TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

Is it true that more babies are born during the full moon?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What's the difference between rocks and minerals?

Minerals are what make up rocks. ALL rocks are composed
of minerals, even those at the bottom of the ocean and those
on the moon. So what's a mineral? Well, if it's a natural
substance that is not animal, plant, liquid, or gas - it's a
good bet that it's mineral!

Is it true that there are more psychiatric admissions
during a full moon?

The moon has always been associated with lunacy. The
word "lunacy," in fact, is derived from "luna," a name for the
moon. But is it true, as folklore suggests, that the full moon
drives men mad? Scientists say it does not. According to
an article by Bob Berman in the September 2003 Discover
magazine, several studies have found no correlation
between the full moon and mental illness or the full moon
and suicides. Other studies have found no connection
between lunar phases and admissions to psychiatric
hospitals. In fact, the only study that DID claim to find a
correlation found that mental crises appeared to be
LOWEST during the full moon.

(Excerpt from eMarketerDaily for June 11,04)

FTC Asked to Halt Online Advertising to
Kids, Tweens and Teens
June 11, 2004

The Federal Trade Commission has been urged to
subpoena research documents.

It may be far from happening, but as an indication
of a growing grassroots frustration with online marketing,
and many parent's fears, the Center for Digital Democracy
(CDD), a public advocacy group, has written a letter to
the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) chairman,
Timothy J. Muris, and four fellow commissioners, asking
for a review and analysis of the interactive marketing and
branding technologies and techniques used by advertisers
to target children in the US.

Specifically, the CDD requested that the FTC subpoena
research documents and other evidence from online
marketers and marketing agencies, research and
audience measurement firms concerning the underlying
"nature" of the techniques used to market to children
and teens.

Stating that the "immersive, relational, and ubiquitous
nature of such marketing raises serious questions about
the ability of existing safeguards and rules to protect our
nation's children and young people," the CDD urged the
commission to obtain any needed documents, including
proprietary research studies. The CDD also called on
the ad industry to adopt a moratorium on all interactive
techniques that -- in the absence of independent
research suggesting otherwise -- could potentially harm
or negatively affect children and youth.

CDD Executive Director Jeffrey Chester said the nation's
parents, educators, and health professionals should be
concerned about the impact that such digital technologies
have on the psychosocial development of children. "We
know that the advertising industry is wielding powerful
new tools that track and target the 'behavior' of the online
and interactive audience."

Clearly upset by the unknown nature of online advertising,
Mr. Chester said, "How this marketing affects such critical
developmental issues as cognition/brain development,
identity formation, and the emotional system must be well
understood prior to its use on the child-to-teen audience."

Similar concerns were voiced in the early days of television.
But anxiety seems heightened today because of the
one-to-one and personalized tracking claims of many
online agencies and ad serving companies.

My Thoughts On Suicide Prevention
PART 4 of 6

Amongst some of my more glaring faults was criticism.
(I told you these were my personal thoughts, so this is
confession time!) I thought I was supposed to judge
everything (I was trained to do that.) and then tell the
person, who was wrong, just how they should improve!!!
I learned the very hard way that this was totally
unacceptable. Life became much easier once I realized
I didn't have to fix anything except myself. !

We are so quick to place our values and expectations
on someone who we love for "their" good! Who are we
to tell them what to do with their lives? Wouldn't it make
more sense to realize that by letting them follow their
dreams, they are at least using their talents? And those
special talents are appropriate to drive those dreams.
Science has proven that repeatedly.

Please realize that I am not saying let your child do just
anything. If that is what you want to do, and many people
do, then pay close attention to what they are watching on
TV or video or at the movies. Their minds are like sponges
and they have no filtering system ...except you ...to keep
the negative or harmful thoughts out. And it isn't the
responsibility of the media to filter your child's
information: it is yours. Children and adults don't
want to admit they are afraid in case they are the only
one. Little do they know that almost everyone is fearful!

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------

Here every day was much the same as every other
day. The seasons did not change too much except
the winter was cooler and brought the rains, while
the summer was hot. They had no snow and here they
had not had freezing in recorded memory, though
the cooler and wetter winter days required more
clothing.

The people lived their day according to the rhythm
set by the sun. They planted crops according to
the rhythm set by the seasons. They married
according to the rhythm of the body. They took on
responsibilities in the village according to the
rhythm of their age. Everything here was tied to
the earth and the patterns and timing it set.

In the evening the people would mingle and visit.
When it was black of night, yet early, the
merchants would set out their lanterns and the
villagers would mingle amongst them.

Everyone knew everyone else in this small village.
They each knew when something different was
happening, such as Mae and Susan visiting. Each
inhabitant was so closely tuned to the vibes in
the village they could tell there were visitors
here, because the vibrations in the rhythm were
changed. The villagers were that closely tuned to
the earth.

Following supper Shing Li suggested they all go to
the inner village where they would mingle with the
people and enjoy the "togetherness" of the
village.

Mae and Susan agreed. They sat on the porch of
Shing Li's home long enough to watch the fleeting
effects of daylight leave the rice paddies and the
valley beyond. The sun had long set behind the
mountains at their back, and the last vestiges of
light could be seen in the distant hilltops,
until, finally the stars were more dominant than
daylight.

The sky was clear and the stars bright. They
sparkled like the sky had been sewn with diamonds
in the fabric.

"Look! That one is moving." said Shing Li.

"That is what we call a satellite, Shing Li. It
was put up there by man. It is used for man's
communication devices here in earth." said Susan.

"Ooooh!" she said pensively, not quite
understanding.

The moon was in it's first quarter and a sliver of
it could just be seen rising over the eastern
mountains. Later it would shower the village with
enough light people could well navigate within the
village.

It was time to leave.

Shing Li got her baby and carried her in her arms.

Mae and Susan came without even the staves they
used for walking.

The little group casually sauntered through the
village, coming across people here and there as
they did.

Mae and Susan were both broadcasting love energy
unto all they met. Shing Li introduced them to
everyone. The village was not a large village,
housing maybe up to a hundred people. Mae and
Susan had no trouble remembering the name of each
one they met. That was one of the benefits of
higher law.

The village reception was warm and genuine, with
no contrary feelings picked up by Mae or Susan.

The villagers had made the decision these two
newcomers were friends and they "opened the
village" to their use and comfort.

Mae and Susan reciprocated love with love.
Everywhere they went they cast out healing vibes
and saw all as being perfect.

The villagers responded to the love, wanting to be
close and embrace the feelings of love they were
picking up. Each wanted to touch Mae and Susan and
each almost wanted a piece of them.

The two could hardly move. As the evening went
forward they did not. The villagers gathered
around and talked and talked. Mae and Susan were
crushed into a tight knot within the centre of the
group. The villagers pressed tight.

She pushed him away. "Maybe your other models let you kiss

"I've never tried to kiss a model before," he swore.

"Really?" she said, softening, "How many models have there
been?"

"Four," he replied, "A jug, two apples, and a vase."
