Lots happening. However, my news sources also report
on business issues like balance sheets and projections
and I refrain from putting that in thePEBBLE.
What is of interest though, is that Apple has sold it's
1,000,000th song through iTunes. ( see article next )
iTunes Hits 100 Million
On Sunday, Apple's iTunes store sold its 100 millionth
song, a few months after the company had hoped to reach
that goal, on the service's one-year anniversary.
Nevertheless, the milestone is being celebrated by
Apple, as the digital music store and the iPod music
player continue to be the biggest names in the industry.
The 100 millionth song was downloaded by Kevin Britten,
20, of Hays, Kansas, who received a phone call from
Apple CEO Steve Jobs, as well as a new Powerbook
computer, an iPod, and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes
songs. The song he downloaded was "Somersault
(Dangermouse mix)."
It seems that from nowhere this industry grew to this size
in just over a year. That's pretty remarkable. As usual
Apple has put on it's "forward thinking cap" and started
entirely new things. The innovation that comes out of
Apple has been leading the computer industry for years.
They create it and others like Microsoft copy and try to
compete. I know not how and why Apple attracts so
many original thinkers. It is worth investigation.
Elsewhere it seems politicos are finally using the internet
and email to do much of their campaigning and fund raising.
Reports are coming in that some are spending more
money on internet advertising than they are in conventional
advertising. They are also raising a great deal of money
as a result of email solicitation. I was wondering when the
political community was going to discover the incredible reach
of this internet tool.

and cholesterol control) may help prevent aneurysms or

suspect something isn't right, go to a doctor and have it checked
out. Time is very important and can make a huge difference!
Again as always, lifestyle is crucial. Start eating a Mediterranean
diet with lots of olive oil and fresh fruits and vegetables. And
make a commitment to eliminate less than healthy foods from
your life. Get an exercise program started AFTER you have
been checked out by a medical specialist if you suspect any of
these symptoms. Don't do this on your own. But if you feel you
are healthy and need to change your lifestyle, find some reliable
information and start. It all begins with one commitment and
one action.

and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,

only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.

Riata, Miguele's second daughter, had
established an orphanage where she looked after a
large group of street orphans. She had encountered
many obstacles to her mission, mostly promoted by
greed of city and church officials.
Now, however, all her group of orphans had
learned higher law and no longer required her
presence to hold the orphanage together. She had
been managing in absentia anyway. The church had
commissioned her shooting and since then she only
appeared at the orphanage periodically to help the
kids make decisions.
She was very pleased at how the kids had
managed in her absence. Now they were thinning out
and spreading all over the country, and all over
the world.
At the time Riata was shot there were over a
hundred kids. Today that was weaned down to less
than twenty of the original group she worked with,
but was bolstered by new children drifting in off
the streets. The total at the orphanage now was
just over sixty.
Riata noted the original kids, living by
higher law, were showing and teaching the younger
newcomers the way. It was truly quite a project
and love alone made it happen. If you were a
street kid orphan in Matto Grosso today you were
more fortunate than all the rest of Matto Grosso's
citizens.
Riata was observing that it seems pain is
required for all growth. Any meaningful learning
by these children certainly comes from the fact
that they are orphaned and have undergone much
pain and fear in their young lives. It focuses
their attention on those things that provide food,
clothing, shelter, and most of all peace and love.
That is why they respond so quickly to the
tenets of higher law. The know first hand what
happens when they don't use the law the way it is
supposed to be used.
Riata was pleased. Her students were now
spreading out over the face of earth aiding
mankind in ways mankind will never know.
So too, for Oomano's charges. Oomano is
Riata's older sister. She stayed at home with her
folks, because her father, Miguele, always brought
home any street waifs he found. Oomano, living by
higher law, was able to help with the work load.
She gave them schooling everyday, and always
pressed toward the children learning and using
higher law.
At her wedding, when Jesus came and
removed all impediment to all present learning and
using higher law, Oomano's job was over. She would
be starting a new life with her new husband.
Between the two girls they directly affected
the lives of well over a hundred and sixty
children. These children are now moving about in
earth as genuine sources of help for all of whom
they contacted.
So what are Romano and Oomano going to do now
there is no more need for their work at her
parents home?
The couple were planning on moving into a home
of their own a short distance from Miguele and
Abetta's.
Matto Grosso was built on the Amazon river and
was well treed. But it was built on a bit of a
plain that stretched out for over a hundred miles
away from the river. The further from the river
you got the fewer trees grew.
The city had a type of organization, but one
that grew out of need rather than plan. The
streets appeared only where people traveled by
foot, donkey or cart. There was no planned design
only a pattern fostered by peoples living.
The consequence of such growth is that in some
quarters you had city utilities like water and
sewer, but in most of the city they did not exist.
So when you got away from city center you were
less likely to enjoy the benefits of
modernization. The heat was so intense there was
little need for heat in the homes, although most
had a small fireplace that would take the evening
chill off.
Houses were made of adobe brick, which kept
the incessant heat away from the interior of the
houses.
Electricity could come in overhead and be
hooked up whenever a house was built. So the only
thing folks had to do was to take care of their
water and sewer needs.
Most did this by drilling a well or making a
deal with the neighbor for water. Sewage was taken
care of by having an outdoor "biffy" for toilet
matters and a big hole in the ground filled with
cans, rocks and other matter, for their gray water
needs.
If a house had no electricity, the occupants
used kerosene lamps.
