Landis gives positive drugs test.
Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has given a positive
drugs test, according to his Phonak team.
The 30-year-old American, who claimed victory in the Tour de
France on Sunday, has tested positive for the male sex
hormone testosterone.
The positive test came after stage 17 of the Tour, which saw
Landis record an epic victory after struggling on the final
climb the day before.
Landis has been suspended pending results of his B sample
analysis.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced on Wednesday
that a rider had failed a doping test but would not reveal
his name.
"The Phonak Cycling Team was notified on Wednesday by the
UCI of an unusual level of testosterone/epitestosterone
ratio in the test made on Floyd Landis after stage 17 of the
Tour de France," said a team statement.
"The team management and the rider were both totally
surprised of this physiological result.
"The rider will ask in the upcoming days for the counter
analysis (B sample) to prove either that this result has
come from a natural process or that this is the result of a
mistake."
Phonak have also said that if the second sample confirms the
positive test, Landis will be sacked.
"In application of the Pro Tour Ethical Code, the rider will
not race anymore until this problem is totally clear," the
statement added.
"If the result of the B sample analysis confirms the result
of the A sample, the rider will be dismissed and will then
pass the corresponding endocrinological examinations."
Landis had already withdrawn from two races in Europe this
week, Wednesday's Acht van Chaam street race in the
Netherlands and Thursday's Jyske Bank Grand Prix in Denmark.
"Today, Phonak confirmed the cancellation. They could not
say anything about why Landis has disappeared," said Jyske
Bank Grand Prix spokesman Nils Finderup.
"We have tried to call him, to call his agent, and to call
the head of the Phonak team, but no one has answered."
Organisers of the Acht van Chaam event were also angry at
Landis' no-show.
"We have tried to contact Floyd and his manager but we have
not been able to," said race agent John van den Akker.
"We are very annoyed. We have invested a lot of money to
ensure his appearance and we would have expected some kind
of explanation."
Landis finished 57 seconds ahead of Spain's Oscar Pereiro in
the general classification to claim his first Tour de France
title last weekend.

In reviewing their meds, I would then refer them back
to their doctor, with my BP reading or concerns about
their side effects. Please don’t get me wrong. I have
worked with many great doctors. They have a tough job
to do. Our culture wants instant results, with no
inconvenience…yesterday. But any drug you put into your
body reacts with both your body’s chemistry and the
drugs. That is what their purpose is. But they also
react with each other, and you may not like the
results. Let me give you an example I often use. If you
mix flour, eggs, and milk, you get one (delicious)
“pudding” that many people serve along with their roast
beef. But take that same flour, eggs, milk, and now add
yeast; you get a totally different result. Then add
other ingredients, and the results are different again.
If this is happening in nature, don’t you think it
might happen in your body? So if you have a
prescription filled, please take the time to read any
accompanying information. Ask about side effects.
Someone has to have them. I also teach people that if
they cannot live with the possible side effects or
complications of any treatment, they need to stop and
assess their perceived risk. These side effects or
complications, by law, have to be listed. They happen
to real people like you and me. They are there to warn
you that it might be possible for you to get these
potentially harmful results as well.
This clinic to my way of thinking had all the right
ingredients: pharmacist, registered dietician,
registered nurse, display of foods, handouts of current
information, snack displays and a nutrition/cookbook.
The dietician prepared a very appetizing and appealing
display of foods for a diabetic diet. This same food
information would help with hypertension and high
cholesterol. What does that means? That food is crucial
in your search for health. I used to tell newly
diagnosed patients in my hospital days that if you had
to have an illness, choose diabetes. It would be
controlled by food (diet) and everyone in your family
would know how to eat a healthy way. Everyone has to
watch what went into their mouths. It is essentiality
the only way to get nutrients into your body and to
have them change into energy and become part of your
metabolism. Along with water and air, you don’t need
more.

Man's greed is forever causing him trouble. Look at the
title article today. Landis wanted the title so bad he had
to cheat to get it.
Why do men do this? Do they think they will not be found
out? Do they not understand the law "As ye sow, so shall ye
reap."?
What is the stupidity in man that drives him to wanting
more? Why can man not be satisfied with just being man and
just living? Why must he have all he lays his eyes on?
The biggest problem the U.S. government faces all over the
world is that people are sick and tired of the U.S. taking
all it sees. It leaves nothing for a people who live in an
area. It takes all the wealth, plus expects the people of a
country to do as the U.S. says. People all around the world
are rebelling at that kind of attitude and behavior. Yet
the U.S. continues its greedy ways.
And individuals within the U.S. do it. So do U.S. citizens
outside the U.S. Why can't they simply accept life the way
it is without the continual taking?
At one point in history England did exactly the same thing.
There are countries all over the world, now free from
England, that are missing things like national treasures,
all taken by the English. There was a revolt against England
and there will be a revolt against the U.S. Indeed there
already is and it is at the core of world opinion concerning
the U.S. It is certainly at the core of peoples reactions
toward U.S. citizens abroad.
Greed and avarice lead to trouble. It is clearly unavoidable
and while some may think they can manage the backlash when
it comes, the backlash will, sooner or later, become too
much to handle.
History shows time and time again what happens when those
who think they can control others and take advantage of that
situation. Sooner or later the bubble breaks and the house
of cards comes crashing down. The U.S. is presently acting
like most men act. They think they are invincible. Time will
tell.
