Good news folks. It looks like pop-ups are on their way out.
At least all the majors are banning pop-up ads in favor of
getting direct to a web page. Let's hope that happens
everywhere. That way we can get out purposeful surfing
done without interruption.
Microsoft, Google and Yahoo are in a race for the daisies
regarding search engines. Microsoft seems bent on
dominating the marketplace here, much like it's
overpowering presence elsewhere. They have just
launched a new search service that, while remaining
based on the Yahoo relationship, has excluded the paid
ads. It is apparently, distancing Yahoo and Microsoft.
Microsoft says it will cause searches to produce results
50% faster, yet it is said to lack many of the features
mature search engines have.

Cisco Router Breaks Record
Yesterday, Cisco's Carrier Routing System (CRS-1) was
given the Guinness Book of World Records' honor of
being the Internet router with the highest capacity ever
made. CRS-1 has a routing throughput of 92 terabits, or
92 trillion bits per second, and is the first networking
technology ever to be recognized by Guinness World
Records. CNET's News.com explains that the capacity
of CRS-1 is such that it could download the entire printed
collection of the Library of Congress in 4.6 seconds,
which would take an ordinary dial-up connection
82 years to accomplish.

And finally statistics show that the downloading of music,
legal or otherwise, has not hurt record sales. According
to the latest report from Nielsen SoundScan, record sales
were up 7% in the first half of this year over the first half
of 2003, growing from 285.9 million units to 305.7 million
units, respectively.

Rebound
Recognizing That Too Much Of A Good
Thing Might Not Continue To Be Good.
PART 1 of 3
The term "rebound" has several meanings, but it's allergy time
and I want to bring something to your attention. Did you know
that taking a dose of your nasal decongestant is very helpful,
but taking more than PRESCRIBED doses could be
counter-productive? Yes, that's true. And few people understand
this. We all assume it's good to do something that clears up our
sinuses...So a bit more wouldn't be harmful, and probably be
beneficial. We also believe that over the counter medications
aren't really medications. So you rationalize that there is no
harm in taking them...and as they are harmless, but work well,
taking more isn't a problem...Right? Wrong! Taking more could do
one or two things...make the situation worse or make the whole
effort useless. I am speaking mainly about nasal decongestants
and allergy products...those products that help you breathe when
your nose and eyes are irritated and you just can't stand it any
longer. So you reach for the sprays or the tablets. In essence
"rebound" means taking MORE of a good thing and thinking it will
be even better and more helpful. But there are other meanings to
"rebound" So let's work on a several of the other definitions.
(And there are still a few more.)
You could be "rebounding" from or recovering from an illness. It
could also mean the sudden retraction of a muscle after it has
been in a certain position for a while. It's what happens when
you cut elastic after it's been stretched. It "pops" back into
its original position.
Another rebound definition could be happening with your
abdomen. If you have ever had appendicitis, you will recall
the "tapping" the doctor did on your extremely sensitive abdomen
and you really wanted them to stop! The doctor puts pressure
on the abdomen and the release of this pressure causes pain.
This is a form of unwanted (involuntary) rigidity and is diagnosed
as "rebound tenderness". This is a diagnostic test and tells the
doctor that this requires immediate medical attention. Surgery
may be necessary. This can be caused by an injury to the
abdomen (car accident or fall), acute appendicitis (inflammation
and infection of that tiny piece of intestinal tag hanging off the
bowel). It can be caused by peritonitis (infection of the inside
wall of the abdomen), gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine)
perforation (any number of accidents types or traumas) and
cholecystitis (an inflammation and possible infection of your
gallbladder).

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Shing Li and Psong did not want Mae and Susan to
leave, but they knew, inside, they would and
should.
As Mae left she was careful to ensure the
shield she had put up before was still working.
She knew the girls would be protected in this
house from anyone wanting to do harm.
"Funny village" said Susan. "They are nice
people, but they sure have an hierarchial order
they won't budge on."
"That is mostly because they are so far away
from communication with the outside world, Sue.
They remain tribal in instinct. There are many
countries like that, even today, and they have a
long way to go until they come into the
realization that freedom, equality and justice are
more important than power, greed and avarice"
answered Mae.
The two of them walked down the road toward
the village and waved to people as they passed.
The villagers did not know they were leaving, so
there was no fuss made.
They walked past the water wheel and past the
rice paddies until they slowly began to leave the
village behind.
Turning, from their position on a high hill in
the road, they looked back and could barely see
the village nestled snugly in amongst the
mountains. Thinking in a tribal sense, Mae thought
they had certainly chosen their location well. The
village could only be attacked from one side, and
that way all their defense forces could be
marshalled to that one side.
Turning once more Mae and Sue said goodbye to
the village and the area and began to move on.
The countryside was broad and flat at this
point. They had mountains on one side but the
other side, they could see for miles. There were
trees and bush here and there, but from this high
position, they could look upon the land sloping
downward from there and see a great distance.
The day was yet young and the ladies
energized. They both looked up to see the sun, and
inside themselves they sent a thank you to their
Maker for offering them such an abundant life..
If you can believe it, in this land of so many
people, they walked this entire day without seeing
anyone.
They did notice the stream that flowed from
the mountains surrounding Shing Li's village
joined up with other streams and now, beside them
there was a rushing river of water. It was boiling
up over the rocks, frothing white, and falling
back down into the stream and carrying on down
river. It did not look very deep.
The ladies decided to walk down to the river
and bath their feet. It was here they really felt
their staves were useful. While walking all this
distance their staves had become a normal part of
them and neither could envision themselves without
one.
They crawled down the rock strewn banks of the
river until finally they reached the stream.
Taking off their shoes, the each put a toe into
the water. Then they removed it fast. "That water
is cold" said Susan.
"Wow! I'll say it is."
Eventually they became accustomed to the cold
and were both standing up to mid calf in the
water. Their legs were becoming numb from the
cold, and Mae could feel her heart beating faster,
just trying to keep her legs warm.
Sitting down on some rocks, now out of the
water, they dried their feet and put on their
shoes and socks again.
Susan manifested a cup and each took a long
drink of the cold clear river water.
"I suppose we should have a bite to eat. It
looks near noon" said Susan.
"You bet. I'm hungry" and with that Mae
manifested a light lunch, one that would provide
nourishment without filling them so full they
would become lethargic.
"You know, we are still in south China. We
must start to head in a north or at least a
northerly direction. One day we will arrive at a
big city and find out where we are, but until then
we should keep in a northerly route" Mae offered.
"I think you're right, we'll fork off this
road on the first road that appears to be heading
north."

Well the holidays are supposed to be over and I'm supposed
to get to work. I am sluggish about that. We had a wonderful

Life's Funny Little Realities
Time may be a great healer, but it's also a lousy beautician.

The Chaplain had been assigned to the ship and he noticed
how much grief the cooks (Mess Specialists) caught from the
crew and how they gave back as much as they got. He talked
to the Food Service Officer and decided to talk to the cooks
and get them to be more cheerful when they served the meals
to the sailors coming down the line. A smile and a cheerful
comment, a willingness to serve them will reap great
benefits he told them.
After his pep talk the Food Service Officer and the Chaplain
stood back and watched the food being served.
A new sailor aboard walked down the line but he didn't like
anything he saw so he just carried his tray down the line
till he got to the desert section. He picked up a saucer
containing a large piece of chocolate cake.
The Mess Specialist looked at him and asked, "Is that all
you're gonna eat?"
The sailor said, "Yea, the rest of it don't look too appetizing."
The Mess Specialist smiled and said, "Well, in that case
would you like two pieces of cake??"
The Chaplain smiled and hit the Food Service Officer in the
ribs, "I told you my talk did them some good!"
The kid said, "Yea man, I'd appreciate it."
The cook leaned over and cut the piece of cake on *his* tray
in *half*..."I hope you enjoy them," he said as he walked
back into the galley, laughing.
