TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

What dog runs faster than the greyhound? (Hint: It's a
wild dog, not a domestic dog.)

What bird uses spider webs and caterpillar silk to hold
its nest together?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

How fast do humans run?

Not very fast. The average human runs 27.89 miles per
hour (maximum speed over a quarter-mile distance). The
average lion, when charging, can go 50 miles per hour.
A small sampling of animals that run faster than us:
cheetah (70 mph), quarter horse (47.5 mph), elk (45
mph), Mongolian wild ass (40 mph), greyhound (39.35
mph), rabbit (35 mph), cat (30 mph), reindeer (32 mph),
grizzly bear (30 mph), and white-tailed deer (30 mph).

What animals move slower than humans?

Well, there are a few. The elephant, when charging,
only runs about 25 mph. Other slow-pokes: squirrel (12
mph), domestic pig (11 mph), chicken (9 mph), giant
tortoise (0.17 mph), three-toed sloth (0.15 mph), and
garden snail (0.03 mph).

STRANGE BITS AND PIECES!

In a year approximately 900 million trees are cut down to
make the raw materials needed for American pulp mills and
paper.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------

My Burning Bush!

I'm sitting at my desk and looking out the window
again. As I do so, I see a virtual forest of trees, our
hillside rock garden, our waterfall and I spot one
special tree.

My son planted this tree. It is a special dogwood with
very light colored leaves, almost yellow. It provides
food for some insects, shelter for others and beauty
for all. In just the right light at the end of day it
is so outstanding it reminds me of the burning bush
Moses saw.

Interesting, these things. There it sits teaching us
all the higher laws of our Maker, that is if we have
eyes to see.

It does nothing but contribute beauty, shelter, food.
Yet it clammers not, it fights not, it takes not, it
has neither greed nor avarice. It knows it will live.
It knows it will get food and water, It knows it will
get sunshine. And so it spends it's time giving.

Oh! Am I speaking as if it has intelligence? It has. It
knows when it is appreciated. It knows it is doing it's
job. It gets praised everytime we pass it. It consumes
the same energy that drives you and I. It communicates
with it's Maker better than most and it is doing it's
job better than most.

It contains the secret of the ages. That's it you know,
the knowing. It knows it will do well so deeply into
it's fiber there is no doubt of any kind. And so it
flourishes.

My how simple. The same rules apply to us, yet we make
things so complicated. Each of our business' would
flourish if we would only "Know".

And, so, all these things I see and understand from my
communication with ...

My Burning Bush!

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

Your Heart And Your Courage:
Both Belong To You
Both Must Be Nurtured And Respected
PART 1 of 11

I thought it would be interesting to elaborate on an
email I recently received. A reader asked me to explain
what her doctor meant when he told her that she had
something wrong with the apex of her heart and the
lower left side. From the wording of her request, I
made couple of assumptions. One was that she had no
idea what he meant and did not have the courage to ask
for clarification. And secondly, I felt that English
might not be her first language which might explain the
fear of not asking for more information or a simpler
explanation. The more I thought about her request, the
more I wanted to elaborate for others how the heart
functions and its basic anatomy. But I also wanted to
give you a push to become more assertive if you feel
intimidated by medical or health care professionals.

As always, please use this information for general
interest and not for any other important decisions. I
will give some very simplistic explanations of the
anatomy and physiology of the heart. Then we will take
a short “journey” through the cardiovascular system.
Lastly, I want to give you some hints or suggestions on
asking for better explanations from any health care
professional. Because once you understand what goes on
in your body, you will feel much more in control and
want to actively participate in further treatment, if
it’s needed. For that you need to build up your
courage. You have it: it may just need a little
polishing.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

The group had coffees and Maz had another ice
cream cone. They spent about two hours just
sitting and talking. Bob Hunter had not spent any
time with Ben Striker before. To some degree, as
Police Chief, Ben was socially out of reach for
Bob. Here, however, Bob found Ben Striker to be a
very fine man, warm, loving and easy to speak
with. This entire group, even though they all
lived by higher law, included Bob in all parts of
their conversation. They made him feel right at
home without pretense or airs.

All this was having an affect on Bob. He was
beginning to feel a kinship with these men, and he
wanted it. Yet he knew he would have to earn it.

The meeting or gathering adjourned and all
went their separate ways. Bob, David and Maz got
into the car and drove home.

"My, what kept you guys. We thought you got
lost or something." Lynn was speaking of the
length of time they were away. The ladies didn't
think they would be gone that long.

Pam told her they stopped off for coffee at
the restaurant. Her Mother wasn't too sure Pam
was right. Pam let that go, knowing the truth
would come out.

Sure enough, from Bob himself, "We ran into
Darryl Sparks, Sam Henry and Ben Striker. We
decided to stop off at the restaurant for coffee."

Lynn looked at Pam. "How did you know?"

"Mother? It was easy for me to send a question
to David, who answered with the same ease. And if
he had not I have other ways of finding out. You
know that, why do you doubt?"

"I just can't get used to you living by higher
law, honey. I still have trouble understanding and
believing it."

The rest of the day went without incident,
although David was having some thoughts about his
statue.

He had been thinking all day long about an
idea that came into his head. He knew the source
of the idea and he wanted to implement it.

Following supper David excused himself to go
to the garage to "put on some finishing touches"
to the statue.

Entering the garage he had no need to turn on
the lights. The quality he imbued the statue with,
that of giving off light, was working very well.

What he wanted to do was to give the statue
the quality of stimulating ideas about higher law
in all those who came near. David knew he could
not cause people to come to higher law, but he
also knew he could create within them ideas to
think about. That is what he wanted to do.

Standing back, looking at the statue he raised
his hands, palms toward it, and in a flash of
light, sent that quality into the statue and into
the base.

The result of this would be that all who came
near would now think on the matter of higher law.
They would ask questions. They would begin to
think the Sam Henrys, the Darryl Sparks, the Jim
Whites and the Ben Strikers might be right. Each
would, within themselves, begin to ask the
question. That was all David wanted to do.

Now he was satisfied the statue was finished.

The week passed quickly. Before David knew it
the Wednesday morning when he would deliver the
statue, was here. David was up early that morning
and was waiting at the back of the Hunter garage,
with the big garage door open, when the city truck
drove up.

Actually there were two trucks. The first was
a semi, with a long flat open deck trailer. The
second was a shorter truck with a huge crane on
it.

The work crew got out of their trucks, came
over to David and said hello. The idea was that
they wanted to look at the statue and base to see
just what they had to do and what would be the
best way to handle this job.

It took no time at all to see that with the
statue in the garage it was a problem.

"I suggest you back the trailer up a little so
it is straight with the alley and the end there,
by the neighbors gate. I will cause the base and
the statue in turn to be here in the center of the
alley. The crane can pick them up high and simply
drive forward, extending itself out over the
trailer. When the base is far enough up on the
trailer he can slowly lower it and that will be
that. The base will not move. We can do similarly
for the statue itself. How's that?"

"Th ... that would be fine Mr. Wiley. But how
are you going to move that base out here?" asked
an incredulous workman.

"You just leave that to me. It will work just
fine."

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"We will either find a way, or make one." -? Hannibal

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a
contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the
contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door
neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost
his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went
into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his

lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he
had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
"Nothing, I just helped him cry"
