Keep Your Word!
It was the day after Christmas. The pastor of a church was
looking over their Nativity scene when he noticed the baby
Jesus was missing from among the figures.
Immediately he turned and went outside and saw a little boy
with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the
little infant, Jesus.
So he walked up to the boy and said, "Well, where did you
get Him, my fine friend?"
The little boy replied, "I got him from the church."
"And why did you take him?"
The boy said, "Well, about a week before Christmas, I prayed
to the little Lord Jesus and I told him if he would bring me
a red wagon for Christmas, I would give him a ride around
the block in it."
The young man in this joke has stumbled upon, and,
thankfully, acted upon, one of life's most profound lessons
- - - keeping your word.
If you look at that matter from the external perspective
only it is very important one keeps their word. Once you
gain a reputation for doing so you become one who is trusted
and worth dealing with.
However, the area where keeping your word is infinitely more
important is within your own mind. The act of doing what you
promised you would has the effect of telling your mind that
is the kind of person you are. It is the success pattern.
Once you develop the habit of doing what you say, your mind
knows it and works behind the scenes on your behalf.
Therefor if you say you are going to go out and earn a six
figure income, you have the advantage of a brain that knows
you are going to do it. After all it has long years of
experience watching you do as you said you would.
Contrast that with someone who says they will do something
then never follow through. Imagine what must be going on
within the deep recesses of that persons mind. I can hear it
now, "Oh yeah! Here we go again. More promises that never
get done. I guess we won't have to worry about going to work
for this one either!"
So, ask yourself, if your mind had a personality of it's
own, which, by the way, it does, would you like it to have
the first level of thinking or would you rather it think
like the second method?
You see, the choice is yours. You can feed your mind
anything you want and it will act according to how you have
trained it.
Don't you think, then, that it is vital that you - - - -

Why Do We Have To Be Healthy?
PART 1 of 5
I received this unusual question and though you might
be an interested in this thought-provoking idea. (I
suspect it was part of a class project.) Indeed why
should we be healthy…what is the opposite or
alternative? The word “health” encompasses several
parts of your being: physical, mental, social.
Mosby’s describes it as “a condition of physical,
mental social well-being and the absence of disease or
other abnormal condition. It is not a static condition;
constant change and adaptation to stress result in
homeostasis”. Homeostasis is defined as “a relative
constancy in the internal environment of the body,
naturally maintained by adaptive responses that promote
healthy survival”. (All of these definitions come from
Mosby’s 5th Edition.) We always assume health is only
physical, but it also includes your social and mental
health. Physical fitness or health is defined as “the
ability to carry out daily tasks with alertness and
vigor, without undue fatigue and with enough energy
reserve to meet emergencies or to enjoy leisure time
pursuits.” The social aspect refers to “the ability of
an individual to fit in with the expectations of a
particular group, .acquiring beliefs, habits, values
and acceptable modes of behaviour, etc.” Webster
defines health as “the state of being hale, sound, or
whole, in body, mind, or soul; especially, the state of
being free from physical disease or pain.” I won’t go
into this in more detail...I just want you to
understand that health is not just about your physical
body. It has to include your mental and social state as
well.

Arrested terrorists in Canada have, like everywhere else,
supporters to lobby for their release. Here is what they are
saying - "Lawyers, human rights advocates, and family
members have complained the suspects' legal rights are not
being respected."
Gee! The police caught them with bomb making equipment,
plans, training camps and had them under surveillance for
months. If you listen to supporters one might think all this
equipment is your regular every day grocery fare. Why would
police become concerned if you had bomb making material on
hand, and clear plans showing you were going to blow up
parliament?
In another matter altogether, on the Indonesian island of
Java, site of last month's earthquake that killed 6000
people, Mt. Merapi is once more becoming increasingly
active. Ash and smoke is billowing into the air some 4km and
lava flows have reached as far as 7km from the mountain.
This area is being very badly hit with natural disaster.
There are fears Mt. Merapi will explode in a near Krakatoa
style eruption. Incidentally, Krakatoa was in the same
vicinity. This is a highly active geological area. 11,000
people were evacuated from their homes today with more yet
to be meet the same fate tomorrow.
Somewhere along the line the law is working it's wonders.
