ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What attracts piranhas?
Piranhas are attracted to open wounds and the smell of
blood. They are also attracted to frantic splashing,
such as that made by an injured animal. Nevertheless,
it IS possible to swim in piranha-infested waters
without being stripped to the bone by the little
flesh-eaters. Brazilian natives (with NO open wounds,
we'd have to assume) swim in such water.
Why do we dress baby boys in blue?
Well, now we do it because we're used to it and that's
how the clothing manufacturers design the baby clothes.
But there used to be a reason for it. Blue, the color
of the heavens, was believed from ancient times to be a
protective color. Baby boys were dressed in it to
protect them from evil spirits and the unfortunate
events they caused. Girls, deemed less important and
thus of no interest to evil spirits, were dressed in
any old color. Later, pink was adopted for girls just
so they'd have a color too.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
Stress Is Because We Want!
Some may have a bit of a problem with this concept, but
try it out. A huge amount of the stress we experience
in our lives is because of what we have decided we
want.
"Whoa" you say "why can't I have what I want and what's
wrong with wanting?"
You can have what you want and there may be nothing
wrong with wanting.
However, we only live seventy years, too many of us
less than that and you know what? - nothing you have on
you or "own" goes with you when you die - nothing.
I know that is obvious, but think about it. So all we
ever want for, fight for, ruin relationships for, kill
for, steal for, or take is only for something for which
we have temporary use. Pretty dumb isn't it?
Think a little further and see how we become tense in
our efforts to get these things. Look how that
tenseness occasionally proceeds on to the fight or
flight condition in our bodies.
Some of you say you have a right to these things. No
you don't. You have a right to want them as part of a
continual learning process. Ownership of anything is,
by higher law, only a concept of man and serves very
well to keep man in bondage.
You can have those things around you to use. There is
nothing wrong with using what is there for you. Yet the
question here is why kill yourself in the process.
When you learn the higher laws you learn to detach from
the "wanting" and the "owning". You begin to see
yourself as fortunate for having the use of the things
you already have around you. You begin to see you can
have the use of anything in this world you want to use
- and that without getting stressed out about it.
You begin to see you can use things and enjoy them
without the bondage. It is this question of bondage
that Jesus addressed when he suggested it would be
easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than
to get a rich man into heaven. So long as you "own"
things you are the rich man. Bondage will keep you from
ever enjoying the fruits of higher learning because you
are afraid to let go of all these "things" you "own".
We can make choices. We can choose to detach. We can
learn to be steward only of the things and people
around us. We can choose to get off the "ownership
kick" and get on to learning higher law so we can truly
be on a "enjoyment kick".
Think hard on this. Peace of mind can be a very
powerful ally in pursuit of the rest of your life. And
a body, healthier from less stress, will allow you to
enjoy longer, better and much more.

Stop The World: I Want To Get Organized!
PART 5 OF 5
Yes, you will run into resistance and it will come from
yourself, your family, your co-workers, your regular
world. People naturally don't want change and will
create all sorts of ways for their world to remain
untouched. But you must have the courage to do this.
In the end, others will respect you, but for the moment
they feel threatened more roadblocks, more stress,
but nothing major in your journey to a stress free life.
Here you begin to feel hopeful that this might work
for you.
By now you should have had a glimpse of a better way
to do things and a better way to live. It's all doable with
little financial cost. It may just need re-arranging some
activities. It might require help from others (who should
be helping anyway).
Once you start the process, I guarantee you will never,
never be the same. Even now, as you think about these
possibilities, and dismiss them, I know they will stick in
the back of your mind and come up every once in a
while. All this takes time. But if you never start, your
body will never have the opportunity to rebuild itself:
to become strong and resistant to degenerative
conditions.
So I would suggest to you that the choice is relatively
easy. Even if you can't do much toward your personal
goal right now, you CAN prevent creating a stressful lifestyle.
WHY STOP YOUR WORLD AND GET ORGANIZED?
Because your physical, emotional, and mental health
are all at stake. If you keep them healthy, they will keep
you healthy. Hereís to your health! (Doesn't that toast
now take on a new meaning?)

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
David stood back once more to appraise the
detail. While Pete was lifelike in appearance
David did not want to take any chances. He wanted
the statue to be "real" in every way.
He remembered Pete's shoes were so well worn
there was a hole about the size of a silver dollar
in each sole, with the edges wearing back all
around. David caused that to happen in the raised
foot. Then he caused the shoelaces to be showing
the signs of movement, being tossed here and there
as a person walked.
Next, David concentrated on Pete's eyes. While
he had them remain of the same material he imbued
them with a "knowing" look. As one stood back and
looked at Pete those eyes would appear to everyone
as if they were "seeing eyes".
The entire statue of Pete was the full eight
feet. The idea was to have Pete appear lifelike
while he was up on top of the base. While standing
up there Pete would appear life sized to those
standing on the ground looking.
David remembered Old Pete used to have leather
patches on each elbow, with the stitching showing.
He caused those patches to appear, one of which
had a thread hanging down. And there was that tear
in the left sleeve of Pete's coat that Pete had
sown up. David made that appear.
The statue was a fine piece of work. David
stood back and looked.
He took out the photos Darryl Sparks had given
him of Old Pete. David studied them for a while.
Slowly he went over every detail. He was just
about to say he had it all right when he noticed
something. Somehow Old Pete's shoes weren't
wearing down evenly. As David looked at the
photograph he noticed the heel on Old Pete's shoes
were wearing down on one side more than the other,
and that was true of both feet. Old Pete must have
been pigeon toed.
David went over to the statue and looked at
Old Pete's shoes. He caused them to show wear just
as the pictures showed.
Next David caused a two inch threaded hole to
appear up the center of the foot that would be
touching the base. The eye David had just made for
the purpose of transporting would be removed from
the base once it was in place and David would go
inside the base and from the underside screw the
pin of the eye up into the hole in Pete's leg. He
would screw it tight and that would cause a
permanent attachment with which no one could
meddle.
David well knew he would have to be present
when the statue was being erected and assembled.
That would be fine. He would cause it to be done
properly.
Here was the part David had really been
thinking about. Building a lifelike statue was one
thing but David wanted to imbue it with qualities
no other statue had. Pete, after all had served
this town well and the man was different. David
wanted to cause that to happen with the statue as
well.
First he wanted no birds to sit on the statue,
doing their normal thing. So he caused the statue
to send out vibes that would keep birds and
animals away. Next, he wanted Pete to be free of
rain, snow, dust, dirt and at all times appear as
clean, fresh, new as the day the statue was
erected. So he imbued the statue with that
ability.
Now he wanted Pete to emit light, not the kind
that would appear man made as with street lights,
but the kind of light man received from the sun.
it was a kind of light that was just there. It
didn't "shine" but was a never ending gentle
emission of light such that the entire area
withing fifty feet of Pete in all directions there
was light enough for people to read. David caused
that to happen, imbuing the statue with that
quality.
Next, David wanted Old Pete to be warm. Most
metals are cold to the touch. David did not want
that for this statue, or the base. He caused the
metal to be permanently warm. It was not hot but
would give the sensation to every person that it
was warm, like flesh.
The most important quality David wanted was
that the statue was to give off a feeling of love
unto all who came near. David wanted people to
feel accepted, loved, appreciated, forgiven,
embraced. Slowly he imposed those "feelings" unto
the statue and the command was, "Henceforth
forever you shall offer all these things to those
who come near." There was a flash of light as the
command embedded itself into the statue.

EXCERPTS FROM THE CAT'S DAILY DIARY:
Day 283 Of My Captivity. My captors continue to taunt
me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine
lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry
cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope
of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining
the occasional piece of furniture.
Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant. Today my attempt
to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while
they were walking almost succeeded; must try this at
the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and
repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced
myself to vomit on their favorite chair; must try this
on their bed. Decapitated a mouse and brought them the
headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I
am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their
hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a
good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to
plan.
There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices.
I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However,
I could hear the noise and smell the food. More
importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to
MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and
how to use it to my advantage. I am convinced the other
captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is
routinely released and seems more than happy to return.
He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand
has got to be an informant, and speaks with them
regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due
to his current placement in the metal room, his safety
is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of
time...
