Is it true that more babies are born during the full moon?

Also not true. According to Mr. Berman, a 1959 study by
a father and son team of doctors suggested there was a
one percent increase in births around the full moon. But
later studies failed to support that conclusion. More
recent research, including a study by an astronomer who
combed through 70 million birth records from the
National Center for Health Statistics, found NO link
between full moons and births.

Do You Have Online Tunnel Vision?
bySusan Nichols

This week, as we work online, let's do our best to be
patient with each other. It's also important to realize that
the person to whom you're emailing might be taking a day off
-- What!!!  A day OFF??? Can we do that as online
publishers and web site owners???

YES we can!     --    YES, You can!

It's very important to break away from the stress and
demands of "all those emails" that flood in every day. How
many do you receive? In the hundreds? Some days, along with
my daily online work, I just can't get to it all - can you?

We are working in an online environment where we can not
visually see if the co-worker in the adjacent office is
taking the afternoon off, going to a meeting, having a
family emergency, sick with the flu, or... taking the week-
end off, as normal workers should for their family growth
and to keep good health.

Is your health important??? Well, what a silly question for
me to ask! Of course it is!!! Can it be ruined by working
24/7 - Yes, it's logical that no one should work round the
clock. We all know the statistics, the stress books, the
ones in the hospital from not recognizing when they had
gotten caught up with "Online Tunnel Vision."

Have you become one-with-your-computer? Is your monitor
attached to your brain? If so, then you have "Online Tunnel
Vision!" Have you looked out the window in the last 3 hours?
Do your eyes hurt? Get up and take a 15-minute break! Have
you even gone to the bathroom lately? Urologists state that
one of the reasons for kidney infections is from repeatedly
not going immediately when you "need" to. Does your back
hurt? Get up and take that 15-minute break!!!

What's the solution to break away from Online Tunnel Vision?
Just "Get Up and Walk Away" for a few minutes or even hours.
Your computer has no control over you - or does it??? Don't
wait till you're sick in the hospital to realize that your
life and family is more important than meeting the constant
demands from your online mailbox. Your snail mail arrives
only once a day at your office and home. Online mail arrives
"every" single second of "every" single hour of "every"
single day! Now, That's Demanding, isn't it!!! Only "we" can
control ourselves from allowing these demands to saturate
our mental logic and ability to keep this constant
insistence from our mailbox to ruin our health.

1. Limit your hours of working online each day.
2. Be a good boss to yourself. You deserve 15-minute
breaks!!!
3. When you receive an email from someone who is annoyed
that you didn't answer immediately, do your best to be kind
to them in reply, but let him/her know that you're human.
Aren't they? Sure they are, but they've forgotten.
4. Yes, you have "all" that work to do today, but a good
boss would tell you it's time to go home after 8 -10 hours
and get some rest. Control your computer! Separate yourself
from it! That's right - just get up and walk away. I'm going
to do that right now and guess what - you're still reading
this and it didn't disturb the world for me to take a needed
break. I'll be back in a few minutes. ;)
5. Ahhhh! That was a nice 15-minute break! Try it - Just get
up and walk away and do something relaxing for 15 minutes.
Then come back and send me the results.

May your day be blessed!

My Thoughts On Suicide Prevention
PART 5 of 6

By now you will have gleaned some of my thoughts
towards people who are thinking about suicide. It is
my experience that once these people are given
some ideas or understanding and acceptance and
a chance to voice their fears in a safe, non-judgmental
environment, they often do very well. But know that
this is an ongoing thing. Nothing changes overnight
just because you let them have their say. You might
feel frustrated about their lack of willingness to do
something, especially something you suggested.
One thing you have to remember is that if someone
has contemplated this, they will have spent a great
deal of time already planning and thinking. They
may have run out of ideas on how to live but have
found ways to die. And then you come along, with
compassion and seeming understanding, and now
they have to assimilate all this into their present
situation.

Plus they also have to adjust from a final decision
of "no more responsibility" to agreeing to take back
some control and responsibility. A short while ago
they knew they would never have to do that again.
That is why offering and having hope is so important,
but it's also a huge responsibility. You can't abandon
someone once you start to help them toward their
new destination. And DON'T expect them to have large
amounts of courage or ambition or even gratitude: they
won't for a while and may "hang on to you" for emotional
support. Be their example and do that silently. Let them
see you are interested but don't expect any response
for a while. Slowly they will start to connect again. When
they ask questions or seem open to talking, show them
that staying with their previous companions is not going
to get them moving toward their new goal. BUT have
some alternatives in mind and even if you have already
discussed them, do it again. Let them know you are
thinking about their situations.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------

It was getting to be too much. Mae began to spread
her arms and move the people back. They respected
her need for space, and gave it to her. She and
Susan began to move, slowly, through the
commercial district of the village until they saw
a building with a porch on it that was about three
feet off the ground. Mae headed for it.

When there, she and Susan jumped up onto the porch
and sat down, facing the crowd of people.

What the people were interested in was what was
happening in the "outside" world. They wanted to
hear of things like what was it they saw in the
sky that left long white lines behind. Sometimes
they heard things in the sky that made funny "chop
chop" sounds as they went by.

These villagers were not stupid, though they were
ignorant of much that was going on in the world.
The word ignorant here is used benevolently. It is
just that most, if not the only, communication
they had with the outside world was when
government workers came to tell them what they had
to do. These visitors would always come in
vehicles with a big star on them. They would wear
all the same kind of clothing and they would
always come to town center, honk their horns on
the vehicle. When the people all gathered around
these people would tell them things they had to
do.

Often it had to do with not having any more
children. Then, too, it had to do with having to
give so much of their rice crop to them when they
came once a year to gather it.

Sometimes these people explained nicely what they
were up to, but mostly they had guns and did not
care whether the people could give that much rice
or not. They would take it anyway.

The soldier was not known for being diplomatic.
They often had little time for what they thought
of as the peasants. The soldiers carried
themselves with an inflated air of importance
which, without the gun, was not substantiated.

Yet the people in this village were a peaceful
people. They had no interest in fighting. So, much
like villagers in Mexico, or South America, they
would quietly and simply do at they were told by
these outside visitors.

Too often another price they had to pay was when a
soldier took a fancy to one of the village
maidens. While the edict was not to have children,
these soldiers did not care. If they left a young
woman pregnant that was clearly her problem.

Still, that kind of thing did not happen often,
maybe not even once a year, so village life was,
for the most part, calm and peaceful.

So, when the villagers knew Mae and Susan were
after nothing, and when they felt the love the
pair broadcast, they crowded around and wanted as
much of them as they could get. Sue and Mae
quickly became beloved guests.

Even when the evening was over the crowds followed
them home. It was not until Mae and Susan, from
the porch of the house, said they were tired and
wanted to turn in, did the villagers begin to
leave. Finally, Mae and Susan simply walked into
the house, and did not come out.

Shing Li "shooed" the villagers away, with the
promise that Mae and Susan would be here tomorrow.

"Life is not fair." said Shing Li, "It is all
these people can do to live off the meager crops.
When authorities come and take what they have, it
isn't fair."

"No, Shing Li, life isn't fair. It just is.
Nothing is good or bad except as you think about
it. Do not color your world with adjectives and
other descritptive words. Enjoy all. Change what
you can, but enjoy all. That is just the way life
is and it is so in all lands. When you learn to
look at things without pronouncing them as bad, or
good, you will find you gain more answers and more
power." said Mae.

"Why do things happen like the people who come in
here from the government and mistreat us?" asked
Shing Li.
