Who was Daedalus?
Daedalus, a figure in classical Greek mythology, was

wings together, but Icarus got carried away and soared

So You Think You're Clever?

Boss: Johnson, we giving you a promotion but you have to
move to Montreal.
Johnson: Montreal! "Nothing comes from there except
hookers and hockey players!"
Boss: Listen pal, my wife comes from there!
Johnson, without missing a beat replies, "No kidding!
What position does she play?"
Sounds funny, on the surface, doesn't it? Yet it misses the
point entirely.
I have met people like this whose flippant attitude, resulting
in flippant speech, tend to have them think they worked
their way out of that problem. These people think they are
quick witted and clever, and go home patting themselves
on the back and bragging about their cleverness to
their friends.
I will never forget years ago I was in the middle of
purchasing a luxury vehicle, a big luxury vehicle. I asked
what kind of mileage I could expect out of this car and I
received the answer instantly "If you have to ask that
question you shouldn't be buying this car."
The salesman thought he was clever. I didn't get my answer,
and he will never know how close I came to telling him
where to go. He was not clever, he was rude. Moreover
he was insulting.
I shut up and made the purchase, then never went back
or spoke to the man again.
Today, being older, I would have given him a piece of my
mind and left without buying the car. I could have bought
it elsewhere.
So what is the point? The point is keep your conversation
honest. Keep your communication on a caring basis.
Flippant and clever will lose you sales, friends and much
of what constitutes a good life.
"Why?" you ask. Because most people dealing with you
are open, honest and trusting. Lose that and they will
not be back. AND they will tell their friends.
Another story for you. I know a man, in a teaching position,
who had his car repaired, after an accident, at a local
body shop. They messed up and would not fix the mistake
they made. He had to take his car elsewhere to have the
mistake fixed. It cost him a hundred dollars. He was so
furious and angry at the first body shop he went out of his
way to tell everyone with whom he came in contact.
Considering he spoke to and directly influenced well
over a thousand people a year, and his anger lasted
well into six or seven years, I would suggest the cheapest
and best advertising the body shop could have done
would be to fix it.
As it happened this angry man has likely kept much
business from the body shop. They were flippant too.
"Oh! No one will ever see that!" were the comments. "That's
nothing more than you'll get in any parking lot when you
drive out of here. I wouldn't worry about that." Well, because
they did not have the customers best interests at heart,
they lost many. Today, they aren't in business. I wonder why?
So, the next time you have an inner urge to offer a
flippant remark to someone with whom you are dealing,
think twice. You will always lose when - - -

Sometimes, Windows 98 can seem like it takes forever
to finish the boot cycle. Not only is this frustrating, it also
can shorten the life of your hard drive by having so
many I/O transactions all the time.
To fix this :
Take a look at the fonts you have loaded on your system.
Do you really need all those strange fonts? If so, OK,
but if not, take them off! Loading all those fonts takes a
tremendous amount of space and time.

I am always fascinated how we all seem to be floating from
one condition to another in this spaceship earth, almost as if
we were each in a capsule of our own. What makes us think
anything is any different when we die, is only an ignorance

Blood, Its Circulation And Its Pressure
PART 3 of 8
Nutrients include all that is necessary for the cell to function
efficiently. They come from foods you eat, and are digested and
metabolized (changed) into a usable form. The chemicals also
come from foods (including water) and are also critical to your
well being. They provide the critical balance your body needs.
Altogether, nutrients, oxygen, and chemicals are taken to the
cells, and waste products are removed. Each blood component has
a vital function. When these functions can't be fulfilled, an
imbalance can occur. And the body craves balance.
If you recall previous articles, the body has nine systems such
as the digestive system, the reproductive system, the endocrine
system, and six more. Each one is different and has a distinct
purpose. But all are made up of individual cells. And these
cells perform different functions depending on the system's
responsibility. However they all essentially require the same
nutrients, chemicals, and oxygen. What YOU won't know is what
the cells needs, but your body does. And it knows what it
requires will keep it balanced and complete. So you don't need
to eat to fill your kidneys' requirements, or your nervous
system's needs. Eat a meal that is balanced (and that is a
difficult concept to get across to people in this day of diets!)
Blood is meant to be in predetermined areas (contained in its
transportation systems) and not in other areas. By that I mean
blood floes naturally in your nose, but a nosebleed needs to be
investigated. And blood in your urine must not be ignored. That
is outside its natural boundaries, which include the kidneys and
your bladder.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Some in this village did not like her husband. He
was an aggressive man who took what he could get
and cared not for others in this village." said
the elder.
"I know that. So you thought you would take it out
on Shing Li?" aksed Mae.
Mae continued, "Shing Li has learned that to love
and to give is much more important than to take
for one's own sake. To maintain her humility she
will have to sew garments for a long time, unless
she progresses with her lessons. That will keep
Shing Li humble. What will keep the villagers
humble, so as to serve one another?" she asked.
Mae went on some more, "You think Shing Li loved
her husband, and that she chose him? You know
better than that. You arrange marriages here. She
had no choice in the matter. She was told to marry
and she had to or be banished from the village. So
why do you punish her for the problems he created?
That is what you are doing."
"We see that now. The villagers did not like her
husband and they all thought it was her, too, when
he died. When he was alive the villagers, in their
humility, would do anything he asked. He was a
forceful man. Now, when he is gone, they take
their anger out on his wife without thinking she
is a different person in her own right. On behalf
of the village we apologize to Shing Li for such a
terrible mistake. We will speak to the villagers."
replied the most senior elder.
"That is good, yet it will not remove from Shing
Li her need to sew at least one free garment a
month." reminded Mae, "That is not as a
punishment, but a reward. The lesson of humility
to her Maker is the most wonderful blessing in the
world. She shall become powerful, for it is when
you place yourself last that you come first."
Mae was warning the elders of Shing Li's future.
They were wise enough to know some of what Mae was
speaking of. They knew.
Upon finishing lunch the elders rose, as a group,
bowed, offered their thanks for the meal, then
departed, bowing one more as the exited the
doorway.
"You speak rude to the village elders." said Shing
Li.
"Not rude Shing Li, firm. What you really mean is
we speak with that authority against which there
is no argument. That is not rude Shing Li. That is
firm. Some think it rude because they don't like
it and want to color it. It is like a friend of
mine in India, Shing Li. He is a holy man and does
much to help all those around him. He asks for no
money, nothing. He won't accept anything from
anyone. Yet the police, who know him not, neither
do they care, have branded him a charleton." said
Mae.
"Why? Why would they do that?" asked Shing Li.
"The police are into control. Each policeman is
individually into control. This man they cannot
control, and wherever he goes he brings a crowd
and the police cannot control that. So they look
for all sorts of ways they can brand him a fake.
It does no good, publicly, but it satisfies them."
answered Mae, "It is the same old thing Shing Li,
people are always down on what they aren't up on."
"I want to learn this higher law Miss Mae, Miss
Susan. I want to be like you." said Shing Li.
"Then you must first learn the law 'As ye sow, so
shall ye reap.' Everything you do and think about
has consequences. You must learn to control those
consequences so only good comes back to you. That
is why you must not think bad or negative thoughts
about anyone or anything. Your emotions will want
to have you do that. It is natural. You must keep
them under control and think only good of all you
see, hear, feel, taste, and smell. The best
practice is not to pronounce them good or bad.
Think nothing about things, just look at them and
accept them as they are. Do not say 'This is good,
that is bad.' Think no negative thing about
anything or anybody. When you have that well under
way I shall show you some other things. That is
the first and most important lesson, for if you
have developed the power and know not how to use
it, harm will come to you and yours quickly when
you think ill of anyone or anything. Only good
will come from doing and thinking 'good'." said
Mae.
