ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

How many Americans died in the American Revolution?

Unofficial studies of field reports suggest that about
4,500 men were battlefield casualties and more than
6,000 were injured. Illness also claimed a lot of
lives.

When did "The Star-Spangled Banner" become the US
national anthem?

The US Congress adopted the song as the national anthem
in 1931 (following more than two decades of bills and
joint resolutions). Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics
in 1814, during the War of 1812. The melody is taken
from an eighteenth-century drinking song called "To
Anacreon in Heaven." Imagine hitting those high notes
once you've put away a few beers!

The Mystery of Spyware
from eMarketer

Many computer users are not sure about what spyware is,
how it got on their computers, or how to get rid of it.
The one thing most people are sure about when it comes
to spyware is that they don't like it.

Following a lawsuit brought by New York Attorney
General Eliot Spitzer charging that Intermix Media
bundled hidden spyware into its programs and violated
laws prohibiting false advertising and deceptive
business practices, the company decided to settle,
agreeing to pay $7.5 million. Intermix also said —
without admitting any wrongdoing or liability — that it
would permanently discontinue distribution of its
adware, redirect and tool bar programs.

A sigh of relief could be heard across cyberspace.
People hate spyware — even if they don't understand
exactly what it is.

"People are confused," said Larry Ponemon, chairman of
the Ponemon Insititute. "They don't understand spyware.
They don't understand where it comes from or how it is
being used."

According to the new "National Spyware Survey" from
Ponemon, sponsored by Unisys, an overwhelming number of
adult Internet users believe their computers have been
infected with spyware. Some report that in the past 12
months spyware-related problems have cost them
approximately $50. Extrapolating this cost to the
entire population of Internet users, the total monetary
loss could reach hundreds of millions every year.

Well more than three-quarters of those who report
having been infected with spyware believe they have
experienced a monetary loss, a productivity loss or
some other inconvenience.

More than 26% of the respondents who downloaded spyware
stated that they purchased security solutions to
respond to spyware threats. Another 14% stated that
they hired computer consultants.

But as big a problem as spyware obviously is, most
users can't tell it from adware. Ponemon gave the
following definition to users:

"Both spyware and adware assist in gathering
information about a person or organization and sends it
to other interested parties. The difference is that you
agree to download adware in exchange for free software
or other offers. Spyware is downloaded without your
consent or awareness that it is on your computer
collecting information about you."

This definition is considered correct, but 49% of the
respondents said it was not, signaling a significant
level of consumer confusion.

In addition, while over 84% of the respondents believe
they are victims of spyware, more than 42% admit to
having "no idea" where it came from. They certainly
don't remember downloading it.

Your Heart And Your Courage:
Both Belong To You
Both Must Be Nurtured And Respected
PART 11 of 11

Did you know that in certain instances, the health care
agencies supply what is called a “patient advocate”. So
even the “system” understands the needs for
clarification and understanding. You might also find a
doctor who will actually come to your seniors group and
tell you how you could make your appointment more
effective. All this only takes courage until you have a
few of your own experiences. Then you have conquered
one more fear. Much more importantly, you have reached
another milestone toward your mission in taking control
of your health.

Incidentally, when you finally achieve this level of
confidence with your health care professional, it
spills over into all other parts of your being.
Remember the t-shirt that says “I survived such and
such”? Maybe you need to make yourself one that says “I
survived my doctor’s visit and learned to conquer my
fear of asking”.

Having read all this, and now being confronted with
your doctor telling you that you have a problem with
the apex of your heart and the lower left part, what
would you do? I sincerely hope you have now learned it
is your responsibility to clarify what is meant. If
there is further treatment proposed, you need to find
out about possible complications. What are its desired
outcomes? You must ask how you can use this information
to keep you healthy or return you to health. Did you
enjoy your trip through your cardiovascular system?
Would it be worthwhile protecting it and the rest of
your body? Would the challenge of learning to ask
better questions be a small price to pay for a healthy
lifestyle? Only you can answer that.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

Sharon Smithson was in a fuss and a dither.
The day of her wedding to Tim Henry was only two
days away and she was not sure all was in
readiness. Moreover, the idea this was a big step
was weighing heavily on her mind.

Sharon had no doubts. She was perfectly in
love with Tim and he with her. Yet, it doesn't
matter how right an action is a step like this was
a big one and would affect the rest of her life,
and she was feeling the impact of that idea.

Tim Henry, too, was having similar thoughts.
He, too, knew this was the right thing to do but
to him it was a big step. Then he looked at his
Mom and Dad. It made him think that his life would
work out like their lives did. He knew they were
happier together than either of them would have
been alone. He envisioned himself and Sharon to be
much like his Mom and Dad. That was indeed a
pleasurable thought and it took away his
concerns.

Tim went over to Sharon's. She still lived in
the apartment he helped her get many months ago.
As was his custom he just appeared in her living
room and then went looking for her. She wasn't
far. She was sitting at her kitchen table drinking
a cup of coffee.

"How ya doing, honey?" Tim put his arms around
her from behind her and gave her a hug, and then
kissed her on her cheek.

The pair of them had learned just how far they
could go without causing themselves to become so
lustfully involved they found it hard to extract
each from an action they really didn't want now.
So Tim did not touch her with passion in mind but
with reason in mind. Each knew they would be fully
able to let their passions toward one another have
unbridled reign over their lives, in just a couple
days time.

"I'm fine sweetheart. I'm just sitting here
observing the impact this idea of marriage is
having on me. How about you?"

"Yeah. Me too. That's why I came over. I know
it's a big step, but I was looking at my Mom and
Dad, then at Eloise and Mazunta. If we can have
what they have we will be perfect. I see no reason
to think otherwise. And it is for sure I love you
more than anything, except my Maker, of course."

"Oh! Tim! Me too. I love you so much it hurts.
I am so glad you stuck with me even when I did all
those awful things against you and your family. I
am so happy now that I live by higher law I can't
fully express it. I love you." With that Sharon
was in Tim's lap with her arms around his neck and
they kissed passionately. This one lasted longer
than they normally kissed and Tim finally had to
break it off and come up for a breather.

"Take it easy there girl. You don't want to
take us down the path of no return."

"Yes I do!" Sharon wiggled on his lap and
giggled as she did so. She knew it would start a
scene. Just as she thought Tim was going to swat
her on the behind she jumped up and ran to the
other side of the table. His hand missed her and
she was suddenly gone. In less time than it takes
to tell you, Tim was at her side and had a good
hold on her. They were both laughing and playing
another one of their lover's games. She struggled
to get away from him and succeeded.

The pair of them chased one another around the
apartment like kids splashing water and chasing
one another in the shallow end of a swimming pool.
An onlooker would have enjoyed the fun and laughed
at it.

Then he caught her and was on top of her on
the couch where she had fallen. They were both
breathless. They looked in each other's eyes and
each knew what they wanted.

"I guess we better get you a cup of coffee to
cool you down. You look like a horny monster to
me, there Mr. Henry."

Tim shook his head and laughed. "And who is
the sexy little tease that brought all this on?"

"I know, but I want you so bad I can taste
you." Sharon reached up and put her arms around
Tim's neck, pulling him back down onto her. She
kissed him again with the kiss of a wonton,
lustful woman. She thrust her groin into his and
the pair of them kissed for another long one.

Breathing hard and raspy, Tim broke loose and
headed for the kitchen table. "Sugar, I can't take
this any more. My resolve is weakening with every
day we get closer to our wedding."

"Okay, I'll leave you alone, chicken." She
expected Tim to come running again at the
challenge she threw out. This time he didn't.

Tim pointed his finger at her and waved it
back and forth. "Oh no you don't. You're not going
to get me with that. You just a brazen hussy and
I'm not going to bite today." He laughed.

TODAY'S REPORT:

This has been a relaxed and wonderful week. I am looking
forward to spending the weekend with family, especially a
granddaughter with whom I get to play some music. She's
good on the violin and I'm getting listenable on the guitar,
plus we can both play the electronic keyboard. So we
have fun.

HA! HA! HA!

A man who was told by his doctor that he was suffering
from acute alcoholism.

The man said, "Doc, I can't tell
my wife I am suffering from alcoholism. Isn't there one
of those big medical terms that I can give her?"

The doctor said, "As far as I'm concerned, there is no
other term for it but alcoholism."

As the man left the doctor's office he passed a music
store and in the window his eye caught the word
"syncopation". That word seemed to strike a responsive
chord somewhere. When he got home he told his wife the
doctor had said he was suffering from acute
syncopation.

That was all right until she looked up the
word in the dictionary and read: "Syncopation - an
irregular and erratic movement from bar to bar".
