As always and ever, the internet is changing the way
we do things. In California they are noticing a
phenomenon in the real estate business. Research
has shown that home buyers are spending much more
time on the net doing their shopping and ending up
spending much less time with a realtor to get the
job done.
They have found that 56% and more buyers are
spending time on the net searching for their home.
That is a considerable jump up from 28% in 2000.
The study also finds that while the internet buyer
spends up to nearly 6 weeks in the process of buying
a house, they spend far less time with the realtor,
namely 1.9 weeks as opposed to 7.1 weeks for
the non internet buyer.
Wow! Things are achangin'.
Elsewhere the T.V. folks are beginning to be
concerned about advertising revenues. It appears
that with the abundance of channels the audiences
are increasingly fragmented and advertisers are
wondering if their message is getting through. Add
to that the fact that the internet can and will carry
TV, the entire scene is changing.
On the subject of television it is expected that by the
year 2008 over 60% of all television sales will be
digital TVs. Technology is changing everything.
And finally, the Supreme Court has ruled that common
sense and filters implemented by parents and teachers
is the most effective way of keeping kids away from
porn sites. Laws are not only ineffective, but almost
impossible to police.

What If...Reflecting On Chemicals Going Into Your Body

As I mentioned previously, people don't contact us unless
they want to understand their negative health condition. In
our conversation I often ask if they are taking any "meds". I am
never surprised now as to what medications people do take.
What still surprises me is that they don't feel they should have
any side effects!
In one recent conversation, a lady told me how very careful she
was with her food intake: no prepared foods, no junk foods, no
preservatives, no canned goods, no alcohol, and no smoking.
Then she told me the drugs she was on. It turns out that she is
on three different pills for high blood pressure, more for
cholesterol, plus something to "enhance her thyroid" and several
other "natural" vitamins. She had never ever connected drugs and
side effects or complications! An added concern for me privately
was that both her blood pressure and her cholesterol
measurements were within "normal range". She was given
these as a preventative measure.
In nursing we are taught that 2 drugs interact and the third
will be prescribed to handle the side effects of the other two.
It might be interesting for you to realise that the Physician's
Desk Reference (PDR) has NINE single-spaced pages of drugs
whose possible side effects include tinnitus. She contacted us
because she had severe tinnitus!
I find it fascinating when people tell me their symptoms and I
then ask if they are any meds. They often forget to tell me all
of them, thinking they would not have any connection with their
immediate problem. They forget to tell me about their meds for
their anxiety and sleeplessness. Then I ask how long they have
been on those. Most people have been on them for years! And that
goes for both men and women. I am intrigued as to why someone
would need them long-term. I believe we mature and learn new
coping methods. Our lives change with time. Incidentally many
drugs loose their effectiveness over time. If you are on some
sort of long-term meds, you need to be seen regularly and tested
for drug potency. I heard one doctor tell his radio audience
that doctors now prescribe small doses of several drugs instead
of a large dose of one!

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Well, look who is here" came a voice from behind
Mae.
It was a voice Mae well recognized. She jumped up
and went to give Eloise a hug. "Hello, Missy! How
are you? I haven't seen you in a while."
"Hi Mae. It is good to see you. Enjoying your
travels? How is Sue doing?" Eloise was full of
questions.
"We're both fine and loving it. China is a
wonderful land. You should come join us for a
while, you'll love it. Bring Mazunta, too, he'll
love it." Mae was pretty enthusiastic about her
and Sues journey.
"Tell me about it, or have you been telling Pam
and Dave about it already? said Eloise.
"Well I was just starting. You came just in time."
answered Mae.
Mae went on to fill in every detail of the trip
her and Susan Miles were having in China. She
became more animated as the story went on. The
grandchildren, sitting next to her, were
enthralled, mostly because of her enthusiasm.
When Mae was finished the children wanted more.
All in all it was a pretty exciting story.
Everyone loved it.
By the time Mae had concluded her story it was
time to start thinking about supper. She had taken
a long time in the telling.
Eloise excused herself to get back to her place
and get supper for Maz and AliAnn.
Following supper David took Pam, the kids and Mae
down to show them the new carving he was working
on. It was of some soldiers. He had been given a
photo of soldiers in a pose that the City of
Pinehill wanted carved for it's Memorial Day
cenotaph. David had been working on it for some
time now.
Then they went to the beach and just sat to watch
the river.
"You know, I think I want to get back to China. If
you guys don't mind I think I'll call Susan, and
have her join us for the fire tonight and then we'll
leave tomorrow."
"Gee, Mom, you just got here. But then I guess
you'll be back too, won't you. Whatever you decide
is fine with us" said Pam.
With that, Mae closed her eyes and concentrated on
Susan. "Susan, come down here and join us in the
fire tonight. Then we can leave for China
tomorrow. How's that?" she thought.
In seconds she received "That's a good idea. I'll
be there later. Maybe I'll bring Sam and Alewka
too."
Mae told the kids the answer she received and all
was well.
"So, Pam, how are your folks. I'll bet they were
glad to see you and the kids?" asked Mae.
"They were. They kept telling me they don't see
enough of me. Unfortunately they still have this
thing against higher law. They don't understand it
and I'm not sure they want to. It has not yet
dawned on them I, too, now practice higher law."
"Be patient, Pam. They'll come around. Don't
forget they have a vested interest. Have you
invited them down here to stay a while?"
"I have, Mom. They don't think they would like it.
If you remember, they were down here once for a
couple days, but everything was so new I'm not
sure they liked it.
"But that's my point. A second trip often shows
them things they missed and often they begin to
enjoy being here. It might be worth a try."
"I have suggested that, Mom. I don't know what
they will think of it" said David.

Life's Funny Little Realities
Perhaps you know why women over fifty don't have babies. They
would put them down somewhere and forget where they left them.

Patrick was spotted driving along the highway at a steady
speed, when he suddenly indicated right and pulled off onto
the shoulder. He quickly jumped out of the car and opened the
trunk. From a large bag, he produced a party hat, streamers, a
bottle of lemonade, sandwiches and a cake.
After eating the food and drinking the lemonade, he launched
into a little Irish jig. The whole proceedings lasted about fifteen
minutes, after which he got back in his car and drove off.
Curious, the police followed him at a distance and half an
hour later, they saw him stop and repeat the whole procedure.
This was too much for the officers, so they decided to check
him out.
"Can we ask you the reason for all the stops and the food,
drink and Irish jigs?" one of the officers asked.
"Well, sir," explained Patrick, "I'm on the company's outing."
"But you're the only one here," argued the officer.
"Yes, I know," replied Patrick. "I'm self-employed!"
