TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
Do identical twins have the same fingerprints?
What does "M&M" stand for?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What literary character sold his shadow?
Peter Schlemiel, a character dreamt up by French
author Adelbert von Chamisso, sells his shadow in the
1814 classic novella "Peter Schlemiel: The Man Who
Sold His Shadow". The sale makes him a rich man,
but ruins his life, causing others to despise and fear
him and resulting in the loss of his true love, Mina.
How are fraternal twins and identical twins different?
Fraternal twins come from two separate eggs and sperm
and are no more alike than regular siblings. The twins
can be boys, girls, or one of each. Identical twins, which
are much more rare, come from a single egg that splits
in two early in pregnancy and develops into two fetuses.
Identical twins are always the same sex and have the
same blood type, hair color, and eye color. They look
very much alike.

Are You Interested In Music?
by Ken Darby
The trials and tribulations of the music industry, in
trying to get to a point where folks are no longer
pirating their copyrighted material, may be coming
to an end.
The people over at Apple iTunes seem to have
come across a formula that makes even teens
think music is affordable.
I thought you might like to see what's happening
with the internet and music these days.
Here is an excerpt from eMarketer Daily for June 4/04
----------------START EXCERPT
NPD's MusicWatch reports that the average price of
a full-length CD fell between Q1 2004 and Q1 2003
by close to 4%.
CD prices have been steadily declining since Q4
2002, but this past year's drop represents the
sharpest year-over-year fall in the past three years.
The year-over-year decline in the average cost of
a CD to Q4 2003 was 2.5% and from Q3 2002 to
Q3 2003 the drop didn't even total a full 1%.
Ask most illegal music downloaders why they
choose to risk the consequences of illegally sharing
digital music files online, and they are likely to tell
you that the price of CDs is too high. Indeed Harris
Interactive found that nearly 50% of the teenagers
said in 2003 they illegally download music online
because they thought it was too expensive to buy
music. A number of studies have been released
over the years with similar responses.
Apple's online music store iTunes is an alternative
to the downloaders versus record industry issue.
At the end of April, iTunes announced it had sold
over 70 million songs, priced at $0.99 each, after
being in business for exactly one year. On May 5,
the company reported that it had sold 3.3 million
songs in one week.
Microsoft is getting into the game too, hoping to
challenge Apple's iTunes/iPod offering with a
just-released beta of Windows Media Player 10.
The new software will allow users to play music
from digital subscription services like Napster.
However, people will not be able to take full
advantage of the new offering until multimedia
devices analgous to iPods but compatible with
Microsoft's Portable Media Center are released
with the final version of the software in the Fall
of 2004. Creative Technology, iRiver and Samsung
will produce the portable devices.

THE ROLE OF MULTIVITAMINS
IN DEGENERATIVE CONDITIONS
by Karin Henderson
PART 7 of 10
Send a blank email -
mailto:multivitamins@rr-email.com
(Two studies by AMA)
PARKINSON'S DISEASE is another degenerative
brain disorder, (Michael J. Fox). Sometimes trauma,
exposure to some chemicals or side affects of drugs
show these kind of symptoms, but generally the disease
appears after age 40 and is referred to as Parkinson's
disease. The disorder is also called "shaking palsy". In
well people, the chemical, Dopamine, which is needed
in a certain part of the brain to facilitate the electrical
transmission between nerve cells, is in ample supply.
With Parkinson's, it is depleted. Symptoms usually begin
in middle to later life with trembling of the lips and hands,
loss of facial expression, pill rolling of the fingers, and
muscular rigidity. As it progresses it may bring on body
tremors, especially when the muscles are at rest.
Movements become slow and difficult. Walking becomes
a shuffle. Eventually it leads to physical disability, often
a wheelchair. Dementia occurs in at least 50% of the
patients. Depression is also common. Early detection is
very helpful. Slowing the progression of the disease has
been demonstrated through the use of nutritional
supplementation. Traditional surgery can alleviate
some tremors, and physical therapy may help mobility.
Parkinson's disease is a debilitating and progressive
disorder. Again it doesn't need to end this way.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

In spite of her fears, the power and drawing
effect of love made Shing Li's decision easy.
"I will stay with you." she said.
Mae and Susan knew, of course, the decision would
go that way, for they knew Shing Li's thinking.
"Good, then let's get under way. How many days
have you been traveling Shing Li?" asked Mae.
"My village three days away." answered Shing Li.
"Well then we'll have some walking to do. That's
good."
The ladies, now including Shing Li, plus her
children, luggage and pig, all marched along in a
casual kind of a way. The rains were continuing
and they passed many who were sitting at the side
of the road trying to stay dry.
As they did so the people at the side of the road
would take on different reactions. Some would
point and talk about how these people were able to
walk in the rain. Others cowered as if they were
seeing something magical or all powerful. Still
others, as is the way with people, became agitated
and bordered on anger. That is what happens when
people don't understand what is happening.
In all cases Susan and Mae broadcast love unto
them. And in all cases it was received warmly.
Soon they came upon a man who was still trying to
move on the slippery roads. He was angry. He had a
cart that was being pulled by two oxen. They were
having a terrible time moving, keeping their
balance, standing. They did not want to continue.
The man was whipping them. One had an open wound
on it's back from the whip.
Mae broadcast love unto the man. He shot back
looks of anger.
"Why do you whip these animals? They cannot move
in this rain. Get down here. Not even you can walk
in this stuff." said Mae.
The man responded in anger. He had seen them walk
up without difficulty, including the pig, and he
thought all could walk in this quagmire.
He took his whip and took a long look at Mae. Then
he threw his arm and the whip was on it's way to
her. It was a particulary strong swing. The whip
would have cut well into an ordinary person.
Mae saw it coming and saw the whip moving right on
past her and the group. The change took the man by
surprise and yanked him right off the cart and
face first into the mud. His attempts to stand
were nothing short of humorous. Any movement in
this mud was impossible. The only safe and logical
thing to do was to get off the road and sit it
out.
The man floundered in the mud making several
attempts to rise. Finally on his fourth attempt he
made it to his feet. He was so exhausted, wet,
muddy and confused, he was no longer angry, though
sullen.
He picked up his whip, walked to the front of his
animals, took their harness and as best they could
he led his team off the road and onto the grass at
the side of the road. They waited out the storm.
The little group of women kept on their way.
Looking back Mae could see the burning, sullen
look in the eyes of the man now at the side of the
road.
The rest of the trip that day was uneventful. The
rains stopped after about four hours of steady and
hard downpour. It would take at least another day
of warm sunshine to make the road once more
passable to traffic.
At night the group got off the road and into a
meadow.
Mae dried the area, and set up a "zone" wherein it
was warm, dry and comfortable. They were also
invisible, so as to avoid threatening situations.
"We shall stay here the night." she said.
"But Miss Mae," as Shing Li had come to call her,
"we may be bothered by travellers, if they see us.
Most are not bothered, but women alone draw
attention."
"Fear not Shing Li, we are invisible to anyone
passing by. We will sleep here the night and
continue our journey in the morning." said Mae.
