TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

Do dogs in the wild bark?

Should I be afraid of a loudly barking dog?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

How big are hummingbirds?

Tiny, with a few exceptions. Hummingbirds range in size
from two to eight inches. The tiniest is the bee hummingbird,
which measures just 1.75 inches and weighs about
0.08 ounces. The giant hummingbird, however, is more the
size of a regular bird - about eight inches. It still weighs
very little - about 0.7 ounces.

Is it true that each "human" year equals seven "dog" years?

No, not exactly. Dogs mature very fast in their early years.
However, most of their growth occurs during the first two years.
After that, development slows down. A one-year-old dog is
like a teenage human and a two-year-old dog is like an adult
in his mid-twenties. Only when the dog is older--more than
ten--does a single dog year equal about seven human years.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!™
with Dr. Rhoberta Shaler
---------------------

YOUR 168 HOURS
by Rhoberta Shaler, PhD

In every week you have 168 hours to use as you wish.
Do you really know how you spend them? A general
idea of what you do with your time is not nearly as
instructional as a clear understanding. Here is an
exercise to help you clarify.

Take a letter-size piece of paper and draw a large
circle on it. To the right of the circle, write these words
in a vertical list: family, career, grooming, sleep, exercise,
driving, community, household, recreation, time
alone...add any that are important to you. Now, beside
each item, put the number of hours in an average week
that you spend on it. When you are done, change
those numbers into a percentage of your 168 hours/week.
Now, to really make an impact, make a pie graph in
the circle of the ways you spend your time.

If, by any chance, you simply read the above paragraph
without doing the exercise, and are now reading this,
STOP! Nothing changes until you do. If you do not know
how you spend your time, you will not receive the full
benefit of the ideas in this article. It is not enough to
be saying to yourself, "I know that I need more time
for ______." If that is so this exercise will help you
find it. Please, won't you go back and make the
chart now? (This may be one of the ways you
short-change yourself in your daily life. You may
not give yourself time to do the good and beneficial
things that you know would improve your life. Is that
a pattern for you?)

Once you have your pie divided, ask yourself if the
graph well represents the importance of each item to
you at this time in your life. You may have to have quite
a conversation with yourself to determine this.
Remember, there are not any right answers...just right
answers for you!

If you find that your graph fits your priorities, you will be
experiencing contentment. If not, you may want to
make some adjustments.

ALWAYS REMEMBER----WHAT YOU PAY
ATTENTION TO EXPANDS!

THE ROLE OF MULTIVITAMINS
IN DEGENERATIVE CONDITIONS
by Karin Henderson
PART 2 of 10

Send a blank email -
mailto:multivitamins@the-pebble.com
(Two studies by AMA)

I guess the question can be asked "so why can't we
live full and meaningful lives without degeneration?"
Life runs in cycles and the ageing process is part of
that cycle. However, the degeneration of our bodies
is not. It has lots of causes and many are still open to
debate. What the two studies are basically saying
is …feed your body a complete selection of nutrients
and degenerative conditions may not be a problem.
The normal ageing process has the body systems
working at a less than optimum pace and the actions
are less effective, but this is NOT degeneration.
However, with care and good lifestyle habits, many
seniors are very active and healthy. So the degenerative
process is not bonded to age. Our bodies do change
and adjust and adapt without degeneration.
Why should you be interested in something that may
or may not happen to you...ten years down the road
of life? Nursing homes are filled with elderly people
with these degenerative conditions. (These homes
have very few "well" seniors.) But what is also very
tragic is the number of younger men and women
who are now getting these conditions much earlier
than what we think is a "normal old" age. These
places are no picnic for older people, let alone a
forty-year-old gal who is completely crippled with
arthritis...from over-exercising! Or the 45 year old
gal whose family couldn't cope with her MS any
longer and she is now living her life as best she
can...depending on her day to day capability
to manoeuvre.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

The ladies woke up soaking wet. It had not rained.
It was just so hot they perspired merely from the
effort of breathing. It was uncomfortable.

With no effort at all they immediately cleaned
themselves off, and created an "envelope" around
themselves that was cool and acceptable. That way
they would be able to make progress in this
stifling heat.

Within minutes of rising, stretching, and getting
the sleep out of their eyes, they were on their
way.

"Have a good sleep last night?" asked Susan.

"You bet. I always sleep good." answered Mae.

They walked through an area that was a bit of a
ram shackle town. The buildings were in a poor
state of repair, and there were some that were
just thrown together pieces of wood and tin.

Animals were up and scrounging for food.
The birds were singing, the sun was already high
and the sky was clear, so far.

"You know, I think I want a staff. It looks like
it makes walking easier." said Mae, and in that
instant she materialized a staff in her hand.

As they walked along she became used to it and by
the end of the day she was quite at home with it.
It did make walking easier. She enjoyed it.

As they walked they gradually left the city and
its environs. Like most cities, the outer areas
were not the prettiest. There were poor folk in
every city. Yet Mae and Susan had noticed that,
while poor, these folks seemed happy. People in
this part of the world did not look at material
goods with the same eyes westerners did.

The ladies carried on. About four or five hours
into their walk they came across a man who had a
table full of oranges at the side of the road.
They stopped and bought a couple, as did many who
were passing.

The oranges were delicious and juicy. They proved
to be a terrific thirst quencher. Mae and Susan
left blessings wherever they went, silent
beneditions unto the people they passed, met,
dealt with. Everyone felt better and wonderful
having been within a hundred feet of them. They
were being viewed as holy people.

Walking on Mae figured they were likely averaging
about four miles an hour.

They walked among the other traffic on the road.
That included carts drawn by oxen, elephants,
people on bicycles, others walking, and amongst
all that were cars trying to get from one place to
the other. The cars clearly took the right of way.
It was up to the pedestrian or other traffic to
watch out for cars, for the drivers of cars
beligerently did not care if they hit anyone.

The further they walked the thinner the traffic
became, and, eventually, at one spot anyway, they
went for an hour without seeing any traffic at
all. They were completely alone.

During that short period they could get a "feel"
for the countryside. They listend to the birds,
the wind, the land. This was a good land. Often
they would see vultures circling, looking for
carrion.

"Make yourself a staff, Susan. I'm getting to like
this. It makes walking easier. You'll enjoy it. If
not then you can easily send it back to the
ethers." said Mae.

Susan did.

"Now, in the quiet, what do you think of this
land?" asked Mae.

"I like it Mae. The people are all friendly and
I've noticed no cause to be concerned about our
persons. They are all so polite, courteous,
helpful. I like these people." answered Susan.

"That's good. We're going to be here a while.
Getting hungry?" asked Mae.

"Yes, I am. Why don't we go sit by the side of the
road over there, in the shade of that big tree,
and have a bite to eat?" said Susan.

They walked off the road to sit under the tree
Susan had pointed out. The trees were pretty thick
in this area. Much of the road was in shade most
of the day.

Sitting down, Mae manifested a vegetable plate on
a lotus leaf. She offered some to Susan. The girls
ate.
