Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby

You Need Motivation!

A lady is throwing a party for her granddaughter, and had
gone all out... a caterer, band, and a hired clown. Just
before the party started, two bums showed up looking for a
handout. Feeling sorry for the bums, the woman told them
that she would give them a meal if they will help chop some
wood for her. Gratefully, they headed to the rear of the
house.

The guests arrived, and all was going well with the children
having a wonderful time. But the clown hadn't shown up.
After a half an hour, the clown finally called to report
that he was stuck in traffic, and would probably not make
the party at all.

The woman was very disappointed and unsuccessfully tried to
entertain the children herself. She happened to look out the
window and saw one of the bums doing cartwheels across the
lawn. She watched in awe as he swung from tree branches, did
midair flips, and leaped high in the air. She spoke to the
other bum and said, "What your friend is doing is absolutely
marvelous. I have never seen such a thing. Do you think your
friend would consider repeating this performance for the
children at the party? I would pay him $50!"

The other bum says, "Well, I dunno. Let me ask him - HEY
WILLIE! FOR $50, WOULD YOU CHOP OFF ANOTHER TOE?"

It has been said that all of life is a stage and we are all
actors thereon.

Some are more motivated than others and for some of the
strangest reasons. I do not suggest you go cutting off body
parts to get yourself motivated. However, I do suggest you
find a real good reason for doing what you are doing.

You may want a million dollars, you may not. To reach your
success you will have to do some work, rely on the forces of
the universe, be inspired and put in late nights. Some of
that will be away from your family and all of it will mean
you will have to sacrifice some "good times" to get what you
are after. You better mean business.

Don't get half way, tire, then quit. Recharge your
motivation. Have a good long look at why you want your
objective. If the reason is sound, if your purpose is right,
recharging can be easy.

Some goals come quickly. Some take years. Whatever your
objective you are doing it for a reason. Discover that
reason and that is your motivation. If your reason is
founded on a whim, with no real substance or meaning, your
motivation will likely be weak and failure will show up the
first time it is tested.

If your reason is "to the core rock solid", if you mean
business, if you refuse to accept alternatives, then it is
likely that whatever obstacles you reach, you will overcome.

It is for that reason, too, we should remember that success
is in the journey, not in attaining the destination. A lot
of folks have a hard time understanding that point.

The point means we are to be happy as we proceed. We should
watch our progress unfold and take delight in each small
step. We should be "human" all the way and not so obsessed
we become obnoxious or arrogant.

Much success comes from helping those around us become
successful. Being there to do that, realizing that point,
remaining approachable, will sometimes bring your greatest
leaps forward. Enjoy the ride, the trip, the journey. The
destination will prove to be an anti-climax. When you get
there I hope and trust your new objectives, long ago
determined, will take you past the objective, keep you
active and full of fun.

Find your reason. Make it a solid one, one that will
overcome the challenges that lie before you. Do so and you
will most certainly succeed at what you are doing.

You Need Motivation!

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

Research Changes Lives

One of nature's secrets is that it is always expanding
and growing and maturing and then dying. This is our
life, too, and we need to recognize that this is normal
and reliable. We see it in our gardens and our fruit tress,
our schools and our health. We plan for the changes
and we count on them…we anticipate them. As human
beings, we are not meant to be the same all the time - but
for many, a change is horrible. I don't want to discuss
change per se, but I do want to relate it to ideas and
specifically to research. Our health is a very real, personal,
and protected part of us. We believe certain people
when they tell us things. And we build our lives around
our understanding and perception of that viewpoint.

However, because we personally don't "embrace" change,
when we hear something contrary to our belief, we go
slightly mad and accuse others of misleading us. What
I want to bring to your attention with this is that research
by its very nature HAS to produce new ideas (Change)
and thus uncertainty, until it's tested adequately.

So new research findings on things like cancer, arthritis,
cholesterol, or heart disease are all at the "mercy" of
perception: your point of belief and your willingness to
think "outside the box". So if I told you that instead of
taking a cholesterol-lowering drug, you might just need
one mineral product, or that by taking one enzymatic
product, you might be able to have your name removed
from the heart transplant list, would you believe?
(BTW, this is totally doable.) My point is that new research
and new tools and better application of our methodologies,
could easily add years to your life. The question is: do you
want to open your mind to the possibilities that your beliefs
might be challenged.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

As before, he was met at the door and ushered in to sit
in front of the elders.

"The village is concerned you will turn the children
against us. They think you do black magic and will control
us to do what you want with us." The elders stopped
speaking, waiting for Billy's reaction.

"I thought they might think that way. Yet when one
really thinks about that one should ask 'He can do that
without asking our permission, so why would he ask?"

"That is right. We have asked that question. We have no
answer. You say Miss Sonora, Hemno, Kenyata and Mombudo have
this power?"

"Yes, and they have had this power for some years now."

"They have not told us."

"Would you have believed them? Has Sonora not provided
you with clean drinking water, yet you continue to treat her
like she were some evil spirit. You let your fears control
your thinking rather than looking at situations with clear
heads. You do not know this power so you pronounce it bad.
Why would you not pronounce it good? Further, Sonora has
many times put down groups that would come into this village
with guns to kill, harm and control you. Yet you still treat
her like bad medicine."

"Some of this we do not know. Yet, you are right. Why do
we not pronounce this power as good. It did serve us. The
family has done nothing to harm us in any way. Moreover,
when we call on them to help they come without asking for
anything. They are kind. I do not know why we pronounce the
power bad."

"May I offer a suggestion as to how we might solve this
issue?"

"What do you suggest?"

"Why don't we have all the village sit in council? Let
them ask questions of me, Sonora, Hemno, Kenyata and
Mombudo. Let the people judge. That way everything we decide
on will be in the open. There will be no secrets for the
village to fear. It is possible they would want us to teach
the children. It would certainly be better for the children
if they had their parents support and that support cannot
come out of fear for it will keep the children from fully
learning."

"That good idea. We meet here at high sun, two suns from
today. The whole village will be here. You may now bring
Miss Sonora, Hemno, Kenyata and Mombudo. We will ask
questions of all of them."

"Until two suns." Billy got up, bowed and turned to
leave, then stopped. "May I address council once more?"

"What would you have?"

"I built my hut. I thank you for your permission. I take
your rules most seriously. I would like to invite each of
you over to sit at my fire and sip beverage with me. Thank
you." With that Billy retreated.

"So what was the verdict?" Sonora was on him like a
dirty shirt when she saw Billy returning. She wanted to know
what the council decided.

"They want the whole village to meet two suns from now.
They want all of us to come, answer questions and discuss
with them what we want to do. They did not really think you
had this power. They now are wondering if they have been
looking on it wrongly. They have been reacting as if it is
bad. They are now thinking maybe they should look upon it as
good."

"Wow! You really have impact Mr. Hendricks. I'm proud of
you."

"I also asked the elders to come and sit around my fire,
that we might sip a beverage together. I think some of them
will come, so maybe we should sit around my fire for a few
nights."

"Good idea. I'll tell Mom and Dad. Hemno will come
anyway. He likes you."

"You see that shows he's a man of much wisdom." Billy
laughed.

Sonora hit him on the arm and chased him to her family
hut.

"What you do? Call her a name?"

"No, Mombudo. She's just cantankerous today." Billy
ducked as Sonora took another swing. He was laughing as she
sat on his back and beat him. She was laughing too.

"Don't listen to him Papa. He's teasing me today. I'm
going to stop talking to him." She looked at Billy who by
now had another smile on his face. "Don't you say it, Mr."

She knew Billy was going to say "It's about time" in
answer to her last remark.

They explained that it would be good to sit at Billy's
fire tonight because of Billy's meeting in the lodge house.

The family agreed and moved over to the new hut to enjoy
the evening.

Just as Billy expected, a couple elders came over to his
hut. Seeing the whole family there they nearly backed away
and were about to leave.

"No, no. Come. It is just the family. You know everyone
here. You are most welcome. Please come, sit."

The two elders were persuaded. They sat, and Billy
manifested a fruit beverage for them. They began to sip. The
drink was very good, but as they sipped they wanted more.
The more they drank the more they sat wondering and
fidgeting. The cups were showing no decrease in
beverage.

"Fear not. When you are done the cups will be empty. I
caused them to be continually full until you set them down.
Then they will be empty."

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Inaugurate: What is the reason we say we "Inaugurate" a man
when he is installed in office?

The term is from the Latin inaugurare which means "to take
omens from the flight of birds". No Roman official was
installed without the approval of the birds.

HA! HA! HA!

A steam locomotive passing through Poland one night was
running low on coal. The engineer said to his fireman,
"We're coming to a town, let's stop and send the porter out
to get more coal. Can you see the name of the town on the
depot sign?"

The fireman replied, "It appears to be Danzig in the dark."

And the engineer shouted, "Buy coal, Porter!"
