TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What attracts piranhas?

Why do we dress baby boys in blue?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What common bathroom product are roaches attracted to?

Here's a great reason to keep the cap tightly closed on
the toothpaste: roaches love the stuff. They also love
hanging out in the small puddles of water that form
around pipes and faucets. This is why you often see
them in just two rooms: the kitchen (lots of food
there) and the bathroom.

How big are piranhas?

Bigger than I thought. I thought these fish were
exceptionally tiny for some reason, but apparently just
the teeth are. Piranhas average about 8-12 inches in
length. Not huge, but not miniature either.

How fast do piranhas eat?

A school of piranhas has been observed eating a 400
pound hog to the bone (to the BONE, mind you) in just
minutes. Their teeth are extremely sharp, almost like a
saw blade, and when they bite, the points of their
upper teeth fit into the notches of their lower teeth,
forming a deadly trap. Piranha, in large groups, have
been known to leap from the water while attempting to
feed.

Company settles 'spyware' lawsuit for $7.5 mln

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Intermix Media Inc. has
agreed to pay the state of New York $7.5 million to
settle a lawsuit charging it with bundling hidden
"spyware" along with millions of programs it gave away
for free, the company said on Tuesday.

The company also said it would permanently discontinue
distribution of its adware, redirect and tool bar
programs, all of which Intermix noted it has previously
stopped distributing. Intermix said it did not admit
any wrongdoing or liability.

Intermix shares rose $1.50, or 24.6 percent, to $7.60
in after-hours trading on Inet following the news.

The settlement deal follows New York Attorney General
Eliot Spitzer's April lawsuit charging that the
company's practice of bundling hidden spyware violated
state laws prohibiting false advertising and deceptive
business practices.

It also came as the company on Tuesday posted a fourth
quarter net loss of $409,000 compared with a loss of
$4.4 million a year ago. Revenue rose to $24.1 million
from $14.4 million, boosted by gains at its Alena
business unit and network segment.

The results also reflected a gain of $6.3 million
related to an investment in its newly-formed,
majority-owned subsidiary MySpace Inc. and a $6.9
million reserve established in connection with
Spitzer's lawsuit, Intermix said.

Spitzer's office had sought to stop Los Angeles-based
Intermix from secretly installing software on users'
computers, make it return money it made from the
process and pay a fine.

These programs were secretly bundled with others
designed to deliver pop-up advertising or steer Web
traffic to an Intermix search engine, Spitzer charged
in the lawsuit.

Under terms of the settlement, Intermix agreed to pay
$7.5 million to the state over three years. Since
Spitzer's initial inquiry, Intermix also said it has
created the position of chief privacy officer and
worked with federal regulators to help protect Internet
consumers.

Stop The World: I Want To Get Organized!
PART 4 OF 5

Please Please Please Make this your future not
your spouse's: your own. In my seniors' clinics, I
constantly run into widows who don't know who they
really are. They have always been an extension of
their spouse's world: committed to someone else's
dreams. Their own dreams are like warm coals: alive,
but very dormant. However, they will surface, given
enough encouragement and hope.

If you choose to do something about your stress level
now, let me share with you how you will change.
It's a little scary, but the risk you take is tiny compared
to the freedom you receive.

So the time and energy you invest now, to organize
your new life, will eventually create wonderful results.
First, you stop and collect your thoughts. We each have
a huge number of thoughts and ideas swirling in our
heads daily. You have to take some time for yourself
to recognize them.

This is the planning stage: this is the stress-relieving part.
It's crucial to your survival. And don't so this with anyone
else otherwise you will hear their ideas and you have
enough of your own.

In my experience, women have the hardest time with this
step. (I admit to being guilty here until I found ways to
handle this issue.) Women feel they don't have time to
do this. But I tell them that they don't have time NOT to
do it. Women feel guilty when they are not doing
something with their hands.

Again I give you permission to take the time to stop and
organize. And you start to plan: to dig deep down into
coming up with news ideas, new ways and a new
purpose and growing confidence in yourself.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

Evening came and David was now anxious to get
his plans underway. All the while they were out
shopping he was studying people, especially their
clothing. He was making himself aware of how
clothing moved on a person as they moved. He
discovered there were always wrinkles and folds
that appeared at the same place with each similar
step.

All this thinking he now wanted to put into
practice in the statue. He well knew the statue
would be stationary, but he had in mind making it
so Old Pete appeared to be doing his "strut" while
walking down Main Street. That meant Pete would be
in a walking stance, chest out, calling out his
messages. In this pose there would be only one
foot of the statue touching the base. Pete would
appear to be in motion.

David had been thinking of these things as he
was out with the family during the day and now he
wanted to implement them.

Supper over, he excused himself and went to
the garage.

Once inside he set to work. His first task was
to survey the base. He wanted to look at it from
every angle, every elevation, just to make sure
the finished base was what he wanted. It was.

Now he began work on the top. Just out of
center he caused a large hole to appear. This was
a hole that was two inches in diameter. There he
would install a large eye, as in hook and eye. On
the underside of the eye, on the pin that would
protrude downward into the hole he just made he
would put threads and a very large nut.

When the eye was in place in the hole, David
caused himself to move through the metal and into
the inside of the base. He screwed the nut onto
the threaded pin that came through the hole. Now
he moved out into the garage.

That eye would serve as a means for the
workmen to pick up the base for transport. It
would also serve to invert the pin and screw it
from the underside of the base into a similar hole
David was planning on placing in "Pete's"
foot. It would be the arrangement that would
attach Pete permanently to the pedestal.

Now for the work on the statue itself. The
first thing David did was cause his large block to
become upright, vertical. This block was also
eight feet tall, but only five feet by five feet
in length and breadth.

David moved back and leaned onto a workbench
Bob Hunter had in the garage. His back was to the
workbench, arms folded across his chest and he was
thinking. He began to see a vision of Old Pete
walking down the sidewalk calling out his
messages. David kept that vision in his mind and
he looked at it from all angles. It was as if Pete
were on a pedestal in his mind and David was
walking all around him.

When David had the picture vividly in his mind
he opened his eyes and looked at the block. He
began to see that same image of Pete within the
block. Slowly, ever so slowly, the image began to
appear more real. The material other than the
image was disappearing, leaving only the material
in the shape of the image. David held his gaze and
he held the image in his mind. He began to compare
the two and made little adjustments here and there
to create complete comparison between the two
images. Once he was certain he had it the way he
wanted, David pronounced it so. "So be it." was
his command and the image in the material took on
the firm material reality men are used to.
It was time now to look at every detail. David
had met Pete once, when David was a boy. At that
time Pete had a cut on the back of his hand from
something he had been doing. David now put that
cut on Pete's right hand, just as he had seen it
as a boy.

He looked at Pete's nose. There were no
hollows for the nostrils. David realized most
folks would be below Pete, looking up, so he
created nostrils in Pete's nose.

Then he realized the same would have to be
done for the inside of sleeves on his coat and for
the legs in Pete's pants. People would be looking
up at Pete and these things should appear as it
would if it were the real Pete. So David caused
the sleeves and pants to appear as normal.

Most statues David had ever seen usually had
no natural looking eyebrows or eyelashes. David
fixed that, causing a fine wire like texture to
appear in those places. When he was done Pete had
these fine features sufficient to make him look
real.

Pete was in mid stride. His hands were flung
out as if he were walking. One leg was headed for
the next step. Pete's mouth was open. David
ensured the teeth were proper looking. In his
right hand, as always, Pete held his bell.

HA! HA! HA!

On a visit to my wife's native England for our
honeymoon, we arrived at London's Gatwick Airport.

Tania headed for the British passport control line
while I, an American, waited in the foreigners' line.
When my turn came, the customs officer asked me the
purpose of my visit.

"Pleasure," I replied. "I'm on my honeymoon."

The officer looked first to one side of me, then the
other. "That's very interesting, sir," he said as he
stamped my passport. "Most men bring their wives with
them."
