When were the first commercial flights to the moon offered?
When was the first aerial photograph taken?

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Why do mammals lick their young?
For several reasons. The initial "tongue bath" after birth cleans
the infant, provides comfort and helps the baby get used to the
mother's scent. The licking also encourages the infant to fill its
lungs with air and begin breathing on its own. Many baby
animals are born helpless, unable to see or hear or even urinate
on their own. The mother's licking stimulates the baby's involuntary
reflexes. Some mammals (goats, for instance) also use licking as
a way to "label" the newborn, placing a distinctive scent on it so
that the Mom can find her own child in a group of young ones
later on.
Where did the first flight of a hot-air balloon take place in 1783?
In Annonay, France. Brothers and co-inventors Joseph and
Jacques Montgolfier launched a 33-foot-diameter balloon, which
rose 1,500 feet and traveled about 7,500 feet before landing. It
was the first sustained flight of any object by humankind.

STRANGE BITS AND PIECES!
Many people in different parts of China eat insects. Some
common insects are bean worms, scorpions, and locusts.

Have you ever felt left out? It does not feel good.
Have you ever experienced loneliness during the
holidays? Many people find this to be the loneliest
time of the year. Everyone seems to be going somewhere,
meeting someone, doing something exciting and there we
sit. Doing nothing, nowhere, with noone.
NEWS FLASH! That's your choice! Oooh, does that sound a
little harsh? It is not. It's the reality of the
situation. Sure, you may wish that one group had
invited you to join in and that saddens you. There's a
big question, though.
Think about this story. I love it. It was told about
Leo Buscaglia, the well-known therapist and author and
it has always stuck in my mind.
Some people in his class rushed to him one evening and
told him that a young man had committed suicide. They
were so moved because the young man had left a note
saying, "I am so lonely. I am going to walk across the
Golden Gate Bridge and, if no one smiles at me, I am
going to commit suicide."
"Isn't that sad?" they moaned to Leo.
Leo thought for a few minutes and responded,
"Yes, that is sad. However, I have a question. How many
people did the young man smile at?"
Sometimes, we leave ourselves out. We think others are
responsible for our happiness, for our self-esteem, for
our self-confidence, for our sense of belonging. No.
Lovely though it might be to have someone to blame, it
is our responsibility to build the life we most want.
I looked up the word 'include' in the dictionary and
found that it actually means "to take in or comprise as
part of the whole".
Do you see yourself as part of the whole or apart from
the whole? If the group does not invite you in, invite
a group to you. I know that makes it sound so easy and
that it is not always easy to think that way. Your
feelings may be hurt.
OK, you know what I'm going to say, don't you? When
your feelings are hurt, take action. Tell the 'hurter'!
How can anyone know what hurts you unless you tell
them? Do you live in a colony of mind readers? Of
course, not. Do you think and act as though you do?
No one knows how you feel unless you tell them. And,
sure, even when you tell them, there are a lot of folks
who just don't listen! That might happen, but, do take
responsibility for telling folks how you feel and what
you want. After that, it's up to them. How they respond
tells you whether they are actually the kind of people
with whom you would want to be included!
Take responsibility: you have to do your homework, your
'own' work first! Examine yourself. Have you treated
the person well? Have you demonstrated willingness to
be included? Have you expressed a desire to be
included? More importantly, have you included them?
You are responsible for teaching people how to treat
you. Take that reasonability seriously.
Do not get caught up in 'victim' thinking! You know
that old song:
"Nobody likes me. Everybody hates me. I think I'll go
out and eat worms."
Whoever wrote that song needed a mental makeover. Yes,
it could have been just a fleeting thought in the
songwriter's mind--and I sincerely hope it
was--,however, some folks make it a lifestyle! If you
ever feel like a victim and then take no action to
remedy the situation, you've just become a volunteer!
So, begin now. Have the best holidays ever. Take action
now. Be inclusive to be included.

A Few Thoughts To Share On Hormones
And Their Actions
PART 11 of 22
Each adrenal gland has two distinctive parts: the
cortex and the medulla. I will digress here for a
moment to show how important medical terminology is and
how it can pinpoint a location. The word cortex will be
adjusted to corti or cortico or cortical. They
all give a hint that this word is somehow related to
the outer part of something: and in this case the
adrenals. It immediately gives the health professional
some insight and knowledge of what thread or subject
to look for next. Medical terminology says a lot in a
few words!
Each produces different hormones and each has a
different function. (Some medical texts divide this
into three parts, but that's too complex for our
needs.) Together both parts produce hormones such as
the precursors to male & female sex hormones,
glucocorticoid hormones, and mineralocorticoid hormones
and chemicals such as adrenalin and dopamine.
Situations where the glands produce either too many or
too few hormones than required by your body, is where
you can run into health problems.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
Walking was initially difficult for them but
after a half dozen strides all systems appeared to
be working.
Tim, meanwhile, had gone to let loose all the
other prisoners. He broadcast love unto all and
they all received it hungrily. Some of the men
were near death. Tim restored them to health.
It became clear revenge was on the mind of
some. It took all the efforts of Tim and Sharon to
set the scene correctly. The prisoners who were
now loose wanted to hang, kill, torture those who
were their captors.
"If you do this you will end up like them.
Consider well your motives and your actions. Would
it not be better simply to put them in your old
cells and make them do the work as you once did?
Only this time you will treat them humanely. There
will be no torture, no beatings, no killing, no
wheels. If a man does not cooperate put him in
solitary for no more than a week and allow him to
think on his condition. If they bring you more
prisoners you will capture the soldiers and place
them in the cells and the new men, would be
prisoners, will help you. You will make them
welcome."
"But we want to get back to our families."
said one of the men.
"Then go." was Tim's response.
With that permission two thirds of the men
began to march away. Tim, Sharon and the others
watched them leave.
The remainder took the guards, one by one, and
placed them into the holding pens. The men showed
no mercy where pain was involved, and likely
caused a little extra here and there where they
could. Soon the camp was entirely under control
again, only with the roles reversed.
Tim and Sharon called a council. All of the
newly releases prisoners were present. At the
council Tim set out the rules of conduct. Men were
to feel free to leave if they chose. This was not
to become a tough military compound ruled by the
strongest man. It was to be a democratic society
run by a majority vote in council. Even the rights
of the one were to be respected. They were not to
become what their captors were, but an example
unto each of them. Civilized behavior was the
order of the day. Then Tim called out the man they
had come to aid. Brian Doherty came forth.
Tim left the group, as did Sharon. They were
left to make their own rules and divide up the
work load.
In the meantime Brian, Sharon and Tim were
walking down the road conversing.
"Who are you. You have restored my health, my
clothing and my sense of who I am. You two, alone,
have caused this camp to come under our control.
You have power no man has seen."
"Brian, during all your torture and time spent
at this camp and others you have always been in
search of your Maker. You have learned the great
law, 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap.' You have come
to see no material goods or position will cause
you gain, but only the finding of your Maker will
give you life. You gave up your life unto your
Maker and had nearly stepped across the veil of
simplicity. Now is your time. If you wish to
complete that journey we are here to help you.
Brian immediately fell to the ground in tears.
He was overwhelmed that guides would appear and
help him in this the most cherished of his
desires. He wept.
Sharon, broadcasting love, laid her hand upon
Brian's shoulder and in that instant Brian crossed
the veil. He saw. He knew. He was.
Slowly he rose and looked into Tim's eyes,
then Sharon's. They all knew he had made the final
step. It would take a couple three days for Brian
to complete his metamorphosis, but the mission was
accomplished.
All three of them suddenly disappeared to the
eyes of those in camp. Tim, Sharon and Brian
appeared at a small clearing next to a stream,
deep in the jungle. There Brian was allowed to
meditate, ask questions and receive guidance on
his new found skills. The stayed there for three
days.
Brian, it turned out was a Scot. He had been
raised in the highlands and was as tough as any
Scot in a fight. The torture had worn him down,
not to a point of defeat, but to a point where he
saw the futility of fighting his captors. He
found, inside, peace, rest and love. He spent as
much time as he could going there. Finally he
committed to living his life that way regardless
of circumstances. It was at the time of that
commitment that Tim and Sharon were called.
During the three day camp out Brian grew
rapidly. Upon their return to camp his aura was
evident to everyone. All treated him with high
regard, just as they did Tim and Sharon.

TODAY'S REPORT:
More of the same today, folks. I am writing this history material
for my friend. It looks like it will be a three day chore.
Hey! Mom and I went out and purchased an electronic keyboard.
I wanted a rhythm section to aid my timing with my guitar. Wow!
have we had some fun. Yesterday my granddaughter was here
and we played for a couple hours. Boy, she's good. She can
play music better than I.

HA! HA! HA!
With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world
at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a
very important person which almost went unnoticed last
week. Larry La Prise, the man who wrote the "Hokey
Pokey", died peacefully at age 93.
The most traumatic part for his family was getting him
into the coffin.
They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.
