--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What REALLY caused the cold weather?
Benjamin Franklin, of course, was innocent. The real
cause of the strange and deadly weather was a huge
volcano that had erupted in Indonesia in April 1815.
When Mount Tambora erupted, the explosion was heard
nearly 1,000 miles away. A layer of volcanic ash
one-foot thick covered the surface of the sea, and over
the following year, more than a million and half tons
of dust and debris blanketed the sky and blocked out
the sun's rays. The heavy ash changed weather patterns
in most of the Northern Hemisphere.
How much of Mount Tambora was destroyed by the volcano?
By the time Mount Tambora was through erupting, the
peak has lost 4,200 feet of its 13,000 foot height.

Your "Success" Instinct
Do you know about the "success instinct"? A squirrel does
not have to be taught how to gather nuts. Nor does it need
to learn that it should store them for the winter. A
squirrel born in the spring has never even experienced a
winter. Yet in the fall of the year you can observe that
squirrel busily storing nuts for the lean winter months.
Birds do not take nest-building lessons. They have no
ability to read maps, yet they can return to exact locations
year after year. These instincts assist the animal to
successfully cope with its environment. This is the
"success instinct".
You have a success instinct as well. Animal's goals are
pre-set; yours are completely up to your creative
imagination. An animal's success is limited to its built-in
goal-images that we call instincts; your success is
unlimited.
You are not a machine, however, you do have a
"servo-mechanism". Maxwell Maltz wrote that "...your
physical brain and nervous system make up a servo-mechanism
which you use, and which operates very much like an
electronic computer, and a mechanical goal-seeking device.
Your brain and nervous system constitute a goal-striving
mechanism, which operates automatically to achieve a certain
goal, very much as a self-aiming torpedo or missile seeks
out its target and steers its way to it. Your built-in
servo-mechanism functions both as a "guidance system' to
automatically steer you in the right direction to achieve
certain goals, or make correct responses to environment, and
also as an "electronic brain" which can function
automatically to solve problems, give you needed answers,
and provide new ideas or 'inspirations'."
There are two general types of these mechanisms. One
functions when the target, goal or answer is know and your
objective is to reach or accomplish it, and the other
function when the target, goal or answer is not known and
the objective is to discover or locate it. Your brain and
your nervous system operate in both ways.
When you know your target, you also know when you are on
course, and when you are off track. You accomplish your
goals by going forward, making errors, and continually
correcting them and moving forward once again. Your built-in
goal-striving mechanism works for you. Once the pattern is
established, it will work for you automatically. The key,
however, is in knowing that this mechanism is always working
for you. Oh, you don't think so? Well, it is.
You know the story of the "Little Engine that Could", don't
you? You'll remember it's affirmation, "I think I can, I
think I can." It had a servo-mechanism rooted in positive
affirmation. It focused on the goal and engaged fully in
accomplishing it without doubt or question. It could have
chosen to say to itself, "I don't think I can, I don't think
I can." and it would have come to a complete stop. In both
cases, the mechanism was trained and it performed. If you
are not reaching your goals, look carefully at the training
you are giving your servo-mechanism!

Who Controls You?
You Or Your Stress: MAKE It Your Decision
PART 1 of 4
Just recently, I heard a very interesting discussion about
character. In fact we were made aware of the need for
each of us to decide what we stood for, how we arrived
at our lifestyle decisions, and what helped us make
these choices. They include Trustworthiness, Respect,
Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
Michael Josephson http://www.charactercounts.org/
It might be a great idea to find yourself a quiet spot and
study the following characteristics. You may "connect"
with some or all of them. The point is that if they blend
with your values, they give you additional courage and
ideas for holding fast to your decision. Many times we
just need to incorporate them into our lives and put
them into action.
This is along the same lines as having made a decision
BEFORE you get into the back seat of a car. When you
are faced with a dilemma, and peer-pressure (which as
you know, comes with any age) is strong, your decision
is easy and stress-free. No waffling or thinking you
REALLY don't want to do that. Your preparation gives
you peace of mind.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
The newcomers recognized faces like the
Smithson's, the White's, the Henry's, the
Striker's and the Sparks'. And it was usually
while in the company of these that they met others
from other lands.
The love that emanated from this group was
enormous, almost overpowering. It changed
completely the attitude of those newly arrived.
They were all bathed in this enriching love and
they liked it. Each was made comfortable and each
wanted to participate for those they spoke with
seemed almost as long lost friends.
The day became busy with people milling
everywhere. There was hardly a quiet moment for
anyone. They were so busy they nearly forgot about
the wedding and the reason they were all there.
Bob and Harriett Smithson were kept so busy it
became confusing. Harriett was thrilled by all the
company but she clearly was off center. She was
all wrapped up in the fame and popularity of being
the center of attention. It created a somewhat
euphoric condition within her and she went with
it.
Bob, on the other hand, was appreciative of
the attention but became aware that was far from
reality. He didn't know it for sure but he was on
the verge of learning higher law.
It would be some time before they forgot this
day, likely never. Bob was apprehensive about the
business of giving his daughter away. He had the
water bit handled but marrying off his daughter,
the one he loved so much and the one he spent so
much time raising, that was beginning to pull at
his heart strings.
Tom and Tlang were off by themselves, in their
own little world. Not physically, because they
were right in the center of things, but they were
seated against the wall of the cabin just being
alone with each other. That meant they were
oblivious to what was going on around them. Ahh!
Such is the way of young love.
Sam and Alewka were busy visiting with all
who came. Their friends the Strikers, the Sparks,
the Whites, and Mae and Sue, kept everyone busy
and entertained.
Hemno was not used to this clothing that
he was wearing. He was used to his loincloth and
the freedom of movement it offered. Yet he had not
been in this country before and found it much
cooler than his native Africa. He, now living by
higher law, was well prepared to wear the costume,
but he was, nonetheless, uncomfortable.
Sonora was in her element. She loved crowds
and she loved to visit. Folks would ask her where
she was from and she would tell them. They would
comment about the heat they thought was in Africa
and sometimes they would ask her how she lived.
When she told them they would not believe this
lovely young lady came from such humble
surroundings.
Such reactions did not bother Sonora. She knew
the thoughts of those who did not live by higher
law. She was just happy to be here and witness the
marriage of her beloved friend, Tim Henry. If the
truth be known, Sonora had a thing for Tim and
would have jumped at the chance to marry him. She
loved him for quite a while. Yet it was not to be
and she accepted that. She knew her time would
come.
Romano and Oomano spent a lot of time with
Eloise and Mazunta. They, though living on the
same continent, had not spent any time together
for a long while now. The ladies were talking
babies and children and the guys were talking men
things. All loved to be here. Such reunions were
too seldom in happening and they wanted to make
the most of this one.
Sien moved about the crowd. The newcomers,
guests of the Smithsons, had no idea who he was or
what he was about to do. They seemed to come to
him as if by a magnet. That is the kind of man he
was. He liked the company and enjoyed all present.
In the back of his mind he marveled at how higher
law had spread in this community and because of
the Henrys.
He thought back to that long ago day when he
stopped in the middle of a meadow to speak with a
young lady. She was not afraid, yet she had no
idea where she was or how she would get home. Yet
she knew she had to listen to the instructions she
received from inside. This Eloise Henry was then
on the verge of higher law. Now look at what
influence she has exerted on mankind. Few were
like her.
Eloise's selected mate, Mazunta, was marked
for great things. He was a leader amongst leaders.
He was a towering man of magnificent structure and
ladies swooned when he was nearby. He was a gentle
giant with exquisite wisdom. He was knowledgeable
about nearly everything and could get along
wherever he was.

HA! HA! HA!
A motorcycle cop was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed
appendix.
The doctors operated and advised him that all was well.
However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the
hairs on his chest. Worried that it might be a second
surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got
enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough so he
could look at what was making him so uncomfortable.
Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide strips
of adhesive tape, the ultra sticky kind. Written in large
black letters was the sentence, "Get well soon! Luv, from
the nurse you gave a ticket to last week!"
