Creating Cash Flow Projections You Can Trust
by Philip Campbell

Trying to run a successful business without cash flow
projections is like driving along on the freeway in a
driving rainstorm without turning on your windshield wipers.

You can't see the cars in front of you or behind you. You
slow down to a crawl. You're just hoping and praying the
rain stops before you end up in a terrible accident.

Cash flow projections provide you the visibility you need
to avoid problems and create the financial success you
deserve.

Cash Flow Projections Made Easy

Creating cash flow projections does not have to be a
difficult process. It is really a matter of using a few
basic principles together with your intuition and knowledge
about your business.

Here is a 5-step process you can use to create cash flow
projections you can trust.

1. The Near Future Almost Always Looks a Lot Like the Recent
Past.

The starting point for creating accurate cash flow
projections is to have the last six months of actual results
in front of you. You have a perfect view into what the cash
flow is likely to be because you have the last six months
of actual cash flow results there to look at.

You will be amazed at how this principle will help you
create accurate projections. It also helps make the process
so much easier and faster for you.

2. Consider What is Changing.

Is anything in the business changing right now in a
significant way?

If you just negotiated a 10% discount in the cost of a
product you re-sell to your customers, then you should
consider whether it should be reflected in the month you
will experience the reduced cost.

The key here is to make sure it is significant enough that
you are certain of its impact. Otherwise, it would be
better to see the impact in your actual results before
including it in your projections.

3. Be Conservative.

One thing about a projection you can be certain of: it will
not be perfectly accurate. You can be 100% certain that the
actual results will vary somewhat from what you project.

The trick is to get close.

It's like meeting someone for lunch. You agree to meet a
good friend at a restaurant at 12:00. You set 12:00 as the
time to meet so you will both be there at about the same
time. You set a very specific time so there is no
confusion.

Despite the precise time you set, you know that both of you
will not show up at exactly 12:00. The only question is
whether you will be there a little before 12:00 or a little
after 12:00. Will you be early or will you be late?

It's the same with your cash flow projections.

4. The 90% Test.

Here is a simple test that will work wonders for you.

Are you 90% sure the cash balances will come in at or better
than you projected? The key here is the phrase "at or
better than you projected". If you can answer yes to this
question with confidence, then your projections are
sufficiently conservative.

5. Use the "Smell Test".

Take a look at the projections again. Look closely at the
resulting cash balances. Are they in line with your general
expectations? Are they in line with the actual cash
balances over the last six months?

Give the projected cash balances the "smell test". The
smell test is a quick way to make sure everything smells
right. It's a way to make sure nothing unusual or
unexpected has made its way into your numbers.

It's like picking up a gallon of milk from the refrigerator.
It's not a bad idea to give it the quick smell test to make
sure you are not about to pour yourself a glass of soured
milk (better to smell a problem in advance than taste it in
the present, right!).

Taking Control of Your Cash Flow

Your cash flow projections provide you the visibility you
need to make more profitable business decisions.

Make a commitment to yourself now to regain control of
your cash flow by creating and maintaining cash flow
projections.

You will be surprised at how this simple process can
transform the way you manage your business.

Blood, Its Circulation And Its Pressure
PART 7 of 8

HYPERTENSION means elevated blood pressure (high tension).
Higher than 140 "over" 90, 140/90, but some doctors allow higher
reading. Salt may increase the reading, so you may want to cut
back a little. If you are already on medication for hypertension
and it's still "high", let the doctor know and they would
probably adjust or changes something. Hypertension may wear out
your arteries like you wearing out the garden hose under
pressure. High blood pressure increases your chance for heart
attacks, strokes, kidney, and eye problems. There are many
"natural" or non-drug activities you can do to get your
hypertension under control.

HYPOTENSION means a low blood pressure and it would be
consistent readings less than 80/60 consistently. If you are
very athletic, your body may have adjusted to these lower
readings. If you are ever hospitalized, do yourself a big favor
and tell someone your BP will naturally be lower. You may feel
proud of your low blood pressure but think this through, you may
realise that reduced amounts of oxygen, chemicals, or nutrients
will also reaching the cells.any cells. Somehow I don't think
that maintains a healthy lifestyle. So it is just as important
to take regular readings if you suffer from hypotension as for
hypertension.

Prevent Blood Pressure (BP) pitfalls when you check your
pressures. Picture this.your doctor has told you that your blood
pressure is too high and he wants you to keep an eye on it.
Where do you start? Where do you go to monitor it? You're
tempted to buy a "machine" right away, but luckily your
pharmacist talks you out of it. There are several easy, quick
ways to do this on a regular basis, but there are some ground
rules.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Mae immediately recognized what was happening the
moment she saw him.

As she was walking into town in the early morning,
very early, she caught a glimpse of a shadowy
figure making its way from house to house or
building to building, going in the general
direction of Shing Li's house.

Mae quickly turned herself invisible and decided
to watch the man. She knew he was up to no good,
for who has good on their mind when sneaking
around to avoid being seen?

The figure was wary, looking out for any sign that
he might be seen, and trying to avoid that
possibility. Slowly the man inched his way toward
Shing Li's house. Then Mae noticed he had an axe
with him. Now she knew what he was going to do.

The houses here were put up on stilts to keep
animals from being a problem to the residents
while sleeping, to avoid the problems with water
in the monsoon season, and generally to help
maintain cleanliness.

They were all made of bamboo. There was a system
of beams and cross beams under the floor to
maintain the floor as level and to keep the entire
building properly supported, because most
buildings were resting on only six pilings, three
in the front and three in the rear.

Mae understood, the moment she read the man's
mind, that his intentions were to knock out the
centre rear piling. Doing that would cause the
centre rear of the building to droop down,
changing the balance and weight on the rest of the
pilings. If the weight were large enough on the
centre rear piling, then, when its support was
removed, it would cause the whole building to
shift back and down. The momentum created by that
movement could, and likely would, cause the
building to collapse toward the direction of the
fall.

The man was intent on causing that to occur.

Mae went inside the man's mind to find out who and
what he was, why he was up to this task.

She learned the man did not like Shing Li's
husband, neither did he like Shing Li. This was
the person Shing Li didn't like. This is the
person she was going to have to learn to accept,
that she was speaking with Susan about.

Funny, isn't it, thought Mae. People who don't
like you generally cause you to have the same
feelings toward them. You, too, when you don't
like someone, cause that person to feel the same
toward you. The law at work again.

The man was now only two buildings away from Shing
Li's and had thus far avoided detection.

Mae made her way, invisibly, toward the rear of
Shing Li's house, and waited.

Sure enough, the man soon appeared. He did not
wait long to be about his work. He lifted his axe,
ready to swing. He had the axe backward, using it
like a hammer, thinking that if he hit the top of
the piling hard enough he would knock it inward
and it would no longer offer the support it was.
This being successful, he would have to move out
of there quickly or the building would topple on
him.

He swung. WHAM!

He hit a shield Mae had put up around the piling.
It was invisible. The man never saw it.

The man had a good solid hold on the axe so that
when it hit the shield it bounced back as if it
had hit rubber. The axe went back over the man's
shoulder with considerable force and because of
his grip, it took him with it. He was not hurt,
but he was some surprised.

He came back, bewildered, but determined to try
again.

This time he swung harder and he got the same
results, flinging him even further backwards and
planting him firmly on his seat.

He picked up his axe again and this time he
calculated that if he used it like an axe, for
chopping, he would have better luck.

now done. I will be putting together thePEBBLE for
