TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
What's the difference between a pond and a lake?
WHY does Minnesota have so many lakes?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
How did they clean outhouse holes?
They didn't. When the hole got full, they'd merely cover it
with dirt and dig out a new hole and move the outhouse over
that.
Does Minnesota really have 10,000 lakes?
Minnesota license tags proclaim the state the "Land of
10,000 Lakes." Could a single state really have that many?
YES. In fact, Minnesota actually has 11,842 lakes, if you
just count the ones 10 acres or larger in size.

Your 168 Hours
In every week you have 168 hours to use as you wish. Do you
really know how you spend them? A general idea of what you
do with your time is not nearly as instructional as a clear
understanding. Here is an exercise to help you clarify.
Take a letter-size piece of paper and draw a large circle on
it. To the right of the circle, write these words in a
vertical list: family, career, grooming, sleep, exercise,
driving, community, household, recreation, time alone...add
any that are important to you. Now, beside each item, put
the number of hours in an average week that you spend on it.
When you are done, change those numbers into a percentage of
your 168 hours/week. Now, to really make an impact, make a
pie graph in the circle of the ways you spend your time.
If, by any chance, you simply read the above paragraph
without doing the exercise, and are now reading this, STOP!
Nothing changes until you do. If you do not know how you
spend your time, you will not receive the full benefit of
the ideas in this article. It is not enough to be saying to
yourself, "I know that I need more time for ______." If
that is so this exercise will help you find it. Please,
won't you go back and make the chart now? (This may be one
of the ways you short-change yourself in your daily life.
You may not give yourself time to do the good and beneficial
things that you know would improve your life. Is that a
pattern for you?)
Once you have your pie divided, ask yourself if the graph
well represents the importance of each item to you at this
time in your life. You may have to have quite a
conversation with yourself to determine this. Remember,
there are not any right answers...just right answers for
you!
If you find that your graph fits your priorities, you will
be experiencing contentment. If not, you may want to make
some adjustments.

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 3 of 31
With that in mind, this booklet will focus on:
How dental /oral disease, amalgam fillings, and
dental materials can affect ones overall health;
Why these issues are so important in regard to health
and longevity; and
How physicians and other health professionals can
help their clients recognize the importance of this
issue.
You will also discover that if dental disease, and
other related oral health issues, are not acknowledged
as an obstacle to achieving overall health, any efforts
to accurately diagnosis a disease or illness, treat the
problem, improve health, and extend life; will be less
effective; and will often fall short of the desired
goals. As you will see, dental problems can effect many
serious diseases and illnesses, ranging from heart
attack and stroke to idiopathic diseases, such as
Menieres and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Background A number of oral health issues can
negatively affect general health. All but one of the
oral health problems listed below are the direct result
of dental disease, in one form or another. These oral
health issues can be divided into two distinct, but
overlapping categories.
1. Dental/Oral disease. The most important of these in
regard to their impact on general health are:
a. Periodontal (gum) disease;
b. Infected root canals;
c. Cavitations (infected extraction sites); and
d. Other diseases of the oral cavity, such as oral
cancer.
2. Amalgam fillings, fluoride, and non-compatible
dental materials
All of these dental/oral issues can affect your general
health and, ultimately, longevity. Their impact is
determined by the seriousness of the related oral
health problem(s), its duration, and how many of the
above dental issues are active at the same time. Thus,
some individuals may be dealing only with problems
related to gum infections or amalgam fillings, some
with both problems, but there will be a significant
number of people whose health is compromised by all of
these dental issues.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

"Thank you sweetheart. We're going to miss you
around our place. Maybe it's a good thing you
moved into your own suite last year, sort of give
us a chance to get used to the idea."
"It's just a change Mom, Not a separation. Tim
and I will be back within a month and things will
be just about back to normal. Thank you for this.
Thank you for your support and for helping me get
to this place."
In a moment of wisdom, Harriett responded, "We
just set up the environment, honey. You did the
rest."
The day moved on with everyone enjoying the
Henry and the Smithson hospitality. None wanted to
leave. Although there was no band or official
dance, the crowd mingled completely. Even those
from town wanted to remain. The energy that
emanated from the Henry property was enormous.
Neighbors began to drop in, uninvited, but
still within the bounds of acceptable behavior.
They were fed, beveraged and welcomed into the
group.
Riata went back to her corner and manifested
the piano again. She began to play. The music was
so sweet it went straight to the soul of all
present.
The time had finally arrived where Tim and
Sharon thought they should leave on their
honeymoon. They had not told anyone where they
were going, but, then, in this crowd they all
knew. It was about ten at night here in Pinehill,
at the cabin. That meant it was eight where they
were going.
Saying goodbye, hand in hand, they vanished to
the crowd. They reappeared at the newly prepared
honeymoon hut on the Amazon river, the same one
used by Eloise and Mazunta so long ago and by
Oomano and Romano.
It was nothing special, yet to honeymooners it
was exotic. The temperature was warm, the evening
clear and the air balmy. Eloise and Maz had been
here before they went to Pinehill. They had
prepared the place for Tim and Eloise. There were
flowers in coconut shells on each side of the door
and on a table inside. There was an exquisite
bottle of champagne sitting in ice on a table
under a patio roof in front of the hut and there
was a note to the kids from Maz and Missy
(Eloise).
The flowers didn't wilt because Eloise had set
up the environment for them. The ice didn't melt,
but kept the champagne cool, because the
environment had been created for that as well.
Tim stood still and looked at Sharon. There
was no more party noise around them, only the
noises of the evening jungle. They were beginning
to "come down" from the events of the last two or
three days.
He took her in his arms and they kissed. It
wasn't the lustful kiss one might expect. It was a
long loving kiss that recognized the new condition
between them. They were now man and wife.
"Let's get that champagne and the glasses and
go sit on the beach for a while. We have much to
talk about and think about."
"That's a good idea, but first, I want to
change."
"Okay, I'll wait."
Sharon disappeared into the hut and in a flash
had changed her street clothes for a shoulder to
toe "mumu". It had every color of the rainbow in
it and was bright. She also took her hair and
combed it out so that it was flowing and resting
on her shoulders.
When she came out of the hut all Tim could say
was "Wow!" It was clear to him that Sharon Henry
was unconditionally the most beautiful woman in
the world. "Just wait. Maybe I should do the
same." With that he went into the hut and changed
from his street clothes into a pair of similarly
colored shorts and shirt, which he left open in
the front so the breezes would keep him cool.
When he came out they walked to the beach,
champagne in hand. The sat on the knoll that was
about 15 feet above the water. It was sandy. From
here they could see for miles up and down the
river.
"Eloise said we had nothing to worry about
with animals. They placed a circle of protection
around the site. We just have to get used to the
noises. Sounds like in a movie, doesn't it?"
"Yes. and for your information I feel
perfectly comfortable. That's what goes along with
higher law, I guess. Even if animals did come
around it wouldn't bother me."
"Good for you. That was some wedding. I think
everyone enjoyed themselves."
"I'm sure they did, Tim. Your folks and my
folks would make sure of that. I'll bet they will
go on for days."

TODAY'S REPORT:
Well, now with my new Mac, and all it's power and ability I'm
thinking of upgrading from the current operating system to the
new one, called Tiger. Tiger offers much more capability and
features that will hopefully make my work easier. I have been
downloading some software in preparation for that event.
It ended up a rainy day here yesterday so that is what I was
doing. Today appears much the same so I'll be doing more,
plus I have some book work to do.
Have a great day folks!

HA! HA! HA!
A gentleman goes to an estate sale and notices that one of
the items for sale is a large parrot.
He's always wanted a talking bird, so when it comes up for
bid he offers $50. The bidding proceeds hot and heavy with
someone always bidding ten dollars more than he until the
parrot is finally sold to him for $1,500.
When he goes to get the bird, he asks the auctioneer, "Can
the bird talk?"
The auctioneer replied, "Who do you think was bidding
against you?"
