How did they clean outhouse holes?
Does Minnesota really have 10,000 lakes?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
But why does it seem that the moon symbol is so much more
common?
Apparently, outhouses for women tended to outlive outhouses
for men. One explanation is that men's outhouses were less
maintained, or not built as frequently as outhouses for
women at all. Men, after all, could be less modest and find
a convenient tree to go behind. To economize, an inn might
construct only a facility for women, or, if one outhouse was
destroyed, convert the remaining one to the women's outhouse
by carving a moon on the door.
Why do most outhouses have two different holes?
Many outhouses had two different holes of two sizes. The aim
was to accommodate children, who didn't want to risk falling
into the bigger, adult-sized hole!

Guilt Will Do It To You!
It was many years ago since the embarrassing day when a
young woman, with a baby in her arms, entered his butcher
shop and confronted him with the news that the baby was his
and asked what was he going to do about it?
Finally he offered to provide her with free meat until the
boy was 16.
She agreed.
He had been counting the years off on his calendar, and one
day the teenager who had been collecting the meat each week,
came into the shop and said, "I'll be 16 tomorrow."
"I know," said the butcher with a smile, "I've been counting
too, tell your mother, when you take this parcel of meat
home, that it is the last free meat she'll get, and watch
the expression on her face."
When the boy arrived home he told his mother. The woman
nodded and said, "Son, go back to the butcher and tell him I
have also had free bread, free milk, and free groceries for
the last 16 years and watch the expression on HIS face!"
This is, of course, an exaggerated example of what guilt can
do to an individual. I am impressed with the smarts of the
lady involved, though I would not want to be on the
receiving end of what the law will give her, you know the
law that says "What goes around - comes around"?
Wonder of wonders it is an awful truth that each of us
carries guilt around with us about something. That is why
the writings on forgiveness.
What is important is that each of us must realize that no
guilt becomes planted and learned into our brains and hearts
without some fairly strong emotion. That leaves an imprint
that governs our behavior from then on.
As we are growing up we often do little things for which we
get scolded. Soon we learn to be quiet and sneaky about it
so no one will find out. Now starts the guilt. Every once in
a while someone finds out and we are given a reprimand.
That, under normal circumstances, aids and abets our guilt.
Now we are walking through life carrying this package of
childish behavior with us. Oh! We remember the adventure
part of it and will often talk about that. However, we never
speak of the guilt that was implanted at the same time.
Later in life we also pick up guilt. It may be by accident
that you hurt someone and feel guilty about it. It may be on
purpose and your guilt takes on the aura of defiance.
Nonetheless, being human, it is virtually impossible for one
to live life without picking up some guilt along the way.
Once that point is understood with an open mind and an open
heart then there are two things of which one should be
aware.
First, forgive yourself. That is right. Your Maker has long
ago forgiven you but you must forgive yourself, it is vital.
Once done you can now breathe fresh air again.
Second, realize that guilt has influenced your reactions and
actions. Take a look at them to see if, without guilt, you
would do some things different.
It is all too often the case that guilt will keep us from
success. It allows us to draw the conclusion, deep in our
brains, that we are not worthy. It is far too subtle for
anyone to see or realize on a daily basis, yet it remains a
truth and it is there.
Give some thought to this subject. It is a small price to
pay for success if a good honest, heart cleansing, self
forgiveness session opens your mind and heart to renewed
enthusiasm. It might very well be just the right thing to
push you over the top and into the success you have been
dreaming of for so long.

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 2 of 31
The terms oral health and general health
should not be interpreted as separate entities. Oral
health is integral to general health: oral health means
more than healthy teeth and you cannot be healthy
without oral health, Donna Shalala, Secretary of
Health and Human Services in Oral Health America: A
Report of the Surgeon General, 2000.
I couldnt think of a better way to begin this booklet
than to underscore the effect of oral health on overall
health. But just how does her statement about oral
health correlate to health and longevity? It does
because healthy people live longer and the quality of
their lives is far superior. There are a number of
commonly known factors related to the study of health
and longevity that almost everyone will recognize. Some
of the more common factors include:
1. Healthy diet;
2. Intelligent nutritional supplementation;
3. Healthy lifestyle;
4. Elimination of harmful substances, such as tobacco,
alcohol, and drugs;
5. Stress reduction;
6. Exercise; and
7. A healthy emotional and mental life.
Every proponent of optimal health understands the
relationship between these factors and health and
longevity; without a doubt, they are all important.
However, I suggest that there is another factor missing
from this list, one that also plays an overlooked but
significant role in overall health. This factor is
dental disease and its harmful effect on the health of
the body.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

So Tim and Sharon were now married. The idea
had not yet fully settled in. The crowd was
milling around them and occupying their attention.
They really had no time to themselves and the day
was becoming a bit of a blur.
Finally, Tim found a blank spot where there
was no one around them. He took Sharon's hand and
the pair of them disappeared behind the cabin.
Once there, he kissed her a long and loving kiss.
When he broke it he asked, "Are you okay? This has
been such a busy one we haven't had any time to
ourselves."
"I'm fine, honey. I feel the same way. Oh
well! Once we get through this day we'll have only
ourselves to worry about."
"I'm looking forward to that, Mrs. Henry." Tim
reached under her dress and pinched her bottom.
Sharon jumped. "Tim, not here, someone will
see." She leaned into him and gave him a powerful,
nearly lustful kiss, and then began to walk back
to the party.
"Oh, there you two are. We were wondering
where you got to." Sam and Alewka Henry were at
the top of the steps as the kids came from around
the back of the cabin.
"Hi, Mom, Dad. What's up?"
"Nothing, son. We just wanted to chat with you
for a bit. You've both been so busy we haven't had
a chance to even say hello."
"I know. That's why we took a couple minutes
and went to the back of the cabin. We just wanted
to touch base with each other."
"Sharon, honey," said Alewka, "welcome to the
family. I think it's wonderful to have you aboard.
Don't let this monster we raised push you around.
Make him earn his keep." She laughed.
"I will, Mom. I love him so much." Sharon
grabbed Tim's arm and hugged it. "He has been
nothing but the perfect gentleman and I don't
expect any changes now. We'll be fine."
"We know you will sweetheart. I am so glad you
learned higher law and I am so glad you picked Tim
and he picked you."
Sam walked up to Sharon and put his arms
around her, broadcasting love unto her. "Welcome,
Sharon. It is good to have you in the family." He
stepped back.
"Thank you, Dad. I am glad to be here."
Eloise and Mazunta came up to them and Eloise
moved straight into Sharon to give her a hug and a
kiss. "Welcome, Sharon. It is good to have another
woman in the family. You two come visit us as
often as you can. There is always a place for you
in our village."
Mazunta, too, towering over Sharon, gave her a
hug, broadcasting love. He picked her right up off
the ground. Putting her back down, Mazunta now
reached over for Tim's hand. They shook. "Good
going, Tim. Good work." He winked.
"Thank you folks for having me. It is nice to
be welcomed into a family like this. I have always
felt loved and welcome. Now, I guess, it's
official."
Alewka put her arms around Sharon and began to
take her toward the cake Sharon's Mother had
created.
She looked at Sam. He knew it was time to have
everyone gather around for the cutting of the
cake, a tradition in North American weddings. All
crowded around and a cheer went up as Tim and
Sharon cut the cake and began to serve out the
myriad of little pieces they had days earlier cut
and wrapped.
Those who lived in other countries found the
tradition interesting. They saw it as a sharing of
the event, a sharing of the first things the newly
married couple owned, a spreading of sweets and
happiness.
Tom and Tlang worked their way through the
crowd to come up behind Tim and Sharon. Tom tapped
Tim's shoulder, "Good work, Bro (The "o" sounds
long. North American slang for "brother")
Both Tim and Sharon turned and hugged both Tom
and Tlang "Thank you. I hope, one day, we will be
attending one of these things for you two."
Tlang blushed and looked down. Typical modesty
and humility of her people. Tom spoke, "Thank you,
the pair of you. I think maybe you will."
"Come visit us, next week. You know where
we'll be."
"Thanks, Sharon."
The next to approach Tim and Sharon were Bob
and Harriett Smithson. They gave each a hug,
although this was a hug that was considerably more
reserved, and "socially polite". "Welcome to our
family, Tim, welcome."
"Thank you, Dad, Mom, thank you."
"Oh, Mom, this is such a wonderful cake. You
put so much time and love into it. Everyone is
enjoying it." Sharon knew her Mother needed
emotional reassuring just now. Being amongst those
who lived by higher law was nice, but it also made
Harriett feel somewhat insecure, inferior. Both
those were foolish feelings but that is what was
going on in Harriett's mind and heart.

HA! HA! HA!
A beautiful woman walked into an orchard and found a lovely
pool in it. She decided to go skinny-dipping. She looked
around, didn't see anyone, and undressed.
Just as she was about to dive in, the orchard owner appeared
from behind the bush where he was hiding all along and told
her that swimming was prohibited.
"You could have told me that before I undressed!" she
scolded him.
He replied, "Swimming is prohibited, undressing isn't..."
