TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
Where is Genghis Khan buried?
Why has it been so difficult to find the tomb?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
How did New York's Times Square get its name?
Times Square was named for the building (circa 1903) that
served as headquarters for the New York Times. The building
used a band of electric lights at the top of the building to
transmit the news.
Who was Genghis Khan?
"Genghis Khan" was actually a title meaning "universal
ruler" that Temujin, ruler of Mongolia and conqueror of
China, took for himself. Genghis Khan (c. 1162-1227)
destroyed the Muslim empire of Khwarizm and raided both
Russia and Persia.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!
with Dr. Rhoberta Shaler
---------------------
You Need A Little Willingness
To Handle Your Anger!
Every person who has ever lived has experienced anger. The
capacity to become angry is an impressive gift which comes
as part of our biological inheritance, but, what we do with
our anger makes all the difference.
Anger itself is a state of physical readiness. Our body
goes through preparation for action-more adrenaline is
secreted, more sugar is released, our heart beats faster,
our blood pressure rises, we are alert! Anger is designed
as a biological mechanism which operates in the interest of
physical survival. We do have a body, after all!
Because anger is a state of arousal, readiness and power, it
is dangerous. When it is mishandled, all kinds of problems
can be created. Anger used destructively can do extensive
damage. Our bodies react to anger but how we choose to use
our anger is learned. The good news, then, is that anger
can be brought under control by our thinking, our
decision-making.
If we consider anger as a response to our fear, the first
step in identifying our anger would be to ask ourselves what
is frightening to us, or, what we are hurt or frustrated by.
Awareness is the key to changing our response because, as
soon as we discover the "problem" we can formulate a
strategy to deal with it-if we are willing.
The expression of anger is one we most often read about in
the newspapers or have vividly recalled for us on
television. Maybe we even have some vivid memories in our
own lives of anger unleashed! The behavior related to anger
is learned. Fortunately this learning can be erased and new
learning can take its place. Often it is best to get some
help with the new learning-to both erase the old and rewrite
the new, and, to support the new program until it is fully
working for us. Just like software!
Anger and aggression are different. Aggression is one way
anger can be expressed, however, there are many other
ways-and most of them are better! Anger can be expressed
constructively. To choose constructive ways to express
anger, we must make full use of our capacity to think. When
we choose appropriate ways to express our anger, we
significantly increase the amount of satisfaction we get
from living. I feel sure that very few of us get any more
than very short-term satisfaction from expressing our anger
aggressively, violently or abusively.
New ways can be learned and they give us a new lease on
life. Learning to communicate our most sensitive feelings is
important. John Powell says in "The Secret of Staying in
Love" that the genius of good communication is to be totally
kind and totally honest at the same time. At some levels of
anger it may be worthwhile to express yourself directly to
the person at the time. At other levels it may be best not
to share your anger at the moment. Sometimes our bodies are
so charged up, our mouth misfires! This does not help. It
is our anger. We own it. We must decide what to do with
and about it. Giving it away usually does not help.
When we gain mastery over our anger, we gain some mastery
over our lives. So learn to transform your anger into a
significant resource for constructive living. Learn to
identify and acknowledge your anger, handle it, and release
it appropriately and healthily. It is life-affirming and
energizing. All it takes to begin is a little willingness.

The Make Up Of Your Body And
How It Functions
PART 9 of 9
Just as police are trained to detect counterfeit money, you
too can benefit from understanding your true and healthy
body. Once you recognize good ways to keep it well and
"empowered", you will want to find ways to improve all
aspects of it.
And don't get caught in the exercise or low carb/ high
carb.low fat/ high fat traps. Get yourself some really good
books, study the author's approach to nutrition, exercise,
and health ingeneral, and see how it feels. If you are
uncomfortable, leave it alone. If it feels right, try it for a
specific length of time and then evaluate your results. You
are on the first step to taking back control: learning what
works and what doesn't. And keep a sharp eye out for
additives and other chemicals. (I am still amazed at the
inaccurate statements on fats and additives, and especially
artificial sweeteners.) Now that you know what your body
is made of and how it functions at optimum efficiency, you
want to help it along so you can enjoy many years of
healthy living.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

"Honey, something is up! I am not certain what it is yet
but I think there is another group forming that wants to
overthrow the government again. Man, I wish these people
would stop this foolishness, at least until they were better
educated."
"I know. I sense the same thing. Maybe we should go see
tonight. We can find them and watch what's happening. That
way maybe we can discourage or confuse them and shut it down
before it really gets a start."
"That's okay by me. Shall we?" Billy was already
standing.
The pair of them touched down deep within the jungle.
The night creatures were out and looking for food. The
couple remained invisible because they wanted to see what
was happening.
They moved forward to follow noises they had heard in
front of them. Cautiously they made their way to a point
where the jungle hid them but they had a view of a camp.
There were several buildings in this camp. The buildings
were thatched grass huts.
Out in what was a common area there was a fire circle.
To one side was a large group, a hundred or more, of what
looked like teens. They were dressed in loin clothes and had
feathers in their hair. They were being pushed, literally,
around by four toughs with guns.
In front of the teens by some 30 feet was a small group
of men. All but one were dressed in some kind of uniform
gear. None of the clothes fit and all were filthy. It
appeared to be gear taken off dead soldiers they had
recently killed.
The one who was dressed different was made up like a
chief. He was painted from head to foot and carried a staff
he appeared quite willing to use on the heads of those he
was looking at.
Over to one side were a group of six drummers. They had
assorted sizes of drums and were awaiting the signal to
begin.
Night was nearly on them. The head man stepped forward
and began a talk.
"We are oppressed. The government is mean and takes our
food. The soldiers come and rape our women. We shall kill
these men. What you say?"
He waited for a group "Yea" from the teens. Being
prodded from behind by the men with guns they uttered a weak
one.
"I can't hear you!" came the word from the head man.
A couple shots rang out from behind the group of young
men and suddenly they yelled "YEA!"
The head man was smart enough to know he was not going
to get the cooperation of these teens by logic, by words, by
common sense. He had to arouse their passion and fear. The
gunshot so near behind them was a start. The head man and
his crew had indoctrinated many such groups already. They
had this ceremony worked down to a fine art.
He nodded to the drummers. They began a slow almost
silent cadence.
"You will kill these evil men and together we will be
the government. If you go into battle to save your people
you need to be invincible. I have the secret that will
protect you. No bullet from a soldiers gun will come near
you. You cannot be killed. You are all powerful. You will
dance this night and I will make the medicine that will make
you powerful."
He nodded again and two of the gun toting men went into
one of the buildings and brought out a huge pot. The pot
must have been able to hold 20 gallons.
Then the headman nodded to the drummers. They increased
the cadence and the volume.
"Dance" came the order.
Some of the young men began to slowly move with the
rhythm but it was clear this was not a volunteer thing. Four
shots rang out from behind them. That galvanized them to
action and they all danced as if they meant it.
The prepared firewood was not lit, but had been prepared
with gasoline being thrown on it. Plus there were several
small cans of gunpowder placed strategically within the
"teepee".
The headman began to dance with the drums. He didn't
join the group but danced where he was.
All the while he was shouting profanities at the young
men about the government soldiers they were going to kill.
By the time 15 minutes had passed he was really into his
work and his shouts were becoming louder and more pointed.
Then, on signal the drums stopped. The headman was going
to light the fire. But he wanted it to appear as if he had
the magic.
Earlier, before he had stopped the drums, he had taken
and held a mouthful of gasoline. and he held a lit torch.
Now, holding his arms wide he spit a stream of gasoline
toward the fire and brought the torch to his mouth just as
he was spitting out the last drops.
The gasoline caught and rapidly sped toward the prepared
fire. Kaaawoooompf. The fire lit with such an explosion the
teens cowered. They had never seen anything like this. This
man had the black magic for sure.
The fire, because of the soaking of gasoline gave off
instant heat. The wood was burning everywhere at once. The
teens had not seen a fire like this.
The headman held up his hands. This magic I give to you.
You shall have the power of the gods. No man shall touch you
and all women will give you love. You are all powerful.
Before this night is over you shall be God."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Garble: Where does the word "garble" come from?
From the Arabic word for "sieve" - ghirbal. At first
"garble" meant "to sort out" ans was applied to the
selection and sorting out of individual passages from a
man's writings. But the persons who made the excerpts often
edited and changed the context considerably; and so
"garbled" came to mean "mixed and mutilated."

Once a year, the collectors of antique tents in Germany get
together for a rally. Last year, the organizers decided to
hold it in Meinz.
Unfortunately, the local burghers took a dim view of so
great an influx of tourists ruining their turf with tent
pegs. The citizens opposed to the rally organized themselves
so efficiently that they even had an anthem:
. . . "Let Old and Quaint Tents Be Forgot and Never Brought
to Meinz!"
