TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

Where on the human body do you find the thinnest skin?

Why is skin considered the largest organ in the human body?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Who was the first US president to travel outside the US?

President Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909) became the first
president to travel outside the US when he visited Panama.

Is it true that human skin is almost as thin as a few sheets
of paper?

Yes. Skin is quite thin (less than a millimeter thick in
some places), yet it provides enormous protection for our
bodies, shielding our nerves, blood vessels, and organs from
harm.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------

A Rose By Any Other Name!

Sven and Ole worked together were both laid off, so off they
went to the unemployment office. When asked his occupation,
Sven looked the lady in the eye and said "Panty stitcher. I
sew the elastic onto cotton panties."

The clerk looked up panty stitcher. Finding it classed as
unskilled labor, she gave him $300 a week unemployment pay.

Ole goes in and sits down with the lady. She asked Ole his
occupation. "Diesel fitter" he replied. Since diesel fitters
was a skilled job the clerk gave the Ole $600 a week.

When Sven found out he was furious. He stormed back in to
find out why his friend and co-worker, Ole, was collecting
double his unemployment pay. The clerk explained: when I
looked it up, panty-stitchers were unskilled laborers and
diesel fitters were skilled laborers.

"What skill?" yelled Sven. "I sew the elastic on. He pulls
on it and says, "Yep, diesel fitter".

I really snickered at this one.

I find it amazing what we do with names, titles and words.

Have you ever noticed how much more comfortable a person is
with a disease or an illness once they put a name to it?

Have you ever noticed how other things in life become
acceptable once they are named?

It is almost as if the mind of people is saying "Well, if
they have a word for it then it must be common and so I'm
okay, too."

The human mind has come to understand that once something is
given a name then they can deal with it. Otherwise mankind
is left in a state of limbo and fails to adjust to the
condition.

It puts me in mind of how thankful I am that the laws of our
Maker are constant, never changing and don't need names.

For the laws of our Maker function on conditions, regardless
of names. Names are a mankind thing. They, too often, serve
to keep us so busy we are unable to see nor align ourselves
with the laws of our Maker.

Words are like a chain that keep us bound to one another.
Those who let go of the chain are considered outcasts. Just
like the seagulls in Richard Bach's book Jonathon Livingston
Seagull, we all fight for scraps on the beach and when one
leaves the flock to see the world beyond we, again, use
words to label them as outcasts.

Funny thing, words. They help us develop habits that so many
times prevent us from having what out Maker wants for us.
They really do form this chain from which we are fearful of
letting go.

Go inside and think deep on this point. Sometimes letting go
will provide you with more life that you knew existed.

Sometimes understanding the promises of our Maker really do
work and that the laws are there, beyond words, to give one
a life fulfilled, needs only to be tried.

I have seen people nearly shake in fear at any suggestion
that what they are doing borders on the occult. They have
been trained to know and understand by churches that the
"occult" is bad and fearful. Then, when they get to a
dictionary they find it only means something mysterious,
magical.

Why do we so readily accept what someone else says without
taking the time to check things out ourselves? Why do we not
look into the laws of our Maker to find life so much simpler
and happier? Why do we keep ourselves chained to the rest of
the flock when letting go would give us life and freedom?

Watch the words you use. Watch the words you accept. Watch
the words you live by. Watch the words by which you permit
yourself to be controlled.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 11 of 31

The study concluded that bacterial endotoxin or similar
factors may be related to myocardial infarction and
poor dental health and could not be excluded as
causative factors.

Heart Attack and Tooth Loss A study by K. Paunio showed
a relationship between missing teeth and coronary heart
disease. I find this significant because both
periodontal disease and decay can cause tooth loss.
While some studies have shown that decay is not a
direct risk factor in heart attack, it can and does
cause tooth loss, which has been demonstrated to be a
secondary factor in heart attack.

Stroke Dental infections have also been associated with
stroke. A study by J. Syrjänen showed a relationship
between dental infections and a bacterial infection
associated with cerebral infarction (stroke) in males.
Another study demonstrated that preceding infection is
an important risk factor for stroke, even when
controlled for other established common risk factors,
such as high blood pressure, smoking and alcohol use.

All dental and periodontal infections are of bacterial
origin. The causative organisms include a number of
harmful bacteria. Dental procedures can cause transient
bacteremia (presence of bacteria in the blood), but
even chewing can induce increased levels of bacteria in
the blood in the presence of poor oral health.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

"I guess if you want to bend spoons you can
although I have never done that nor do I see the
purpose other than it being theatrical. Higher law
requires you see through the veil of simplicity,
that you believe. Once you do that you will see."

"Now you're trying to have me believe I can do
anything with my mind, that I don't need money,
that I can have all I want just by believing.
That's preposterous."

"If you say so Shirley."

"Now don't do that to me. You don't get away
that easy. Is that what you are saying?"

"What I am saying is go read your bible and do
what Jesus told you to do. Look at Matthew 6:19-31
and Matthew 21: 21 & 22 for starters. Make up your
own mind."

Just then a call came in to those who lived by
higher law. Each of them excused themselves from
the person they were talking with and then
vanished.

All that were left were the folks from
Pinehill, plus Sam and Alewka. Quite suddenly the
place seemed vacant.

"Gather around, folks.Gather around."

The people, almost in shock, all came around
Sam. There were maybe 40 in all.

"This has been a wonderful wedding and we are
thrilled you were able to share it with us. We
will remember this for a long time. The people you
were conversing with are all people who live by
higher law. When you live by higher law you take
on an obligation to help mankind whenever he is in
trouble. Just a few minutes ago there was a
terrible earthquake in southwest Asia. Many are
dead and missing. We received a call to go help
and that is where all our guests went. I know that
seems to throw a damper on this party. It couldn't
be helped. Do any of you have any questions?"

"Sam, does this happen often?"

"No, Bill. We go to help out when there is a
catastrophe, and sometimes we go to help a person
become a master of higher law. We might have to go
out 18 to 24 times a year. Sometimes that is for
an hour and sometimes that will be for days. I
suspect this earthquake will take days. It was a
bad one. You will hear of it in the news."

"Sam, why do you have to go to these things? I
don't mind and I think it is great, but what I am
after is what is the obligation upon you?"

"Harry, it is the same old adage found in the
scriptures, 'Unto him to whom much is given, much
is expected.' It really means that when we have
been given so much, we are to use it for the good
of all mankind. That is what we try to do. The
folks that were here are now there helping out in
much the same way we did when Pinehill main street
blew up, if you recall."

"I think we all remember that, Sam. How is it
that some people can live by higher law and others
do not?"

"Stan, all people can live by higher law.
When, in the scriptures it is said that all men
are equal, that is what is meant. There is no
separation because of education, money, religion,
race, color or creed. All can live by higher law.
It is only a matter of choice and commitment."

"You mean to tell us, Sam, that all of us can
live by higher law?"

"Yes, Stan, I am. It is only a matter of you
dedicating yourself to doing that. Some of the
things you must do will require you to do things
you may not want to do. Consider that."

"What do you mean, Sam?"

"Jesus said that you must give up your life in
order to find it. He further said that you cannot
worship God and mammon. What he is saying is that
you must give up all you have, everything, and
that once you start you cannot go back you cannot
live partly by higher law and partly by the way of
the world."

"But, Sam, why must one give up all they
have?"

"It is quite simple, Stan. Where your treasure
is, there will your heart be also. If your
treasure is material goods your heart will
obviously be there and not with your Maker. If
your treasure is your Maker, then the other things
are no longer so important. It means you are no
longer attached to material goods. They are no
longer a bondage."

"What do you mean bondage, Sam?"

"Penny, when material goods are important to
you then your Maker is not. It is just that
simple. It is the old God and mammon thing. There
is no middle ground on this point. You either live
the life your Maker wants or you live the life of
man. When you want, own and take pride in material
goods it is very difficult for you to live the
life your Maker wants for you because you have to
give those things up in favor of your Maker. If
you do not then they are a bondage, holding you
back from what is rightfully yours."

HA! HA! HA!

Five surgeons are discussing who makes the best patients on
the operating table. The first surgeon says, "I like to see
accountants on my operating table, because when you open
them up, everything inside is numbered."

The second responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians!
Everything inside them is color coded."

The third surgeon says, "No, I really think librarians are
the best; everything inside them is in alphabetical order."

The fourth surgeon chimes in: "You know, I like construction
workers...those guys always understand when you have a few
parts left over at the end, and when the job takes longer
than you said it would."

But the fifth surgeon shut them all up when he observed:
"You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate
on. There are no guts, no heart, and no spine, and the head
and butt are interchangeable.
