What is the Chunnel?
It's a tunnel connecting Britain (an island) to the mainland.
The idea for the undersea tunnel was actually conceived in
1802 and started in the late nineteenth century. But it didn't
go anywhere. Work on the tunnel began again in 1973, but
again was abandoned. It wasn't officially opened until 1994.
Is it true that the can opener was invented 48 years after cans?
You'd think someone would have thought of it sooner. But
they didn't. Cans have been around since 1810, when
Peter Durand of Britain invented the sealed, thick-walled
metal storage containers. But the first can opener didn't
show up until 1858, when American Ezra Warner came
up with it.

Lots of things happening around the net these days.
The press is really jumping on the AOL theft story,
and asking a bunch of questions. That one of AOL's
engineers could steal 92 million screen names had
really shocked them. The big question is, of course,
how could it happen at all? What is going on with
AOL's security measures?
Then there is the Anti-Spyware Legislation. It seems
to be making its way slowly through Congress,
although it could end up being as effective as the
Can-Spam laws - - they're not working.
There are several acquisitions going on around the
net, among them AOL's acquisition of Advertising.com.
They tried to use this story to cover up the name
theft story, but it didn't take much heat off.
It seems that sex sells, but no longer just to men.
Surveys show that female executives are among
the heavy users.
And the last little tidbit is that while schools have a
pretty good handle on keeping kids from surfing the
porno sites, they do realize more and more of it is
being done from school computers. They are looking
at ways to put an end to it. All I can say is - - - Good Luck!
No man, since the beginning of time, has been able
to successfully stifle the sex urge in the human animal.
They keep trying though!

If you saw the above news story in your local or national media,
you would be convinced that DEET is the best thing since sliced
bread.
Wrong.
This is a deadly and potent neurotoxin that you want to stay
away from. If you absolutely had to use it, it should only be
used on your clothing, never on your skin. It is far too deadly
to ever consider using it on your skin.
Most commercial insect repellents are made from DEET. The
American Academy of Pediatrics advises against using repellents
containing more than 10% DEET on kids under six. DEET is a
pesticide and has been associated with a variety of health
problems ranging from dizziness to seizures, and children are
especially susceptible.
There are effective natural options. I repeat my comments from
four years ago:
"Well, summer is upon us. If you have been doing any gardening,
like I have, you will have plenty of mosquito bites to show for
it. Most of you, I am certain, know of the dangers of using
insect repellant like OFF which contains the chemical DEET. This
is a potent chemical that, in high doses, has actually killed
people. It should never be used on people. There are natural
alternatives available.

proven to more effective than Avon Skin So Soft, Bug Guard, Bite

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

As Mae was speaking with the villagers, she caught
a glimpse out of the corner of her eye, of the man
who was going to do harm to Shing Li's house. He
had been on the outside of the crowd, and was now
sneaking away, not wanting Mae to see him.
She said and did nothing, waiting only for him to
do anything he might be thinking of.
It's funny, this business of not liking people.
This man for some reason had a dislike for Shing
Li, now Mae. He had been caught in a situation
where he was doing wrong, yet he blamed Mae for
it. Some people just don't want to look at
themselves with truth and honesty. It is the same
in all cultures all over the world. There are
those who have not the courage to place
responsibility on themselves for their own
actions. Everything that happens to them is the
fault of someone else. That is how Mae's husband,
Frank, ended up in jail so many years ago. He
still doesn't accept responsibility for his
actions.
Mae felt sorry for her husband and for this man.
They were alike in their handling of people and in
their reaction to people. On the other hand she
was forever thankful for her son, David, having
found higher law. He fully accepted his
responsibility, having changed from what his
Father taught him. David used to blame everyone
else for his troubles, too, but the incidents that
happened to him in Las Vegas and subsequent
showed him the truth. He willingly listened and
acted correctly. Now he was the pride of his
Mother's heart.
Mae broadcast love unto all in front of her. They
accepted that love, for the most part, but it
brought back to her the knowledge that there were
some in the village who felt she would soon use
her influence over the people to wrest control of
the village. Little did they understand Mae and
Susan had no such intentions. These people were
only seeing a reflection of their own thoughts.
This was the way they were thinking, and therefore
suspected others might also have the same
intentions.
Mae and Susan were well able to pick up these
intentions. They did not worry about them for they
were not affected by them. However, they knew the
villagers would one day face the intentions these
men had.
The crowd was all affected by her broadcasting of
love. Many who were sick felt better. Many who
were down and discouraged felt uplifted. Many who
saw nothing to smile or laugh about found joy.
As Mae jumped down to the ground from the porch
where she had been standing she found the crowd
made room for her.
"Unto you all, thank you for making my friend and
I welcome. We will not be with you long, only a
few days. We love your village and would like to
be able to come back and visit one day. You have
all made us feel welcome. I must return now to my
friends house." Mae addressed the group.
She began to walk toward Shing Li's. The crowd
followed. They were not demanding any attention,
it is just that they had not been around anyone
who broadcast love as Mae did. They did not want
to leave her, she was magnetic.
Mae understood this and walked with them for a
ways. "You know, I think I will go look out upon
the rice paddies."
The crowd thought that was fine. They all wanted
to show this new friend all the things they did.
Some rushed in front while others walked beside
and behind her.
They showed her their water wheel and irrigating
system. They showed her how far their rice paddies
went. They gave her some rice, right out of the
field.
Mae blessed each of them as they mingled around
her. The press of flesh was becoming more
insistent. Then Mae heard a voice.
It was the voice of a little child. She was a
crippled child who had come with the group. Some
of the group were trying to keep the child from
speaking with Mae. They were holding her back.

I finally got my head together, and my body fell apart.

the man starts, "I used some horrible language this week
and I feel absolutely terrible." "When did you use this
awful language?" asks the priest.
"I was golfing and hit an incredible drive that looked like
it was going to go over 250 yards, but it struck a phone
line that was hanging over the fairway and fell straight
down to the ground after going only about 100 yards."
"Is that when you swore?" "No, Father," says the man.
"After that, a squirrel ran out of the bushes and grabbed
my ball in his mouth and began to run away."
"Is THAT when you swore?" asks the Father again.
"Well, no," says the man.
"You see, as the squirrel was running, an eagle came
down out of the sky, grabbed the squirrel in his talons
and began to fly away!"
"Is THAT when you swore?" asks the amazed Priest.
"No, not yet," the man replies.
"As the eagle carried the squirrel away in his claws, it
flew toward the green. As it passed over a a bit of forest
near the green, the squirrel dropped my ball."
"Did you swear THEN?" asks the now impatient Priest.
"No, because as the ball fell it struck a tree, bounced
through some bushes, careened off a big rock, and
rolled through a sand trap onto the green and stopped
within six inches of the hole."
The Priest sighs, "You missed the putt, didn't you?!"
