Why don't women have Adam's apples?
They do, actually. Or, at least, they have the same
part. We tend to think only men have Adam's apples, but
that's just because the Adam's apple in men is visible.
Why? Men's voices are usually deeper, and so their
larynx must be larger to accommodate longer vocal
cords. Women also tend to have more fat in their necks,
which further serves to disguise the larynx.
How did the Adam's apple get its name?
The Adam's apple gets its name from the Biblical story
of Adam and Eve. According to legend, a piece of the
apple that Adam ate became lodged in his throat. From
then on, all of Adam's male descendents had the lump as
a symbol of their shame.

Vision!
In a busy, day to day world, we are often so busy that when
we get a chance to relax we almost "cave in". Too often when
we go to bed we are so exhausted we can't even keep our eyes
open. And, sometimes, that tension from the day is so
overpowering we find it difficult to sleep, making tomorrow
worse than today.
Most of us have lost our VISION!
I want you to close your eyes for a moment. Having done so,
I want you to see yourself, "in your 'mind's eye'", in that
"movie theater in the mind".
Take a look at what you want to do, be, have. This is, of
course, a daydream, but do it anyway.
Relax a minute and see yourself as how you want. See
yourself as having the money you need, the house, vehicles,
kids education, holidays and all the things you want. See
yourself as actually doing, having, being.
This is called VISION!
The rule is, according to Napolean, that if there is ever a
contest between common sense and imagination, then
imagination will win the day.
So if you see your VISION often, as many times a day as you
can, then guess what will come to pass?
It is particularly important at bed time, for there it has
the additional therapeutic effect of relaxing you from the
tensions of the day and offers a wonderful basis for
sleeping.
I want you to try something else. I want you, in this dream,
to be in it. That is to say, try to smell the air, feel the
ground beneath your feet, feel the temperature, hear the
sounds, watch passersby. Make it a scene that is being
experienced through your body, your eyes, ears, nose,
tongue, and sense of touch.
Make a promise to yourself. Promise yourself you will do two
things. First, you will take time to dream this dream at
least once every day. Second, you WILL NOT STRIVE TO MAKE IT
HAPPEN. That's right. You promise yourself you will put no
conscious effort into making it happen. LET IT HAPPEN!
That is the natural law of the mind. It will always go to
the picture it is given. That is why so many people seem to
go nowhere. They have no picture, no VISION!
Keep your VISION before you always, not to remind you of
where you are now, but to remind you of where you are going.
It is a small price to pay for success.
Take your vision, play with it, see it as a "moving
picture", that changes as you do every day, but always see
yourself as having, doing, being as a part of this picture.
It is not a moving picture that is about someone else, It is
about you. Include you.
Then, as Napolean said, it will win the day!

ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE & Folic Acid
One of the highlights of my teaching is to help nursing
students feel comfortable when looking after patients with
Dementia, be that Alzheimer's, Huntingdon's Chorea, etc.
But these conditions don't necessarily have to happen or
they can be held back. There is a lot of research going on
now, trying to relate the oxidative stress process with these
conditions. Many patients are given "optimum" doses of
anti-oxidants with almost unbelievable results. Here is
another study, but this time using folic acid, a trace
mineral. I want to recognize the research work of
Joan Baumann, jwbaumann@sprint.ca in
Ontario, Canada, for keeping a sharp eye out for
very helpful relevant research material. She always
adds her "lay comments", which helps us all to connect
the importance of the study findings to our own needs.

Plasma Homocysteine and Alzheimer's Disease
A cohort of 1092 elderly subjects who were free of
dementia were studied prospectively. After a median
of eight years of follow-up, dementia had developed
in 111 subjects. Even after adjustment for other known
risk factors, an elevated plasma total Homocysteine
level at base line was an independent predictor of the
development of clinical dementia, most cases of which
were caused by Alzheimer's disease. The risk of
Alzheimer's disease was nearly doubled for those
with the highest plasma Homocysteine levels.
This prospective, observational study greatly strengthens
the evidence for an association between the plasm
a Homocysteine level and the risk of dementia. Since
folic acid supplementation can reduce plasma
Homocysteine levels, this report suggests an
intervention that may help prevent dementia.

A brilliant light appeared, and came closer.
From out of the midst came Jesus. The love he
broadcast was so intense it was powerful. He spoke

mankind in the inexorable journey back to the
Garden of Eden from whence they came. There they
shall remain with their Father forever. Tim and
Sharon have found that garden and it is there for
all to find. Let it be known to all that this
union I bless. Let no man put asunder.
Unto those who wish to live by higher law I
now remove from you all impediment to that end.
Henceforth, forever, you shall be permitted to
live by higher law only so far as you come to
understand and apply the great law 'As ye sow, so
shall ye reap.' Unto you is given this ability.
Let no man say I am dead for they know not of what
they speak. Let no man tell you my message of so
long ago was for a special group. In your Maker's
eyes all are special. Go in peace and love from
this day forever." With that Jesus held up his
hands, palms toward the guests and sent unto each
person a ray of love that reached the heart of
all. Then, slowly, he once more merged with the
light and was gone.
Sien rose and resumed his position in front of
Tim and Sharon. He turned them around and quietly
gave the announcement. "I now pronounce these two
to be man and wife. Please welcome into your midst
Tim and Sharon Henry."
The crowd broke into a heartfelt cheer that
resounded around the lake. Anyone out at the lake
that day would have heard it.
Tim and Sharon were besieged with well
wishers. It seemed everyone wanted to get a piece
of them. They were kept busy for hours.
Bob Smithson came up to Sien. "Thank you Sien.
that was a wonderful ceremony. My heart jumped a
mile when Jesus appeared. How is it that our
churches teach us incorrectly?"
"Bob, did you realize you are standing on the
water?"
Bob looked down and to his surprise he was
walking on the water and never gave a thought to
it. Even now, he knew he could do it. He was
pleased. "Wow!"
"Rather than worry about the church teaching
you incorrectly, why don't you concern yourself
with what teachings are correct and pay attention
to them?"
"You mean the one is negative and the other
positive?"
"No, Bob, I mean the one is argumentative and
takes you nowhere except away from your Maker,
while the other leads you directly to your Maker.
There is more than enough in this world to argue
and fight over if you are looking for that. Those
who want to live by higher law prefer to look at
those things that lead them in that direction."
Bob thought on that for a while. "I shall pay
attention to what permits me to live by higher
law. I have seen, today, how it is possible and
how personages no less than Jesus say it is the
right way to live. I choose to live by higher
law."
"Good. Now learn the law, 'As ye sow, so shall
ye reap.' As you become familiar in all aspects of
that law and see how all encompassing it is. You
will begin to see that what you plant in your mind
will come to pass. That is why you must know this
law. It will show you that when you plant hatred
or a desire to harm someone then that comes back
to you. On the contrary, if all you sow is love
then you reap those rewards."
Sam Henry came up to the two men. "Thank you
Sien. I appreciate your work. Say, Bob, you seem
to be doing okay!"
"Sam, this is wonderful. My heart is so full I
cannot explain it. I am terribly proud of those
kids."
"You seem to be showing that, Bob. Your
countenance is shining and broadcasting your love.
Are you not aware you are now using higher law?
Welcome, Bob. Call on me anytime you think I can
answer questions for you."
The State rep came up to Sien. "Here are the
papers you will need. I have what the State needs.
I have never seen such an impressive wedding. Who
was that man who appeared from nowhere, and on the
water?"
"That was the man you purport to follow. That
was Jesus."
"Oh! My God!" The man was visibly shaken.
Sien took the man to the cabin where he sat
him down. The very idea he had seen Jesus was a
shock to this man. He had always thought Jesus was
simply a man were supposed to love and emulate,
but long dead. That he had seen Jesus was a
considerable shock to this man.
