TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
What type of plane is Air Force One?
"Air Force One" is the radio call sign to designate any
plane the President is aboard. There are currently two
planes in the presidential fleet. When the president is
aboard either plane, or any other Air Force aircraft, the
radio call sign is "Air Force One." The two planes in the
current fleet are specifically-configured Boeing 747-200B
series aircraft. Both can accommodate about 70 passengers
and are capable of flying half way around the world without
refueling.
Does the White House have elevators?
Yep, three of them, in addition to 8 staircases.

What was George Custer's rank at the time he died he died in
the Battle of the Little Big Horn (hint: it's NOT
"General")?
George Armstrong Custer was not actually a general during
the Battle of the Little Big Horn, where he died. Custer WAS
a major general during the Civil War, but after the war he
and other officers lost their prewar volunteer ranks in an
army reorganization. Custer became a captain following the
war, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel --
the rank he held at the time of his death.
How many bathrooms are in the White House?
The White House currently has 35 bathrooms! When it was
first built, of course, it had none. Indoors, anyway.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
Go Prune A Tree!
I had a conversation one day with a social worker in a
hospital. She was a psychological therapist trying to
explain the death experience to folks left behind. She would
often observe the strange phenomenon of sexual arousal at
such times and, of course, people, not understanding it
would feel very guilty. The thinking was that it was
inappropriate to experience such feelings at such a time.
That is to say, until you understand the laws of your Maker.
She could not understand that experience and was very
perplexed when we were discussing it.
I gently asked her to go home and prune a tree, even remove
just one branch, in her own back yard and watch what
happens.
She could not, at that point, understand me. However, she
agreed.
About three weeks later I happened to be in that same
hospital and guess who I ran into. We had a coffee.
"I still do not understand why you wanted me to go prune one
of my trees" she said to me.
"Well" I asked her, "what happened when you pruned the
tree?"
"Nothing" she said.
"I agree" I said, "and what did you observe in a week or two
weeks"
"Oh, nothing special. The tree looked the same, but I'm
going to have to prune it again, there are some new shoots
beginning to come out." was her answer.
"Exactly" I said, "you have been so busy doing your job you
have not taken the time to observe what is going on around
you nor analyzing what it all means."
"The moment you wounded or 'killed' that branch, the tree
called upon the life force to protect it. The response was
to grow new shoots to replace the one that was 'cut off'. In
fact, it's defense was to produce more shoots than were
removed, just to ensure that at least one would live and
thrive. Am I beginning to show you something?" I asked.
"You mean when something dies, then the life force begins to
act upon those things within it's environment. Are you
trying to say the same thing happens in people?" she asked
me.
"Are people all part of the same nature and from the same
Maker as everything else in the world?" I asked.
"Yes" she said.
"Then, are we not all subject to the same law?" I asked.
"Of course" came her reply, "so when the sexual experience
occurs at the time of a loved ones death it is a natural
reaction to the life force. It is the need to carry on, it
is the need to protect the family and keep it alive and
thriving. The same forces that govern the tree govern us.
The entire phenomenon is completely perfect. Wow!" was her
response.
And so she had her answer. We, too, can learn from such
things. The same life force is not only present in us but in
all we do. Fear not if you have to "prune" some things out
once in a while for it often leads to better health, greater
productivity and a better "environment". Sometimes it is in
the "pruning" that life comes forth and creates the very
thing you have been attempting to create.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson
The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 9 of 31
Cardiovascular Disease
Heart Attack Coronary heart disease results when
arteries are narrowed or blocked by plaque. Plaque
usually consists of cholesterol, blood clotting
proteins, calcium and other substances. This narrowing
is often referred to as atherosclerosis. When this
takes place in the arteries leading to and around the
heart, the result is coronary heart disease. Over time,
the blood supply to the heart muscle can be severely
reduced or blocked, depriving the heart of the oxygen
it needs, resulting in a heart attack. Basically,
coronary heart disease precedes a heart attack and
anything that contributes to it could contribute to a
heart attack. What is significant here is that a number
of studies directly link gum disease to coronary heart
disease and heart attack.
In one study, researchers found a relationship between
dental disease and the risk of dying. The study is
noteworthy for a number of reasons. It was conducted in
the United States and included 9,760 subjects, making
the study (at that time) the largest of its kind. In
addition, several important discoveries resulted from
this study.
The study concluded that those with periodontitis (the
more advanced form of gum disease) had a 25% increased
risk of coronary heart disease compared to those with
minimal periodontal disease. It is interesting to note
that in this study, decay (dental caries) was not
observed to be a factor in coronary heart disease. In
men under 50, periodontal disease was an even stronger
risk factor in coronary heart disease. In this group,
men with periodontitis had nearly twice the risk of
coronary heart disease than men who had little or no
periodontal disease. In the total population (men and
women of all ages) the degree of dental debris (dental
plaque) and calculus (tartar), as reflected in the oral
hygiene index, was a stronger risk factor for coronary
heart disease than was the severity of periodontal
disease.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

Shirley, too, did not take them as angry
thoughts, neither was she angry at the statement.
She well knew she was like that and as far as she
was concerned it was the correct way.
"That was some journey you took Eloise. You're
a pretty brave girl."
"I don't know about that, Mrs. Penderay. My
Dad had taught me to stand on my own two feet and
how to think in a crisis. I used to hike for miles
in nature, without company. I just couldn't think
that nature was much different anywhere in the
world. Maybe different animals and stuff but the
rules of nature are the same all over."
"That's likely true but it took courage
nonetheless."
"Well thank you for what you are trying to
say. At the time I am not sure it was brave or
stupid. Yet it changed my life forever and I am
very glad my Mom and Dad let me go. They had
complete faith in me and that made me strong."
"Your folks are strong folks, Eloise. You are
a very fortunate girl."
"Yes, I am, Mr. Penderay."
"She is also very quick of mind, Harry. It was
Eloise who learned higher law first and brought it
back to her family." Ben was proud of his friend.
Eloise grabbed his arm and hugged it.
"He makes too much of it, Mr. Penderay. I
simply found that if I went inside in meditations
I was warned of what to do and what not to do. I
was told of danger when it was present and what to
do about it. Soon I just got to the point where I
did nothing before checking it out, inside. Soon
it seemed like second nature. Then one day I met a
man who appeared out of nowhere and he instructed
me in the final lessons of how to live by higher
law. I decided to do so and the rest is history."
"Wow! Who was that man? Where did he come
from? How did he know you were there?" Shirley
Penderay was becoming insatiably curious.
"The man was Sien, the gentleman who conducted
the ceremony for Tim and Sharon yesterday. He is a
man full of love and power. It was he who came to
me. He said he had been following my actions and
my thinking for a while and when I got to a
certain point I was ready for his guidance."
"The story is going around town that you saved
David Wiley's life."
"Mr. Penderay, stories have a way of getting
around, of growing and of changing from what is
the real truth. David and I were in a situation
with which were were not entirely familiar. He got
hurt and I was able to help, that's all. Think no
more of it than that."
"Hmmm! Modest too."
"What are you going to do with all that money
you got when you returned?"
"Mrs. Penderay, I have no need of money. I can
do, be, have anything I want. What I want is to
help mankind and to live my life by higher law. I
want the same for my family and those I am able to
help, nothing more."
"So what did you do with it then?"
"Nothing. It is still in the bank. I am
looking for places to give it away. It has no
value to me."
"That's preposterous, Eloise. Surely you want
to keep some of it at least!" Shirley Penderay was
flabbergasted that Eloise did not want the money.
No one in this world would think like that.
Eloise could see where this was going. "Mrs.
Penderay, money, the things of money, material
goods, having all the toys and goodies in man's
world is nothing more and nothing less than a
bondage that keeps man from learning higher law. I
need no such bondage."
"B ... but Eloise? That is crazy. Everyone
needs money."
"Mrs. Penderay, I live by higher law. I can
manifest anything I want. I can travel anywhere
without need of man's transportation, I can have
and manifest any food I need, clothing I need,
shelter I need. Why would I want to have something
that took me away from those things? If you are a
church goer and you read the words of Jesus then
you must have come across his admonition that you
must give up your life in order to gain it. Now
you must decide to believe him or not. That's your
choice. His way or man's way. It is really that
simple."
"Gee! I thought I was pragmatic. Now I see
what Harry means. You are saying it is one way or
the other, not both."
"That is what I am saying. Furthermore I am
saying that Jesus said it long ago. If you have a
King James Version of the bible, not some of those
modern mistranslations, then you can see what he
said. Go to Matthew 6: v19 to 31, and to Matthew
21: v 21 & 22. Then from there do your own
thinking. Look at what he says. Think about it."

HA! HA! HA!
We had made some changes in our lives. My husband had lost
50 pounds and after eight years of being a housewife, I had
taken a job in a restaurant.
When I returned home after my first day at work, I gave my
husband a big hug.
He seemed to cling to me longer than usual.
"Did you really miss me that much today, dear?" I asked.
"No," came the reply. "But you smell so much like pancakes,
I hate to let you go."
