Does everyone have organs in the same place in their bodies?
If you have your organs on the wrong side, will you be sick?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What are the only parts of the human body where hair DOESN'T
grow?
Even though it's not always visible, hair grows on MOST
parts of the human body. (In some places, it might be sparse
and light-colored and blend in with skin.) Hair does NOT
grow, however, on the palms of the hands, the soles of the
feet, eyelids, and lips.
Is the heart on the left side of the human body, or more
toward the center?
The heart typically lies almost in the center of the chest,
between the lungs. However, it is tipped slightly and a part
of it lies toward the left side of the chest, tapping
against the ribs when it contracts. That makes the heart
rhythm best heard on the left side, and makes it seem as if
the whole heart lies there.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
Home Is Where The Heart Is!
Late one night in Washington, a mugger wearing a ski mask
jumped into the path of a well-dressed man and stuck a gun
in his ribs.
"Give me your money!" he demanded.
Indignant, the affluent man replied, "You can't do this.
I'm a United States Congressman!"
"In that case," replied the robber, "give me my money!"
We love to razz the politicos don't we. In all democratic
countries I know of we are always complaining about how they
seem crooked, or do nothing, or spend all our money.
In fact it seems like a national pastime.
In all countries I have travelled this is so.
As I watch the news on television I am often impressed with
the nature of trouble we see around the world.
I see no trouble where a country is democratic. I see
trouble only where a country is run by a dictator.
In countries that do not like the way another country
conducts it's foreign policy, I see discussion, negotiation
and working things out, from democratic countries. I only
see war, revolution, killing, pain and destruction from
countries led by dictators.
Yet, one thing is true in all lands. Where we are born
becomes dear to us. The land where we spent our childhood is
one of our favorites. There is a soft spot in our hearts for
the land of our youth.
People will endure oppression, slavery and all manner of
ill, in their own country. And, when they are not in their
own country they will send all manner of money and other
help to those they left behind.
Yet spiritual teachers tell us not to lay up treasure here,
on earth. We are admonished to lay up treasure in the
"kingdom of God", that is to say that we are to place our
heart at the most important place in earth. It is not to be
with material goods. We are told that we will have all we
need and more when we lay up treasure in the "kingdom of
God".
These admonitions do not mean giving money to the church.
They mean to go deep inside and have a one on one
relationship with your Maker. Doing so will give you all
things in life you could ever want.
It does not mean to be a steady church goer, or to pray,
everyday, in some temple, synagogue or mosque. It means to
go inside and have a real and meaningful relationship with
your Maker.
We are told that when we do this then it will become the
most important thing in our lives. That will be our
"treasure" and where our treasure is there will our heart be
also.
Mastership comes to those who are so dedicated.
So often the churchgoer is far removed from what the
ancients taught. Too many times the perceived responsibility
toward a church is the one thing that keeps us from a
relationship with our Maker.
And when we go inside we soon learn that our "home", our
"temple" is the body we live in and that we can speak one on
one with our Maker at any instant, that by learning how to
go inside we can also "hear" what we are being told, that
the relationship with our Maker offers a "two way
conversation".
Go inside, learn to meditate and hear your Maker speaking to
you. Learn to place your heart at the alter of your life and
there will be your treasure and your home.
If you would have peace, on earth, go inside. If you would
stop bloodshed, go inside. If you would have your neighbor
love and respect you, go inside. If you would have your
enemy treat you well, go inside. If you would overcome
trials and tribulation, go inside. If you would see your
Maker, go inside.

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 13 of 31
Diabetes It has long been known that diabetes affects
periodontal disease. New studies show that the reverse
is also true: periodontal disease can affect diabetes.
In an important work by B.L. Mealy, the author cites
numerous studies that indicate that the presence and
severity of gum disease can increase the risk of poor
glycemic control. One study clearly illustrates the
relationship between gum disease and diabetes. When
compared to diabetic patients with minimal gum disease,
those with severe gum disease have a significantly
greater prevalence of protein in the urine
(proteinuria) and a greater number of cardiovascular
complications. These include stroke and transient
ischemic attack (TIA)a stroke-like event lasting
minutes, or hours, that occurs when the brain is
deprived of oxygen-rich blood but in which the effects
wear off completely after resumption of blood-flow. The
study concludes that the association between disease
related to diabetes and severe periodontitis in
diabetic individuals requires attention and close
cooperation between the physician and dentist.
Several other studies reported by Mealy state that
treating periodontal complications implicated in
diabetes may actually improve metabolic control of the
underlying diabetic disease state.
These studies are important for at least two reasons.
First, periodontal disease has been shown to affect the
control of diabetes. Second, the American Heart
Association now includes diabetes as a major risk
factor for heart disease, ranking it with high blood
pressure and smoking. Thus, we witness an unfortunate
connection: diabetes is on the rise; it is a risk
factor for heart disease; and periodontal disease is a
risk factor in both.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"All of you are aware of that pretty 16 year
old lady Tlang, the one my son is taken with. Many
of you spoke with her after the ceremony, and were
not aware that until that moment she could not
speak a word of English. Yet her pronunciation and
diction was perfect was it not?"
Still the crowd was answering "Yes."
"What I am trying to show all of you is there
is no difference, but in thinking only, between
you and the rest of the guests that were here at
the wedding. All of them broadcast love. All of
them placed you and your concerns first, before
theirs. All of them were deeply interested in who
and what you are. They are all very fine people.
They came from all over the world to share with
us. Think not ill of those who live by higher law.
Their lives are exactly the same as yours except
they have decided to live by a different belief
system. They are as entitled as you are to choose
how, where, and when they will live. They can
choose, too, what they will believe, just as you
choose."
"You make a powerful case, Sam. And you and
the Smithsons throw a fantastic wedding. Thank you
for inviting my wife and I. We enjoyed it."
"Thank you for coming, Jack."
That good bye from Jack seemed to be the
trigger, the signal, for everyone to leave. They
all came and paid their respects and offered their
thanks, then left, all that is but one.
That one was a woman by the name of Mildred
Johnstone. She was a young woman, long blond hair,
very pretty. Yet she was not taken with her own
beauty. Instead she had a heart that was full of
love of life, of people and especially of kids.
Mildred was a teacher. As she approached Sam,
Alewka, Bob and Harriett, she did not want to say
good bye.
"Mr. and Mrs. Henry, Mr. and Mrs. Smithson,
thank you for this wonderful wedding. I cannot
quite remember when I have had such a beautiful
time. Mr. Henry, may I speak with you?"
"Certainly MIldred." That Sam knew her name
was a bit of a surprise to her. She was nearly in
tears.
Sam knew what she wanted. His heart went out
to her. As they walked over to the cabin to find
seats Sam stopped and took her hand. She stopped
and looked directly into his eyes. She knew that
he knew what she wanted. Sam pulled her to him and
hugged her for a long time, all the while
broadcasting love unto her.
She melted into his arms and absorbed all the
love Sam could offer.
When Sam released her she said, "Mr. Henry, I
want to live by higher law. I am a teacher and I
am beginning to think I am teaching the wrong
things. I was moved by what I saw at this wedding.
Not only Jesus, but with the people, the love they
gave and the knowledge they all have. I know it is
what I want."
"Then, Mildred, all you must do is believe.
Your heart is kind, loving and as I see your past,
you have always leaned in the direction of your
Maker. You just have not found exactly the right
course, even though you have been looking. Study
the law 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap.' Always give
love only unto all people, man, woman or child.
When I speak of love I am not referring to carnal
love but the love of your Maker. Go inside and
meet your Maker and from then on know that
whatever you believe shall come to pass. You are
welcome to visit Alewka and myself anytime you
wish, day or night. We will be there for you. In
addition, until you become used to living by
higher law I will keep an eye on you, to keep you
on the right track, so to speak. I will not
impose, but I will guide. How's that?"
"Oh, Mr. Henry. That would be wonderful. May I
stay now for a while?"
"Of course, Mildred, of course."
They walked over to where the Smithsons were
talking with Alewka.
"Mildred has chosen to live by higher law."
Alewka walked up to Mildred and put her arms
around her. "Welcome, Mildred." The love that
flowed between then was nearly visible. "Come,
join us. Stay around a while."
"Well, Bob, Harriett, I think that was a very
successful wedding. What do yo think?"
"Sam, I don't think it is possible to make it
any better. It not only got the job done, but I
think everyone enjoyed themselves immensely."
"Harriett, that was some cake. I notice there
was none left over. Whatever you did when you
baked it must have been great. It's all gone."
"Thank you Alewka. Bob and I want to thank you
and Sam for having the wedding here. There must
have been 300 to 400 people here. What a crowd. Do
you know all those people?"

HA! HA! HA!
Our mom needed a new mattress for her antique bed, so my
brother and I decided to buy her one as a gift. The problem
was we weren't sure what to get, because the bed was an odd
size. Fortunately, my brother happened to be visiting my
mother one day when I called home.
"Measure the bed frame before you leave," I told him.
"I don't have a tape measure."
"You can use a dollar bill," I suggested, "each one is six
inches long."
"Can't," he replied after digging through his wallet, "I
only have a ten."
