TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

Why do crocodiles eat stones?
What is the difference between an ocean and a sea?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Is there such a thing as a vegetarian crocodile?
Not anymore. Scientists say a pre-historic mostly
vegetarian crocodile was an evolutionary experiment
that didn't succeed. A fossil of the
70-million-year-old, pug-nosed reptile -- called
Simosuchus clarki -- was found on the island of
Madagascar off the east coast of Africa. The critter
was not very ferocious. Its teeth were leaf-shaped and
not the sharp, conical daggers of the modern crocodile.
Its eyes were on the sides of its head rather than at
the top. Besides plants, it also ate bugs, frogs and
lizards. Paleontologists say if it were alive today,
it's not something "that people would be running scared
from." Because crocodiles are older than even
dinosaurs, scientists say the fossil of the three-foot
long crocodile could help determine how and when a
single super land mass called Gondwanaland broke apart
to become Africa, South American, Australia, India,
Antarctica and Madagascar.
What is the difference between a crocodile and an
alligator?
The alligator is actually a subspecies of the
crocodile, with a rounded snout (crocodile snouts are
usually pointed) and a generally less aggressive
attitude. It is part of the family Crocodylidae. You
can also tell them apart by their teeth. Nearly all of
the crocodile's teeth stay on the outside of the mouth
when closed. The upper and lower teeth showing makes
them look like they are smiling. The alligator, on the
other hand, has a slight overbite--the bottom teeth fit
inside the top.

Tips And Tidbits
Wireless Web puts personal data at risk
by Daniel Sieberg CNN
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- What comes to mind when you
think of wireless Web surfing? It may not be security,
or lack of it. There are nearly 30,000 public wireless
"hot spots" in the United States at places such as
parks and cafes, but there's more to consider than just
where to log on. The convenience comes with a caveat.
"Understand that the information you're sending is very
similar to standing up here in the park and shouting
out all the information -- would I normally do that?"
said Richard Rushing, a wireless expert with security
firm Air Defense who visited an Atlanta park to show
security vunerabilities.
Rushing is considered an "ethical hacker" and works
with companies to strengthen their wireless networks.
He said many people don't realize they could have all
their personal data stolen while checking out their
checking account.
"It's great to be able to sit somewhere and work
without having any wires attached, no nothing attached,
but you have that risk that it comes back to," Rushing
said.
At the park, Rushing was able to log onto an unsecured
hotel wireless signal in a matter of seconds. To
illustrate how vulnerable such networks can be, Rushing
then sent an e-mail and intercepted the entire contents
of the message. He could've done the same thing to any
of the dozens of people sitting nearby in the park.
"At any point in time, I can reach out and touch
everyone's laptop at the hot spot, and there's usually
not any way of preventing that -- from me touching and
looking at other people's stuff at the hot spot
itself," Rushing said.
He also demonstrated a growing concern called "evil
twins" -- fake wireless hot spots that look like the
real thing.
For example, he said, a hacker could be sitting around
the corner sending out a wireless signal. It may look
like a legitimate one, even offering people a chance to
sign up for service. But if you log on, the hacker then
would have complete access to your machine.
He said anybody with some tech know-how and the right
tools can break into the basic level of wireless
security that's commonly used. There are even how-to
video instructions online.
Rushing said people need to imagine that nothing is
truly private at a wireless hot spot.
"A lot of the time you really want to stay away from
doing certain things at the hot spot that you would
normally not do if you knew somebody would be
watching," he said.
Nevertheless, Rushing doesn't discourage using
wireless. He tells people to be aware of what they're
sending and the potential for theft. In other words,
it's a good chance to read the baseball scores, but
even if you're sitting by yourself, it doesn't mean you
are all alone.
There may be no wires attached, but the convenience
still comes with strings.
---------- SIDEBAR
FACT BOX TIPS FOR PROTECTING WIRELESS
NETWORKS:
# Look for additional security software such as a
firewall.
# Be wary of fake hot spots that look real; prepay for
wireless access in advance.
# Don't send sensitive e-mail on wireless networks that
don't have high-level security. If you aren't sure,
don't do it.
# Activate the security software on your home system to
deter hackers and people from using your wireless
network for free.

Your Heart And Your Courage:
Both Belong To You
Both Must Be Nurtured And Respected
PART 7 of 11
Do not expect to know everything. You dont need to.
And dont feel uneasy or give up if you dont
understand the lingo. BUT do not accept the lingo if
you dont understand it.
Here are a few things that might be helpful the next
time you need to visit a doctors office and feel a
little frustrated because you really dont understand
what is going on or what is suggested. This will take a
bit of courage, but I guarantee that the appointment
after this one, it will be easier. Guaranteed! (But
nothing will change and the guarantee is null and void
if you dont change!)
In order to understand what is being said you need to
pay attention. I know this is so obvious, but it really
isnt. You are nervous about not understanding and you
miss a lot of the words. While you are struggling to
decipher one phrase, you miss some of the next
information. This is so frustrating and just feeds your
feelings of ignorance which in turn feed your fears. I
want you to tell yourself that you are perfectly
capable of learning anything, including this. It may
take some time, but you can learn. So believe that.
Next, lets decide right here that you have the right
to know what is going on. This is your body. You also
have the right (and obligation) to make proper
decisions for any treatment proposed for you. How can
you possibly make an informed decision as your
consent form demands, if you really dont understand
what is going to happen or what the treatment entails?
You cant. But you must.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
"Maz, the marriage break up is where the
problem lies. People no longer think they have to
work at relationships. They are insecure going
into a marriage and when their partner doesn't
fulfill their desires they become even more
insecure. They have not been properly taught the
real values of life. Kids ending up on the streets
is mostly because of a single parent home where
that parent has to be out working just to put food
on the table. There is no time to properly
supervise and work with the kids. Men are
amazingly dense when it comes to responsibilities
toward children they have fathered. Once break up
occurs they go their own way. Even those who hang
around feeling some responsibility toward their
kids are insufficient in their willingness to
look after them. Men and women no longer seem to
have the guts, the courage, the intestinal
fortitude to work things out. They are under the
false belief that the kids are better off in a
home where there isn't fighting all the time. They
use that excuse to leave home and the rest is
downhill. It all comes from a person thinking they
are not getting what they want rather than looking
at their responsibilities. They have not been
taught the benefits of discipline."
"What do you mean discipline, Dad?"
"Maz, your Mom and I have been showing you,
slowly, how to use higher law to live your life.
That is based entirely upon your understanding of
the law 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap'. In other
words there is always a result from any action you
perform. If you listen to your heart or your body
and decide to rush headlong into the things you
think you want emotionally, you will be lead down
the garden path, son. You will end up chasing
fleeting feelings that will lead you to nothing
and cause you no end of grief. On the other hand
it you understand the great law and make decisions
ahead of time as to what you want, then act
accordingly, your life will come out the way you
want. It is self control that will keep you on
that path. That is discipline. It is the matter of
making the choice to do what you know to be right
rather than do what your emotions currently want.
That self control will permit you to live by
higher law. Without it you cannot live by higher
law for your emotions will cause you to use the
law against yourself."
"I know how you and Mom live. I like that. I
see Auntie Eloise and Uncle Maz, too. I want to
live that way. I don't want to have all the things
they have in Pinehill. I want to live the way I am
supposed to live."
David grabbed Maz and gave him a hug. "Thank
you for being my son. I appreciate having you
around."
"What did you do when you went away, Dad?"
"Well there was a young man on cocain. He and
his girlfriend were out driving around breaking
into houses and stealing things. They wanted to
get this stuff and sell it so they could go buy
more drugs. They were becoming more and more bold
and were on the verge of hurting folks. As they
drove around the country they were becoming
erratic. The police were looking for them but had
not yet found them. I caused the police to drive
in a certain direction and the young man to also
drive in that direction. Then I gently caused him
to drive off the road. That gave the police time
to catch up with him. He will have to pay for his
actions as the great law dictates. If the young
man is smart he will listen, see, and change his
behavior. If not he will return to that lifestyle
and will become lost to himself forever. It all
depends upon the choices he makes. It is his life
and he can choose to go any direction he sees fit.
If he makes the right choices he will be all
right. If not then his whole life will end up a
mess."
"It seems life is hard, Dad."
"Do you find it hard, Maz?"
"No, but I don't get into trouble."
"You're right, yet have you studied the
reasons why you don't get into trouble. You make
choices just like every other living soul, Maz. It
is just that you make the choices that give you a
better life. It is all cause and effect, Maz. 'As
ye sow, so shall ye reap.' You make your own
choices."
"Why can't other people see that, Dad?"
"Well, first of all, Maz, their basic
philosophy is incorrect. They think life is
measured by conquest, by the amount of material
goods one has, by the fame one has. Man does not
look at life and appreciate what is. He wants
more. In the pursuit of more his ego makes him
think he is what he is not and his emotions lead
him down paths he would be better not following.
He has no real sense that life is of his Maker so
he spends no time in communication with his Maker.
As a result he cannot know what life is about.
This condition is before every child and each
child is told to follow. The result is that style
of life is perpetuated unto succeeding
generations."

"Women have an incredible ability to pick up on

HA! HA! HA!
As the bus pulled away, I realized I had left my purse
under the seat. Later I called the company and was
relieved that the driver had found my bag.
When I went to pick it up, several off-duty bus drivers
surrounded me. One man handed me my pocketbook, two
typewritten pages and a box containing the contents of
my purse.
"We're required to inventory lost wallets and purses,"
he explained. "I think you'll find everything there."
As I started to put my belongings back into the
pocketbook, the man continued,
"I hope you don't mind if we watch. Even though we all
tried, none of us could fit everything into your purse.
And we'd like to see just HOW you do it."
