesting a dozen red roses.
"I'm sorry," the clerk said. "This man just ordered our last
bunch." The desperate customer turned to me and begged, "May
I please have those roses?"
"What happened?" I asked. "Did you forget your wedding
anniversary?"
"It's even worse than that," he confided. "I crashed my
wife's hard drive!"
