TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What's the difference between rocks and minerals?

Is it true that there are more psychiatric admissions
during a full moon?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

How are rocks formed?

It depends on the type of rock. There are three types:
igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks
are formed when molten rock, such as lava within
volcanoes, cools and hardens. Sedimentary rocks are
formed from many layers of rock and soil that are squeezed
together over many years. This type of rock is found in
oceans or lakes or other bodies of water or where a body
of water once existed. Metamorphic rock is formed when
igneous, sedimentary, or other metamorphic rock is
changed by heat and pressure deep within the earth.
A rock can begin as one type and change into another.

In the last 30 years only seven people have been killed by a
polar bear in Canada.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

TITLE ARTICLE - - -
-----------------

From The Lips Of A Child
by Ken Darby

A group of students was asked to list what they thought
were the present Seven Wonders of the World. Though
there was some disagreement, the following got the
most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one
quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet, so she
asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.

The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up
my mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and
maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders
of the World are: 1. TO SEE 2. TO TASTE 3. TO TOUCH
4. TO HEAR."

She hesitated a little, and then added,

"5. TO FEEL
6. TO LAUGH
7. AND TO LOVE."

The room was so full of silence you could have heard
a pindrop.

From time to time you come across a child who seems
to have the inside track to their Maker.

While all of us, usually at a young age, have experiences
that reveal to us a power beyond our normal selves,
some appear to have listened more than others. Such
is this little girl.

I have made the study of myself and of others my life's
work. It has always been important to me to witness how
others react to situations. In a whole classroom of kids
only this one chose to consider the real miracles of life.

That is typical of life, and yet I say to you that when you
are quiet, calm and in a meditative state, you can make
real progress toward your goals and objectives simply
by listening to what you are being told from "inside".

Learn to listen to that still, small voice. That will lead
you to where you want to go and it will do the job faster
than any conscious thinking and enthusiastic effort on
your part. Strength and power does not lie in the bold
and loud but in the quiet and calm. Learn this and you
become strong.

There are many who mock this approach. Do not
succumb to their taunting. You know where you want
to go and it is you who must lead the way. Those who
taunt are only trying to keep you at the level they are.

You have, within you, the power to realize the things
you dream about. The voices you must listen to come
from "inside" not from the outside world. Constant,
persistent following of what you are told from "inside"
will achieve your objective much faster than any
other method.

That is the message this little girl was really trying
to give us.

Word 2002

Left tabs are the standard, tabs.

Left tabs are called such because text typed after you press the
tab aligns its left side to the tab stop in Word 2002. Each bit
of text will line up its left edge with the tab stop, but
pressing the Spacebar won't do this. You must use a tab stop!

To make a new left tab stop for your current paragraph, follow
these steps:

Type the paragraph you want to stick the tabs in.

Consider typing the text first. That's because one tab stop
does the trick. Just type your text, pressing the Tab key
once -- no matter how far you eventually want the text to go
over. Too many people press the Tab key three or four times.
That's okay, but it's inefficient. Word is smarter than
that. Use the Tab key only once, and then use the ruler to
set the tab stop.

Make sure that the toothpick cursor is in the paragraph
you want to change.

Choose the left tab stop from the Tab button.

Keep clicking the Tab button until the Left tab appears, as
shown in the margin.

Click the mouse in the ruler where you want a new tab
stop.

For example, the first tab stop may be set at 1.25 inches,
the second at 2.5 inches, and the third at 4 inches.

My Thoughts On Suicide Prevention
PART 3 of 6

In situations where I have been personally involved, I
really don't think it's a matter of not wanting to live. (I also
don't think it is an issue of punishment to those left behind.)
I really think it's a matter of not having anything to live
"towards". What's the point of getting up to do ...what?
What's the point of doing a job ...for what? Put yourself
in their place. What if all your friends are just like you
and you KNOW this is a dead-end path…and you don't
know HOW to pull yourself away from them ...again to
what? Wouldn't this then be the nicest and gentlest
way out? You couldn't get unbiased help from them to
change your future, so where else can you turn….

Let's say you are faced with one of these situations ... you
have a real desire to paint (fine art) for a living, yet your
family needs your financial help. Or you want to become
a cowboy, yet your family heritage is a long line of
distinguished scholars. Imagine your dilemma: your
feelings of frustration, your sense of entrapment! None
of these goals are right or wrong: they are different, but
the wishes of others are very strong. You might have
what some people feel are unrealistic expectations, but
your dreams are YOUR OWN: not someone else's. That's
what makes you unique! So how could you possibly
move TO any directions? Wouldn't it be better just to
leave? So if you are at the beginning of your life, or are
sunk into a "less than wholesome" lifestyle, who do you
find to help. The last thing you need is someone to try
to jolly you up. Or to criticize you for your choices. Or
offer programs that don't fit your needs. Again, you don't
even know what your needs are ...apart from food, shelter,
and acceptance!

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"That seems like a pretty harsh way of looking at
things Shing Li. Are you sure about your
observations?" asked Susan.

"Yes, I am sure. It is not harsh Miss Susan. It is
just the way it is. It does not bother me. I do
not take it personal. That is just the way things
are." responded Shing Li, "Shall we have something
to eat?"

At that point Mae took steps. She knew Shing Li
had a problem finding enough money to eat, feed
her family, and put clothes on their back.

Mae closed her eyes, and concentrated. Soon a box,
about a foot and a half wide, eight to ten inches
tall and a foot and a half from front to back,
appeared on the floor.

"Shing Li, that is a magic box. It will work only
for you. Whenever you want something to eat, you
must envision what it is you want. When you reach
into the box you will see it there. Take it out
and eat it. There will always be enough for you
and your family. It does not come to you free. You
will have to sew one garment a month to give away
to someone who is needy within the village. So
long as you do this there will always be food for
you in the box. You can gain the other things you
need by sewing clothing and selling or trading it
in the village for those things you want." said
Mae.

"Miss Mae! You mean all I have to do is reach in
the box and what I want to eat will be there?"
asked Shing Li, somewhat incredulously.

"Envision what you want to eat, right now, and
then stick your hand in the box and let's see."
said Mae.

Shing Li did as she was told. She closed her eyes
and envisioned what she would like to eat and to
serve to her guests. Then, without hesitation, she
reached into the box and brought out the exact
meal she had envisioned.

"This is wonderful. Thank you." and she once more
got on her hands and knees, bowing to Mae.

Mae reached down to take hold of her shoulders and
bring her up to a standing position.

"Shing Li you don't bow to me. I am not your
Maker. Your Maker lives inside you. I am merely a
person who has learned higher law and am able to
use it to help those in need. You notice I told
you this is not free. You must do things for it.
Do you remember what it was I told you had to be
done?" said Mae.

"I am to sew one free garment a month and give it
away to someone in the village who is needy."
answered Shing Li.

"Yes, Shing Li. You are to give that garment,
every garment you give away, freely, without any
thought of return and you must give it willingly
from your heart, with only the thought of serving
your community. You must look for nothing in
return, you must expect nothing." said Mae.

"I will do this Miss Mae. Thank you. Thank you.
Shall we sit and eat this wonderful food, before
it cools off?" she asked.

The three ladies sat down and enjoyed the terrific
meal. As well Shing Li fed her baby. They all sat
and chatted for quite a while.

Following lunch they went out and sat on the
porch, watching the village. It was now late in
the afternoon and the village was in shade. The
rice paddies were still in sunlight and there were
still workers in the fields, but the village was
in shade and the heat was no longer as intense as
when in full sun.

Mae wondered whether there was a clock or a watch
in the village. She wondered how the villagers
told the time. Within seconds she was told.

The entire village moved in time to the rhythms of
the day. The time was measured by the position of
the sun agains the mountains, and the amount of
light available in the day. The village had one
person who marked off the days on a tablet in the
village common. On there he marked the full moon
and the quarters. By keeping track they knew when
there would be celebration days and the like.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"Promise yourself to be strong that nothing can disturb
your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and
prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your
friends feel that there is something in them. To look at
the sunny side of everything and make your optimism
come true. To think only of the best, to work only for
the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success
of others as you are about your own. To forget the
mistakes of the past and press on to the greater
achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful
countenance at all times and give every living creature
you meet a smile. To give so much to the improvement
of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To
be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong
for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble."

One day my housework-challenged husband decided to
wash his sweatshirt.

Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he
shouted to me, "What setting do I use on the washing
machine?"

"It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your

He yelled back, "University of Oklahoma."
