Listening Works!

"Ah, my son...it is what has brought great nations together.
It has made the world a smaller place in which to live. It has
inspired men of worth to work endless hours. It will some day
enable men to span the universe and light years of travel
will soon become mere seconds in time."
"And that, my master, is fate?"
"Oh, FATE! I thought you said FREIGHT."
I find this joke to be too typical. I know we all have a time
getting children to listen but you would think that by the time
we are adults we would have developed good listening skills.
Not so. Look around you and watch peoples listening skills.
You will find well over half the people you deal with in a day
have very poor listening abilities.
That is the largest single reason why we have communications
errors, troubles and problems. Even though we might have a
common language by no means can we communicate. Have
a good university education in english? Even that will not help
because communication takes two people. One can deliver
the message, but the other must pick it up and absorb it.
Too often we are trained from youth not to listen. Too many
parents simply let kids go without spending the time to train
them how to listen. What a disservice to the child.
Listening is the greater part of communication, and I can think
of no other single asset one can have for personal protection
against those who would use you wrongly.
Listening on a one to one basis is done as much with the
eyes as it is with the ears. Look directly at the person
speaking to you.
Stop thinking of anything else while speaking and listening
to someone. You are not listening to a person speaking if
you are busy coming up with a rebuttal.
Listen until a person has stopped speaking before you
commence. And when you are speaking to someone, look
them in the eye. Nothing will convince your audience of
your sincerity more than direct eye contact.
Remember too, if you are following the advice of spiritual
masters and seeking truths you will have to learn to listen
to what you are being told from the inside. Nowhere will
you find more power and peace than developing this
ability.

Windows 2000 enables you to undo more than just your last action.
It keeps a stack, or list, of changes. You can undo your changes
in the reverse order in which they were executed by repeatedly
clicking Undo. If you right-click the right pane, you will see
Undo, along with your last action, as a choice on the context
menu. For example, if you have just renamed a file, then you will
see Undo Rename on the menu.

Diagnostic Tests For Meniere's Symptoms
PART 2 of 5
"SP" & "AP"measure certain parts of these impulses. The
ratios refer to established "Meniere's" patterns.
Hydrops (Ménières) is suggested when the ratio is
greater than 35%. The SP:AP ratios give definite
numbers which also help in the diagnosis.
Your result:
"She had SP / AP ratio of 0.51 for the right ear and
0.22 for the left ear on her ECoG which means that
Menieres disease is a possibility. ECoG showed an AP
ratio of 0.51 on the right indicating Menieres
disease".
Audiogramis a test that also measures hearing.
When trying to make a diagnosis of Ménières, it is very
helpful to have precise documentation of fluctuating
hearing loss.
Audiometryis the computer technique that records the
faintest levels of sounds that the person can hear. It
is a graph or chart of hearing. It is a relatively
simple way to determine levels of hearing sounds.
Audiometry is particularly helpful in making the
diagnosis of Ménières syndrome. There may be a low
frequency or mixed low and high frequency. A documented
fluctuating hearing loss, especially in the low
frequencies, is very helpful.
Speechthresholds refers to the level at which you can
hear sounds.
"Discrim"refers to discrimination and that means how
well you recognize a spoken word.
Your result: "Audiogram was normal."

took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.

The customs were fascinating and many times
Mae and Sue thought the custom might be good for
North Americans. Sure it would slow down industry
and "money making" but it sure had enormous social
benefits that bonded a society together. There was
much less crime here, for many reasons but this
social pattern was clearly a contributor to safety
and the respect each citizen had for the other.
Mae and Sue were watched wherever they went.
They had the typical North American style of
walking and dress. They could be singled out
of a crowd in an instant. Their walk was more of a
stride compared to the typical small step almost
foot dragging style of the people who lived here.
The people also dressed in clothes made from
similar cloth, all dyed nearly the same color.
Often there was not much difference in the
clothing, except when some military men passed, or
some who were rich. But for the common man there
was little distinction in clothing.
So to see white faces was one thing, but women
dressed in blue jeans and shirts or blouses, maybe
a sweater from time to time, was a sight that
brought attention wherever they went.. No one had
shoes like the ladies either.
It was fine with the ladies that they could be
seen as foreigners. They did not feel they were
stared at for any other reason than anyone who
dressed so differently. Even the military was
"stared" at because of their uniforms, although
they were much more in evidence daily than
people like Mae and Sue.
As they continued to walk the traffic was
slowly decreasing. The further away from the city
they went the less traffic, yet some travelers in
this land were doing much like they were, going
long distances.
Walking was an accepted method of moving from
one place to another in China. Many of the
citizens were not wealthy enough to own cars or
other vehicles. Their needs and wants were simple.
"These people are a humble people. They are
kind and loving. Its no wonder I enjoy being here"
said Susan.
"Its sure a long way from the lifestyle you're
used to. I'm impressed at how you adapted."
"It isn't a chore when you like it" replied
Sue.
"Let's go sit over there under that tree and
rest for a bit. We've been walking all day without
a break. Its almost as if we're on a mission" said
Mae.
The pair of them walked over to the tree Mae
pointed out, and sat down. There they watched the
travelers pass quietly.
One did not pass. He had been coming toward
them, going into the city. When he saw them he
came over, bowed, and pleaded with them to help
him. His family was without food and he was unable
to earn money to look after them.
Mae knew he was supposed to be here. He had
recognized them by their auras, but he did not
realize it. All he knew, or rather, felt, was that
these two ladies were holy ladies and could
somehow help.
"Go home. You will find your family has food.
They will from this day forward. You must work
everyday to help someone in need. As you serve
your fellow man you shall have food, clothing and
shelter. Think not we did this for you. Thank your
Maker for it is your Maker, inside you who will
give you these things." Mae was speaking with the
kind of authority that allowed the man to believe.
He rose and thanked the ladies several times and
then began to run, on his way back home. He knew
all was well, from that moment. And it was.
"That was the first time I have seen that
happen" said Sue. "We were just sitting here and
out of the blue he came walking over here as if on
a mission, as if directed."
"He was. As you know only those with pure
hearts have the vision to know and understand
these things. Inside him he was directed here. I
am glad, for those are the ones I like to help. He
will find all is well upon his return home."
So the day passed. The ladies decided to stay
in that spot for the night, surrounding themselves
with a circle of protection before going to sleep.
Waking, in the early morning they ate and were
on their way even before the sun rose. They were
not alone for many travelers followed the same
rhythm.
The day was again uneventful, except they did
have people come by to petition aid for themselves
or their families. As this happened many would
cheer, scream and holler out how these two women
were holy women and helped them. This did not
please the ladies because it drew crowds and at
one point they had to render themselves invisible
to get a way. Once a mob starts around you they
want a piece of your clothes, your person and are
always after you to give them money. That is the
only way many people think. Unfortunate, but true,
that man cannot see beyond material wealth. They
continue to think that alone will make their
conditions whole. How foolish they are, and in a
mob they soon turn ruthless.
